Location

The hotel is ideally situated just an 8-minute drive from the heart of Lujiazui, Shanghai's central business district and numerous shopping areas. Metro stations are within walking distance and the hotel is close to all city attractions in Puxi and Pudong. The hotel is 40 min from Shanghai - Pudong International Airport and 30 min from Shanghai - Hongqiao Airport.

Facility

The hotel has a lift and features 400 rooms. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities available at the hotel include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service, cash machine and drinks machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The hotel offers a number of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities.     The hotel’s facilities, guest rooms, and service are impeccable, fully in line with InterContinental brand standards.The breakfast is extensive and diverse, with consistently high quality. It even features a variety of ice cream flavors—something quite rare among luxury hotel breakfasts in Shanghai. The executive lounge afternoon tea is truly exceptional, offering an impressive selection of high-quality desserts that is unmatched among high-end hotels in the city. It stands out as one of the most sincere and generous executive lounge experiences. The evening happy hour is also well worth trying.The staff at the executive lounge reception are especially warm and welcoming, and the in-room welcome fruit is thoughtfully prepared rather than perfunctory.The only downside was the interaction with the main front desk regarding a suite upgrade. The response—“only one-level upgrade allowed”—felt abrupt and unfriendly. Compared with the elite recognition typically offered at other InterContinental properties in China, this was disappointing. In many cases, when suites are available, Diamond members staying for just one night are often accommodated. Hopefully, this will improve on a future stay.Overall, it is still recommended for elite members.

    The best Spa in the World

    I am only writing this review for the Spa. I am working at the Mercedes Benz Arena and found their care to be lifesaving after getting to Shanghai after working in Beijing for two and a half weeks.I have a shoulder and neck injury which was exacerbated by the flight. I booked into the Spa and was immediately taken care of.The staff here are honest and friendly and I am grateful for their attitude and work.They treated me like a friend and invited me to share tea with them the following evening, no purchase necessary. Just really lovely people.As my job's stress and pressure levels increased the Spa became my place of peace and relaxation. They worked on my knotted back muscles and smashed feet every night.Stress kills. This Spa has been a life-saver. Thank you for your kindness, and for giving me hard massages when I needed them. I will be sad to say goodbye to my new friends.

    located with a river view, this hotel is great for business trips and tourists. However, a little far from the main tourist attractions. the rooms are nice with full windows for views of the river. The hotel is generally clean and service good. Food was average, with little no halal options.

    I stayed at the InterContinental Shanghai Expo and overall found the facilities, location, and service to meet the high standards I expect from InterContinental. However, I had a concerning experience at the hotel spa.During what began as a perfectly professional massage, another staff member entered toward the end and offered me an inappropriate “extra VIP service.” I declined, and she did not insist, but I was surprised and uncomfortable.At a 5-star international hotel, I would expect the spa to maintain only professional standards of service. I hope management addresses this issue, as otherwise the property has much to recommend.
