    A very good stay at this hotel during the Chinese New Year.

    I would like to specifically thank the reception staff member Kitty for her outstanding assistance with our needs. We had reserved two rooms for five guests, three of whom were senior citizens in their 80s and 90s. Kitty assigned the rooms, and we were delighted with her choices. The rooms met our three key criteria: 1) convenient locations near the dining area and exit, close to the elevator; 2) the rooms were next to each other; 3) one room could accommodate three guests, and the other two guests.Overall, we are very grateful for Kitty's efforts in ensuring we had a wonderful stay at the Hyatt Regency Chongming during the Chinese New Year.

    Luxury Getaway at a 2 star Price

    This Hyatt Regency is a dream, built in the style of an ancient Chinese palace but super modern and clean. We had a king with balcony, with a lovely view over red terra cota roofed luxury villas next door, looked like Italy! The staff was awesome, although their English skills were a bit under par. The best is the price, as you get 5 stars mansion for the price of a Super 8 back home! The location is 40 minutes northeast of Shanghai, in a completely secluded area, so it is a getaway resort. There are a couple of restaurants and markets within a few km radius bu cheaptaxicab or plenty of parking if you are a local. There is little to do but relax and explore the paths around the property itself, so great for a decompress after a long business stay. There is a port area with a walk way a 2 min drive if you can call a taxi to come take you back. The swimming pool was warm though no hot tub. Caveat: The bridge to the island can get backed up, as our taxi driver had a 2 hour delay due to an accident after dropping us off. We left at 10 am, a bit early and experienced zero traffic on the return to downtown Shanghai.

    Nice Stay in Nice Season

    Very responsive services and very decent facilities. It's been chosen by many local residents from the city for their accomodation on the island. Restaurants were kind of busy. It is understood for this season. But I would expect more from the Buffet for a global 5-Star hotel. Anyway, this hotel is highly recommendable. Seeing pets everywhere even makes the stay more relaxing.

    We had a good time at Hyatt Regency Chongming. The room is spacious and clean. The breakfast includes different varieties and was delicious. We also had dinner in the chinese restaurant, it was great too.

    Dog-Friendly Rooms (less so for humans)

    We came to Hyatt Regency Chongming for three vacation reasons:1. Clean and green family getaway2. See animals on hotel grounds3. Bring our dog to visit all dog amenitiesWe managed to satisfy point #2, but everything else was rather disappointing considering the name and brand of this property.We booked a pet-friendly room, but it felt like this room type were the worst maintained (or hardest to maintain) in the hotel. We had old cigarette smoke (covered, not neutralized, by air fresheners), peeling wallpaper, dust in a number of crevices, and a mosquito issue on our balcony/garden that kept us from really enjoying our amenities with our child and pet.A/C system didn't actually work, our control panel was most certainly a placebo rather than actual equipment, unfortunately this is an ongoing issue with ALL international brand hotels in Shanghai.Food was satisfactory at both the breakfast buffet and the Lantian restaurant, nothing that stands out.Our biggest disappointment was to have booked with our dog and arrived to find that the hotel's dog park (friends told us about how big and nice it was) was closed for construction. Overall, this would have been a satisfactory stay IF this was a three-star hotel brand; our five-star experience - specifically because of the room - fell disappointingly short
