    The location is the best co'z it's situated at the walking street in Nanjing road...It is not accessible by taxi or by car but u have to walk just a few meters from the main road.

    This iconic Landmark has been lovingly preserved and enhanced for modern-day guests. Who knew that the YMCA was such a distinctive example of Shanghai Style architecture?Some visitors will be challenged by the two sets of steps at the entry but the genial staff do their very best to accommodate.

    The room level is not badThe service at the reception is absolutely fine and goodAs for the food in the morning – as a customer who has visited this hotel more than 5 times i the last 6 years, I would like to point out that over the years I see that it has deteriorated greatly in terms of the selection and the quality of the food that I will offer to its customers.As of today, the food is partly not so fresh and partly not so good.Also, there are no good vegetables and no omelets, no cheeses and no yogurts as good as in the past, no fresh drinks such as orange juice as in the past -- it's a shame.

    The location is very good, rooms are clean.But this is very Chinese hotel with all the specifics of it. Breakfast is all Chinese food and very poor. Every day everything is the same! Coffee is awful, no fresh juices, no fruits at all, no fresh vegetables except for cucumbers. No good for kids at all! Nothing!Rooms are not big, and have no places to store your clothes. We got the room with no wardrobe, and it was quite a challenge to change it. No bar at the hotel, the restaurant closes at 9pm! Do you cannot get anything after that time! The staff is extremely rude! But speaks English)If you ask for something you can be sure you get something different).The elevator system is extremely stupid. You cannot get to your floor without the key. Without the key you cannot get anywhere. If you want to get to your friend staying on another floor be sure you won’t be able to do so cause you key works only with your floor while using the elevator.The hotel has no email🤦🏼‍♀️

    I stayed here on a recent multi-day business trip. I chose this hotel for its balance of price, location and accommodations, and was satisfied.On arrival there was confusion about my registration (which I had only made an hour before), but the staff was calm and polite and figured things out. The front desk staff spoke enough English for typical transactions.The hotel is in a fascinating location within Shanghai, with easy walking access to a variety of neighborhoods. The hotel's immediate neighborhood is a typical, modest Chinese business district, with lots of typical local stores and not many Western affordances. But the hotel is also on a main road right next to People's Square, is a short walk to the Bund, a short walk to Xintiandi, and a short walk to other interesting places I didn't visit. There are Starbucks, McDonald's, and KFC nearby, convenient when you just want something familiar.As to the hotel itself, on entrance it's a bit of a disappointment. It's old (or historic, more charitably), but the rooms are clean and modern and fine. My room did have a problem with the climate control and it was too hot, in the winter. I didn't ask the staff for help, so it might have just been my failure to understand how it worked.I did not try the restaurant.
