  No frills hotel for business travel in Hongqiao area

  I stayed here during a 4-day workshop in Shanghai and was satisfied with the comfort and overall stay with the Holiday Inn Express.Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Room had all amenities needed for business travel, a bit smaller than most rooms in Shanghai but serviceable. There was decent heating in the room to help through the winter cold of Shanghai.The breakfast had good diversity for the price. Had a good mix of Chinese and Western selections. The hotel even had a small gym that I was able to use for some exercise during the trip.Location-wise, it's about a 5 minute walk to the nearest metro and had many restaurants and groceries along the area to make your stay comfortable.Overall, the hotel, while no-frills, was good value for the price paid. It hits all the checkmarks for a comfortable room to stay during a busy and tiring business trip. I would recommend it for business travelers.   Very Nice / Good Location / Large Rooms

  Wow compared to USA Holiday Inn Express this is off the charts. Large clean rooms with plenty of Hot water. Temp control shower faucet which I wouldn't expect in a HI. Excellent bedding. Nice work out room with 3 sets of washers and dryers with free use for guests. Good breakfast. Front desk is very accommodating. 24 Hour free coffee which is nice. Close to several good restaurants on the other side of the block.   You will be delighted although the outside is not that nice

  First time stay here and it is near Hongqiao metro center, a short walk from Line 9 Station. I was a little bit worried about this stay due to the outside looking of this hotel. I felt like it would be a weird black-market place like Chungking Mansions in Hong Kong when I entered the small front desk.But everything worked well.. The room is OK, not spacious but good for one person. The view is limited but at least not a wall. Comparing to the living area, the bathroom is relatively large. And the room has bidet since there are many Japanese/Korean visitors in this area. In my room, wifi coverage is not good in the toilet which accelerate the usage.Breakfast was amazing where they have a full selection (Chinese/Western) which a full noodle bar. The food qualify is also very good.Staff is professional and willing to help.With the price paid and the location, 4 of 5 stars is fair.   Good, apart from the 4am thumping noises

  This is a nice hotel in a nice area. It's 9 mins walk from the local station (on the 10 line) and very close to local shops and convenience stores. The staff were very pleasant and although spoke little English, were happy to communicate via app. The hotel is also very convenient for those visiting Chabad (although beware the toilets are electric). My room overlooked the road and a very pretty lake - I always ask for a nice view, and this was one. I would say ask for a view on to the road - the other views are unlikely to be anywhere near as nice.On the negative side, at 4am each morning there began a series of thumping noises from somewhere outside my room which continued until I was forced to get up then continued until I left around 9am. This occurred on both weekend nights I stayed. I concluded these were from the floor below. I was in Room 209 and the hotel actually does not own the space below the rooms. I think this is a vegetable market and it sounded like they were working. Thump, thump, thump. I heard it at points during the day as well. I raised this issue with the front desk. Also, not that I had very much, I thought the breakfast was quite poor and also poorly displayed.   Good For a Short Stay

  We stayed one night as we needed a hotel close to the train station. The location is good, close to the metro. The room was not big, small bathroom. Breakfast was good.The staff was friendly. We forgot an earphone in the room, the next day we came to get it and it was returned to us.
