Sophia Hotel Cartagena Review: Peaceful Comfort in the Heart of the Walled City

Sophia Hotel is an excellent choice in Cartagena, Colombia, especially if you want to stay in the center of everything without being stuck in the middle of the noise.**Location:**The hotel is perfectly located in the Walled City, in a central area close to shops, restaurants, bars, and major attractions. It is convenient for walking almost everywhere.**Atmosphere:**The atmosphere is very nice and peaceful, while still being just around the corner from the festive activity. You get the best of both worlds—easy access to the nightlife and a relaxing place to return to.**Room:**The room was nice and spacious, with a comfortable bed and great pillows. It included a small L-shaped couch, a small desk, a large bureau/closet, a small safe, and a mini-bar refrigerator.The bathroom layout is a little different but works well: the sink is in the open area in the room, while the toilet and a large stand-up shower are separated. The towels were excellent—very large, thick, and soft. Honestly, they were so good, I would love to know where to buy them.**Value:**This is a mid-range hotel for the area, and the cost is well worth what you get.**Cleanliness:**The room, bathroom, and hotel overall were very clean. Housekeeping cleans the room daily, which helps keep everything fresh and comfortable.**Noise Level:**It could occasionally get a little noisy at night during festivals, but overall it was pretty peaceful—especially considering the location.**Service:**Outstanding service. This was my sixth visit to the hotel, and during the last three or four visits, the staff remembered my name and my preferences. They are always welcoming, with a smile and a kind word. That level of consistency says a lot.**Amenities:**They have a very nice rooftop bar and pool area with a great view of the city. Breakfast is included with the room, which adds to the overall value.**Overall:**Sophia Hotel delivers a strong combination of location, comfort, cleanliness, and service. If you want a reliable, well-run hotel in Cartagena’s Walled City, this is a very solid choice.

The hotel is amazing. The restaurant team is fantastic and the food is fenomenal. The rooftop has an incredible and the staff was delightful. I trully recommend this hotel!

Great Hotel but not quiet

We really enjoyed Hotel Sophia, mostly. First off the location can not be beat. It is right on one of the larger squares in the old city. The staff is very friendly and helpful and mostly speaks good English. They set up a car from the airport and a tour for us very easily. The breakfast is good and the rooftop is very nice. The room was pretty nice but for a junior suite it could have been a little bigger. The only drawback is that it is not quiet. One day we came back from a day out and found earplugs on our nightstand, which was new. They were having a private party on the roof and it was ridiculously loud until after 11pm. The square it is in is definitely one of the quieter ones but there was a trumpeter playing the same song over and over until past 10pm every night. That’s not their fault and I definitely think hotels in the other squares would be louder.

Excellent / cozy / well located hotel. Nice pool and excellent sraff service. Need to come here to have breakfast.. delightful and superb experience.
