  Good hotel, large rooms, well connected

  This was our first trip to China and the Westin Tianhe was our abode for a few days. The hotel is centrally located with easy access to Linhe west / Linhexi metro as well as a few small malls around for food. This is the heart of the business district and also convenient for access to some tourist attractions. The rooms are huge and spacious, a stark contrast to Hong Kong where things are generally cramped for space. The breakfast spread is fairly comprehensive, as you'd expect from a Marriott hotel, with a mix of local and international options. The bakery section in particular is outstanding - croissants, egg tarts, danish's et al. But it could do with more options in terms of cheese, cold cuts and fruits. The service is efficient but transactional and lacking a bit of warmth, something we felt while checking in. But I guess that's also reflective of the fact that it's primarily a business hotel. The wifi was a bit iffy at times, which was strange considering this is primarily a business hotel in the heart of the business district. While the hotel is conveniently located, there's not much around in terms of sight seeing and its primarily surrounded by corporate offices.While this is a no-smoking hotel, we noticed one person smoking in the lobby in full view of the reception and concierge, flicking the ash from the cigarette in the lobby as he walked out and then throwing the cigarette stub in the driveway right outside the entrance to the hotel lobby. While this isn't the hotel's fault, one would expect the staff to step in and strictly enforce the no-smoking rule. This solitary incident notwithstanding, we had a pleasant stay and would certainly recommend the hotel for a comfortable stay.

  This hotel has the best concierge service I have ever received! Karry helped me very quickly with my situation. He provided professional service and it took just 15 minutes for him to deal with the situation with my broken luggage. Really appreciate his service! The hotel itself has a good location and beautiful view from the window.Larry provided quick check in and explained the hotel facilities. I highly recommend this hotel as they provide individual customer service on high level.

  Excellent Service, Location and Food

  First trip in early April spent 12 days at the hotel as I was very busy meeting with suppliers and manufacturers. Hotel is ideally located, food is great and the rooms a very good. But most of all the staff are outstanding. Very polite, attentive and professional. Although the standard of English for some of the front line staff was quite low it didn’t stop them from providing the best possible service. In particular Connor from Guest Relations was extremely helpful and always willing to stop and say g’day and offer us any assistance. Also, a young concierge staff member named Aescn was excellent. He turned our daily grind of catching a taxi / limo to factories throughout Guangdong into a smooth and pleasant experience and he made sure we weren’t being ripped off. He was always happy to see us and even though his English is basic it didn’t stop us from having pleasant conversations thanks to Google translate et al. I’m an ex-hotelier from Australia and worked throughout South-east Asia and the personable service we received from Aescn, Connor and the other staff was excellent. I just checked in today for another short follow up trip and as soon as Aescn spotted me he came over, smiling and welcomed me back while shaking my hand. Now that’s great service and makes the guests feel welcome and appreciated . I highly recommend this hotel.
