My stay at Bastion Hotel was incredible. The property is beautiful and impeccably maintained. The best part of the experience is the staff; they are professional, incredibly friendly, and provide a great atmosphere. Everything was spotless.A special mention goes to El Gobernador restaurant. The food and breakfast are on another level, and it is worth visiting even if you are not staying at the hotel. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the Old City, making it easy to walk everywhere. The rooftop terrace and pool offer an impressive view of Cartagena, and it is the perfect spot for an evening drink to relax.I truly believe there is no better place to stay than Bastion Hotel.

We have been travelling since 3am yesterday, that is nearly 24 hours. We tried to check in 20 minutes early but have been told that our room will not be released until the official check in time of 15.00. Atrocious treatment!

A perfect location in the Historic Section of this Vibrant city.Great customer service! Best breakfast buffet..two lovely spots to dine! Dinner!!Best shrimp cerviche ive ever had.Nice size room on 1st floor with a water lanai in front of our room. Spent lots of time there.Great bar service by Roger on top pool deck. Beautiful views of cities roof top! Great place to bird in early morning.

My husband and I travel often this was our first time in Cartagena. This has been the most gorgeous hotel and suite we have ever stayed in. The service from every staff member was so welcome and over all excellent. Our suite was immaculate every day . The hotel grounds is breathtaking beautiful and perfect location! Very luxurious with out the stuffy vibe. The rooftop pool is also to die for.

Very much the equal of the Santa Clara

I have stayed at the Santa Clara previously and was looking for something cheaper tho trip. I ended up at the Bastion and have to say I was enormously impressed. Very tasteful restoration that respects the historic building. Spacious quiet and well appointed room. Amazing breakfast. Kind and thoughtful staff. In some ways it is better than the Santa Clara where you are likely to end up in the new and unhistoric wing, so why half the price. I suspect they are economizing in staff costs by not requiring English proficiency across the board. This absolutely wasn’t an issue for me. I was able to explain my requests and the staff really made an effort to please.
