Not what I was expecting

This was the very first time I've ever stayed at an American-owned hotel overseas and the front desk clerk didn't speak any English or didn't even care to try. I tried to use my broken Spanish at check-in when the female clerk asked for my credit card. In Spanish, I asked "deposito?" to which the clerk responded affirmatively. I thought she had asked for my card for a security deposit. In reality, the clerk charged my credit card for a night, even though I had already pre-paid for the room. Not knowing what had happened until I got to my room, another clerk at the front desk, who wasn't present when I was checking in and did speak ok English, called, apologized and explained the situation. He came up to my room to promptly refund my money. There was never an apology from the female clerk when I saw her after. The next day, the power went out. My room became a sauna and I needed to walk down 10 flights of stairs. I had breakfast and then had an exhausting walk back up to my room. I know Barranquilla has occasional rolling blackouts, but it seems most other western hotels have back up generators to avoid prolonged periods without electricity. I've never experienced this in the 8 other hotels I've stayed at in the area. The power stayed off for about 45 minutes. After that point, I was afraid to take the elevator, concerned I might get stuck in an elevator steam room.The safe in my room didn't work, nor did the treadmills in the gym until I called maintenance and they got the really old equipment working again. At least the gym had a nice view. zacarias serge, General Manager at Radisson Hotel Diamond Barranquilla, responded to this review the hotel has 2 electricity generators that covers the whole hotel in 30 seconds the ebnergy comes back, the problem was in general in the city ,because of a failure all around the north of the city.we had to reinitiated all our equipments to give the normal service again

To all whom would like to experience the city life, this is the one of the spots to stay. It is in the center of absolutely everything in Barranquilla; restaurants, malls, supermarkets, night clubs, medical facilities, approx 20min from the Malecon, beaches, universities, all is at close proximity (via car). The location is just perfect. The stay at the hotel was considerably OKAY, was there for a little over three weeks. Very friendly staff members; managers, receptionist and waitstaff. Overall food was decent - breakfast was a mix of Colombian and continental breakfast and the Lunch/Dinner menu was varied (a bit pricey for the quality). I was a bit disappointed at their housekeepers, the room was not properly maintained( swept & mopped) and amenities were hardly ever refilled. I also found a few roaches in the bathroom; I called the front desk to complain and the following day the housekeeper arrived with a Raid can to spray the area. I could not expect any better. Excellent service, great accommodations, great breakfast buffet. In the Middle of many Clinics

This is the third hotel in Barranquilla my friends and i have stayed at this year. We picked this place because it was part of the city yet to explore. There area is where many Clinics are located so it is a bit busy , but was easy walking around explore. an easy walk was parque Venezuela which we visited at night time, it was busy with activity even at 7pm. The whole area felt safe during the day and at night. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. Our stay included breakfast each morning , I found it a typical breakfast you find at hotels in Barranquilla. The location allowed us to make an easy day trip to Salgar for a day at the beach. No Hot Water

This hotel is just okay. How can a Radisson Hotel not have hot water in the shower?Even the manager came and helped me and said the hot water would take 10 minutes to come while running.
