Location

The city hotel is situated within walking distance of Shanghai Railway Station and an underground station. It is around two miles from the Shanghai Grand Theater and the Jing'an Temple, three miles from the Bund (waterfront) and four miles from Yuyuan Garden and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Jade Buddha Temple is a pleasant 15-minute walk from the business hotel.

Facility

The hotel has a lift and features 308 rooms. The reception desk is open round the clock.     Exceptionally helpful and patient front office staff

    I had problems with my Alipay account. Laura Cao, a front office staff, was extremly helpful and patient in resolving the issue. Without the assistance of her and her colleague, I would not be able to use Alipay, which is essential in PRC. Kudos to Laura and her colleague.     The location is a bit far from the city, but the breakfast had a good variety of options. However, it was unfortunate that the front desk staff were not very helpful — we weren’t given any directions to our room or told where the elevator was, so we had to find our way on our own. That said, the breakfast was quite enjoyable and pleasantly tasty.     My room on 8th floor is not a room of a 5 star hotel. Stinki and dirty.Dirty and Stinky.Carpet very old and dirty.Bathroom has spots on the floor.I would expect more for a 5 star hotel in this area.Maybe other rooms are better.Based on some good resessions it….     Nice upgrade for an overnight stay

    By chance was my 3rd Intercontinental hotel during this trip and by far the most impressive in terms of cleanliness and service.Arriving for an overnight stay , I was told I was upgraded 2 category up which is nice despite the short stay and I must say the room hits all the right notes except stench of cigarette smell despite hotel being smoke free but then this is China even in Shanghai.As I was already very tired at the end of my almost 10 days business trip, I chose to have dinner at the Japanese restaurant which at 7:30 pm only has 2 tables including mine . Service is very attentive and the staff gave time for me to decide , taste wise is acceptable except one stick of the Yakitori which I was told later in the mixed platter is beef tongue which not just tasted weird but also looked horrible. I have tried much better beef tongue in Japan .The room as I described though not a suite but is very spacious and comfortable.Breakfast choices are also great with a mix of western and Asian. Only disappointed is the limited choices of tea as they only offered black and green tea, no Earl Grey which would have been common .Had the chance to visit the pool before heading back and though only about 25 m it is clean and nice temperature water indoor.     I gave a 4 rating yesterday my mistake should have been a 5 for the club service.on reflections I spent most of my free time there. plus the meeting rooms we used for many a long hour were also supported by Lily Meng ‘s, team with fresh tea or coffee and snacks.
