  Perfect Stay at Bastion Hotel

  10 Mar 2026

My stay at Bastion Hotel was incredible. The property is beautiful and impeccably maintained. The best part of the experience is the staff; they are professional, incredibly friendly, and provide a great atmosphere. Everything was spotless.A special mention goes to El Gobernador restaurant. The food and breakfast are on another level, and it is worth visiting even if you are not staying at the hotel. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the Old City, making it easy to walk everywhere. The rooftop terrace and pool offer an impressive view of Cartagena, and it is the perfect spot for an evening drink to relax.I truly believe there is no better place to stay than Bastion Hotel. Poor service.

  24 Feb 2026

We have been travelling since 3am yesterday, that is nearly 24 hours. We tried to check in 20 minutes early but have been told that our room will not be released until the official check in time of 15.00. Atrocious treatment! General Manager, Owner at Bastion Luxury Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.First and foremost, please allow us to express our sincere understanding of how exhausting a long journey can be, especially after nearly 24 hours of travel. We truly empathize with how eager one must feel to settle into the comfort of their room upon arrival.Kindly note that our official check-in time is from 3:00 PM. While we always make every effort to accommodate early arrivals whenever possible, particularly when we know our guests have had a long journey, early check-in remains subject to availability. On certain occasions, rooms are still occupied or undergoing our thorough cleaning and disinfection process, which is essential to ensure the impeccable standards of comfort, hygiene, and presentation that we are committed to delivering. We sincerely regret that on this occasion we were unable to grant access slightly earlier. Please be assured that whenever availability allows, it is always our pleasure to offer early check-in as part of our commitment to providing the highest level of comfort and satisfaction to our valued guests. We truly appreciate your understanding and remain entirely at your disposal to make the remainder of your stay as restful and enjoyable as possible.Warm regards,Viviana M. Very much the equal of the Santa Clara

  24 Jan 2026

I have stayed at the Santa Clara previously and was looking for something cheaper tho trip. I ended up at the Bastion and have to say I was enormously impressed. Very tasteful restoration that respects the historic building. Spacious quiet and well appointed room. Amazing breakfast. Kind and thoughtful staff. In some ways it is better than the Santa Clara where you are likely to end up in the new and unhistoric wing, so why half the price. I suspect they are economizing in staff costs by not requiring English proficiency across the board. This absolutely wasn’t an issue for me. I was able to explain my requests and the staff really made an effort to please. Bastion Luxury Hotel, Other at Bastion Luxury Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest,We are truly honored by your generous words and delighted that Bastion could provide an experience that felt both memorable and seamless. It is especially rewarding to know that you enjoyed the thoughtful restoration of our historic building, the tranquility and spaciousness of your room, and the culinary details of our breakfast.Your kind recognition of our team is particulary meaningful. Our staff undergoes continuos training to refine service excellence and ensure that every request is met with attentiveness, care, and genuine warmth. Knowing that these efforts contributed to your comfort is deeply gratifying. It was our privilege to host you, and we would be delighted to welcome you back, offering once again the carefully curated, personalized experience that defines a stay at Bastion.
