Do not book unless you're a chain smoker

    rating30 Jul 2023

DO NOT BOOK. It's basically a hostel - tiny rooms, you do have a bathroom which is nice and there is free laundry (one machine for a thousand guests so be prepared to wait) in a common space. They don't speak English. The rooms smell terribly of smoke. The hotel has a no smoking policy but it is NOT upheld. Since the rooms are right next to one another, if one person is smoking you can smell it in your room. Some of the rooms are very damp (?!) so they have dehumidifiers. Save your money.

Small Room, poor soundproof, a bit dirtiness

    rating08 Oct 2015

    1. The size of the room did’n match we booked : we booked on Ctrip website for a 21-square-meter-Queen-bed room (for 284 CNY without breakfast), but the clerk gave us an approximately 12-square-meter room. The room was very small (the bed almost occupied the whole room), with only 2 clothes racks on the wall. We argued with the clerk about this, and get replied that "Ctrip not marked clearly " there are different sizes of Queen-bed rooms, and this one is small. " The clerk also mentioned that 2 additional pillows are provided in small room as compensation.2. Hotel soundproofing is poor: can clearly heard the sound from other rooms, very embarrass experience; and no soundproof windows.3. Cleanness poor: almost wear-out towls and bed linen, with strong smell of bleach on them. It’s pretty uncomfortable for skin touching them.4. Suggestion: the quality of the hotel may be bearable if the price minus 100 CNY. If you want to stay, it is recommended to bring personal towels / sheets / earplugs. The hotel is under construction (Oct. of 2015) and may not safe for children to stay.

Nice hotel, great location, great value for money

    rating21 May 2013

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights for work, which was booked by my local colleagues. The hotel does not have a grand entrance, but that is the only big negative points.Check-in was fast and prompt, and completed in less than 5-minutes even though it was the first time i am staying here. The reception even suggested that I joined the Hanting Hotels membership which cost under RMB200. The savings was RMB 50 from daily room rate, and free breakfast (RMB75 daily, so fully paid back in my 3-days stay). Did not check if the reception spoke any English, as I speak Chinese.I stayed on the 5-th floor, the highest. Not much of a view, but no complaints. Rooms are very clean, not large, about 25m2. Large enough for a single person or a couple (even family of 3). No mucky carpets, only tiled entrance area and wooden flooring. Air-conditioning was working well, and no smells/odours in rooms (even though there was an ash-tray provided).I got a large King bed, which is comfortable to sleep on. Pillows were also good. Rooms were clean, and modern up-to-date. No bath, just a large overhead rain-fall like shower head with plenty of hot water. Modern sitting toilets. Towels were clean and plush, changed daily.Room comes with free internet, coffee/tea, no minibar. Nice long desk to work and surf the internet, and enough power sockets to charge all your modern equipment. There is a large 32-inch TV with Chinese channels (no Satellite TV, no CNN, no BBC).Breakfast is free for Hanting Club members (otherwise RMB25) which serves a decent Chinese breakfast. Fried eggs can be made to order. There are bread, cereal, juices, milk, fruits, coffee/tea. Not a lot of choice of spreads, margarine/jam, no cheese. Noodles or rice, hard boiled egg, bacon, sausages, vegetables, rice porridge and condiments. Food was warm, and topped up frequently. Waitress was very prompt in cleaning up after patrons left, as the dining area was small. Efficient and friendly. The location is nearby to shopping (Metro city) and also lots of electronics/PC/computer stores. Lots of eating options (Eastern and Western), and very close to the metro. In conclusion, not 5-stars hotel, but 5-stars value for money hotel in super great location.

    Awesome place.

The hotel is really good. The service crew greets you daily and the room service people daily keeps your room in check within a few moments. The location is just perfect walking distance to eateries, shopping areas and the easily accessible subway.

    Not Suitable for International Visitors

    rating27 Jun 2010

I had to stay here as the hotel I was originally booked into refused to accommodate me as I was not a Chinese national. They recommended this place as it was the closest to where my business associates would be staying (they are Chinese and therefore were welcome to stay at the originally booked hotel. ) The check in was painfully slow - it took over half an hour to check in by the time they had taken multiple photocopies of many pages of my passport, and managed to work our how to enter my Western name into their system. They were immensely grumpy and got into a war of words with my Chinese travelling associate. When I got to my room, it was motel style, overlooking a number of concrete highway flyovers making the room very noisy. No carpet on the floor and no toilet paper in the bathroom. The bed was very hard which is fine by me but may not suit all. No English language channels on the TV and no remote control, so it took a while to find that out! The bathroom door got stuck, and with no English speakers on the staff, I had to resort to using Google translate on my computer and showing the reception staff my computer screen! The door was promptly fixed. Thank goodness I was not stuck inside the bathroom. However, the toilet seat was broken and pinched my behind rather uncomfortably!! The shower wa strong and large, but the door didn't open properly without bashing against the wall, meaning contortions were necessary to get out. A high point was that the internet access was free and speedy! The only express thing about the Hanting Express! I wouldn't stay here again - I can't imagine it would be necessary. It's not an international hotel chain, which is fine - I can't imagine too many motels in North America or Europe speaking chinese so to expect anything othe than I got would have been unfair. But the experience was very grumpy, inefficient and uncomfortable. I guess it was better than staying on the street - marginally.
