  Starr Hotel (Shanghai Railway Station) is located in a non-descript residential area but less than a 5-minute walk from the metro. Room was clean and comfortable. Despite a small kitchen, no utensils or table ware. Counter staff were nice and helpful (called ahead to our Beijing hotel for us) but only a handful of words of English. At the big intersection on the way to the metro station, there’s a nice bakery offering Western style pastries (right beside a small shop selling local fried/steamed buns)

  convenient location and friendly staff

  We have stayed at the hotel 3 times since 2019 with my husband and I, and the latest one was in December 2024 for our whole family for 5ppl, including a young baby toddler boy. This hotel location is super convenient, the hotel housekeepers are friendly. We are satisfied with the quality of the hotel services and its costs, especially for a big crowd of 5 people like our family, it is not easy to have everyone feel relaxed and convenient.

  Good, strategically located service apartment in Shanghai

  Though a bit old, the room is spacious and strategically located - close to MRT Station, near supermarket, shops and restaurants. The staffs are friendly - despite of lack of English, we use translator app to communicate. Breakfast is basic, with Chinese and Western foods. We need to ask for kitchen utensils, and tooth brush and other amneties to be used in the room, and need to pay refundable deposit of RMB500, although the hotel has been paid. Fridge, kitchen, washing machine are available. Overall, it was a good place for short to medium term stay.

With the Metro station a mere 150 meters away, and local fruit markets and grocery stores within easy reach, you'll find everything you need right at your doorstep.The hotel rooms are thoughtfully equipped with essential amenities for your comfort and convenience. Most of the rooms feature a well-appointed kitchen counter, a kettle, a washing machine, and a sink. Should you require utensils, our attentive staff is more than happy to provide them upon request.While our check-in process is functional, it could be smoother to ensure a seamless arrival experience for the guests. The dedication of staff to good service has not gone unnoticed, with a special commendation for our housekeeping team. They go above and beyond to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of every room, and they're always ready to assist, even offering guidance on using the washing machine when language barriers arise.It's worth noting that our hotel doesn't feature a traditional lobby area. To facilitate communication, we recommend having an offline translator app on your mobile device to help bridge any language gaps.Overall Happy.

  Great location, perfect for those on the run

  I stayed here for work for 4 nights. It is 100m away from the Red Line 1 Metro, Zhongshan Bei Lu station, north central Shanghai. Room was cleaned daily, not the best view but one gets to cook in the kitchen, wash and dry clothes with your room washing machine and the fridge is big enough to store groceries. Right opposite the road are shops for food, hair saloon, and fruits stalls. Convenience store and the bakery are on the same road as the hotel. The breakfast is average at the Hong Pu Reataurant, which comes with a small meeting room with a non-functioning projector. Food at the restaurant is average and slightly priced above average. Check in was smooth with free tea and water. Overall, good for business travelers, and families who are non-fussy travelers.
