Know what to expect and it's great

    rating18 Jan 2022

Realize you are on an island lost in time. American standard quality simply is not there. I wanted to give this place a 1 star at first. but in the end I nearly opted 5. In the end the food drove it down. The island is full of run down hotels and houses and places long past their prime. The famous strip of beach in the center is over crowded and only one decent place to eat and sleep. The Sol Carib Campo is an easy 15 minute drive from that craziness. The hotel is like a park carved out of a side of a hill in the jungle. It is slightly dated but you have to appreciate how hard they are trying. The staff is clearly well trained (try to get in or get served without a mask - a friendly but stern reminder will be given). There is no trash anywhere ans people seem to be constantly cleaning and making improvements (can not say that for most of the island). The rooms are older but extremely comfortable bed. Water is warm. It is true there is an odd smell to the water. It's the high surpher content in the local drinking water bot sewage. The front staff is friendly but a little slow to check in - no real issue. The beach is on but honestly a lot cleaner than any other beach around. The pools are all nice especially the main pool. Note bring hood shoes you will be hiking up ans down the hills and stairs a lot. I mean a lot! The main draw back is the food - it's about the same quality as my kids get when they go to summer camp. Nothing bad or harmful but meh. The views - some of the best around In the end my family agrees it would be our first pick of / when we return Andres Taylor, Otro at Hotel Sol Caribe Campo, responded to this review Hello neilpM3206PO!We appreciate knowing how your experience was, we are glad that you have enjoyed the facilities, the attention of the staff and the services we offer. Never Again!

    rating12 Sept 2021

We've vacationed on San Andres for over 16 years, many years multiple times but, it has declined in quality in every respect to the point we will never return. The people have taken on a very negative attitude toward all tourists, not just us. If you ask someone in a hotel or restaurant (two restaurant exceptions) for something, you may get it but, by the time it arrives (if it ever arrives) you've already finished eating. Many times, you just get this far off stare, like they're looking straight through you... Almost like suddenly caught far off thoughts. No one seems to enjoy their work... NO ONE.The beaches are no longer clean in bright. You find trash everywhere and lots of seaweed piled up on the shore. In May of this year (2021) it was impossible to reach the water because the seaweed was piled so wide and so thick (and it smelled terrible). We just returned from our last visit (Sept 2021) and the beaches had been cleaned but, by the time we left it was building up again. I was told by some staff, "keeping their section of the beach is their responsibility. If you plan to stay in one of the hotels on or near the main Bright Beach, you'd better take a respirator because the stench of sewage is overpowering. There a throngs of people so, I guess maybe the COVID virus has destroyed their sense of smell.Generally speaking, restaurant food on the island is pretty average Colombian, with very bad service. However, there are two very good restaurants... La Casa Blanca and La Regatta. You'll have to get through the sewage smell to get to La Casa Blanca but, once inside, it's air conditioned and sealed against the outside orders and seating starts at 7PM and no reservations required. La Regatta is on the bay, away from the main beach, and suffers no sewage odors. It can be romantic, if there's no rain and get outside seating. The food (sea food) is great. However, make sure you obtain reservations well in advance of your trip because, the place is always booked far in advance (more than a week). The water is not potable. Don't even brush your teeth with it.The sad truth is, San Andres was so bad, this past visit is our last. We will never return to San Andres again in the future. ¡My best experience in San Andres!

    rating26 May 2021

I really enjoyed my stay in San Andrés, mainly the hotel service was excellent, all the staff were very friendly, and the weekend events in the hotel were very funny. The hotel is fare away from the down center of San Andres and for that reason it has a private beach. I liked very much every breakfast and lobsters at lunch. I recommend this Hotel for your family. ANDREA BLANCO, Otro at Hotel Sol Caribe Campo, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for staying with us! We love that we are your best option in San Andrés. For us it is a pleasure to serve you, and we will always be ready to serve you in whatever you require. We look forward to your return soon!

GOOD HOTEL TO GO WITH YOUR FAMILY

    rating17 Sept 2020

This place is so funny to go with you family, but are some bad things in this hotel, like there are many scales for went to the room or the pool was so salad like the sea so this is a point to highlight for the hotel.Apart from that there are very good things like the buffet because there are many types of food (each day a different one) and you can choose whatever you want, or something in my opinion that I like so much is that you can made a reservation in the italian restaurant to ate at night and the best is that it´s inside the hotel.Other thing to highlight for the hotel is the transportation, when I went to the hotel, the staff of the hotel gave to me a schedule with the time that the busses goes to the hotel for you to go to a place, for example you want to go to the beach of the hotel so in the schedule you can see the hour in which the bus pass for you.In a conclusion in the hotel there are so good things and so bad things. If you want to go to this hotel you must need to carry a hat and a sunscreen for the sun and if you think go to the turistic places you should bring glasses and fresh clothes

    Below average

    rating07 Mar 2020

My parents stayed at this hotel and they were disappointed. While the hotel is an average ok, the food is well below average, the buffet serves the same food almost everyday and the fruits on display are just that, FOR DISPLAY ONLY. I don't think the owner has ever eaten in the hotel's buffet, if he or she does, either one will be in for a negative surprise. Costumer attention was ok but service was super slow. We will stay somewhere else next time.
