Beautiful and peaceful resort

A beautiful resort in a stunning location on the Li River, surrounded by spectacular scenery. The resort is very peaceful, private and quiet, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy the landscape. If possible, book a villa — the extra privacy and space make the experience even more special. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay in Yangshuo. The property is beautiful, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast also deserves special mention: it is varied, plentiful, and of good quality.Unfortunately, however, the service does not meet the standards expected of a five-star international hotel belonging to a prestigious brand such as Banyan Tree. It is very difficult to understand how, in a property of this level, almost no member of staff is able to communicate in English. We experienced constant communication difficulties, even when placing a simple order at the restaurant. We always had to use a translation app on our phones, but even then, we were often unable to make ourselves properly understood.We also booked an excursion to the rice terraces through the hotel, and the experience was extremely complicated. It was very difficult to understand where we were supposed to go and how the tour was organized. We had to communicate using gestures and photographs because the guide could not understand even basic English.Overall, the property is pleasant, with spacious, clean rooms and a good breakfast, but our stay was significantly affected by the serious communication difficulties. From a five-star Banyan Tree hotel, we expected a much higher standard of service and better assistance for international guests. Nice place but in need of refurbishment

Nice hotel, well located on the shores of the river. Excellent western breakfast. Dining options for western food ok. Unfortunately the premises need urgent refurbishment.The pool area is tiny. The pool bar was closed all the time. Language barriers are very big and the staff cannot respond to basic questions in English. A Truly Unforgettable Luxury Retreat at Banyan Tree Yangshuo

Our family had an absolutely incredible stay at Banyan Tree Yangshuo, and it was one of the highlights of our entire trip through China. Our group stayed in the Three-Bedroom River View Villa along with a nearby One-Bedroom Villa, and both accommodations were simply spectacular. The villas were spacious, luxurious, beautifully designed, impeccably clean, and offered breathtaking views of the surrounding karst mountains and river. They provided the perfect combination of privacy, comfort, and elegance for our family while allowing everyone to stay close together.The location of the resort is second to none. Surrounded by the iconic limestone peaks and the tranquil Li River, Banyan Tree Yangshuo feels like a peaceful oasis while still being conveniently located for exploring Yangshuo and the surrounding countryside. Every morning felt like waking up inside a traditional Chinese landscape painting.One of our children's favorite parts of the resort was the beautiful swimming pool, where they spent hours every day. They were also thrilled by the peacocks roaming freely throughout the property. Watching these magnificent birds wander through the lush gardens made the resort feel even more unique and magical, creating memories our family will never forget.What truly made our stay exceptional was the personalized service. We were fortunate to have Wu Guang-e (???) as our dedicated host throughout our stay. From before we even arrived until the moment we departed, he took care of every detail with incredible professionalism and genuine warmth. Whether coordinating transportation, answering questions through his business WeChat, arranging activities, or accommodating special requests, he was always just a message away and responded almost immediately. Having a dedicated host made us feel like valued guests rather than simply hotel customers.The entire Banyan Tree team consistently went above and beyond to make our family feel welcome. Every interaction was warm, sincere, and focused on creating a memorable experience. Beautiful property, but falls short of the true Banyan Tree experience

The property itself is absolutely stunning, but unfortunately, this stay did not live up to the high Banyan Tree standard we have experienced at other locations. It started with a stressful check-in process where we didn't feel particularly welcome.The overall service level was disappointing. There was no water in our room upon arrival, and it took a staggering 2.5 hours to get some delivered after we requested it. In general, the staff was not as helpful or attentive as we are used to with this brand.While the breakfast offers a wide selection, the quality is inconsistent and feels a bit deceptive. For instance, the juice bar is decorated with plenty of fruits and vegetables to look fresh, but the juice is not freshly squeezed - they only want you to belive so. I actually witnessed a staff member pouring orange juice from a commercial carton into the pitcher in the kitchen area. There was also an ice cream buffet—a fun concept, but the ice cream was of the lowest quality and tasted terrible. The potential here is massive, but the service and execution need to improve significantly to justify the Banyan Tree name.
