  Sandra was absolute amazing!

  We had a very nice time with bartender Sandra. She was super lovely, and made the best drinks!Besides that, the pool was very dirty. Guests were eating meals in the pool, which definitely did not make it any cleaner. In addition to being dirty, the pool was also extremely hot, which made the experience even worse.The rooms were fine, but the pool is definitely the reason we will not be coming back — even though we will miss Sandra.   Great home base for exploring the area

  I have to admit I was worried after reading some reviews and was pleasantly surprised with our recent visit. The rooms are minimalistic and dated, but clean and kept clean daily by housekeeping. We never saw an insect of any kind in our room - but also keep the room clean and have a no food in room policy amongst ourselves. Staff are friendly, professional and helpful. Showers in the morning got warm, never hot, but showers later in the date got hot. To be honest, no one wanted a hot shower with the hot weather anyway. The A/C in the room worked great. The balcony was nice to sit outside in the evening and or watch the sunset. Front of house staff and servers speak English (as well as Spanish). Some other staff do not speak english (and I do not speak Spanish), but will work with you to communicate together as best possible. The grounds were kept very clean and are well maintained. Pools were cleaned regularly. Security was at the gate and beach entry/exit regularly, and checked for wrist bands. There were very few vendors along the beach, and they were not aggressive in any way. Food - limited. Breakfast was great, lunch ok, snack bar gross, dinner - suggest you go elsewhere... and there are so many amazing restaurants to choose from in the area! The pool was a bit crowed Saturday to Sunday morning, but otherwise lots of lounges and space available. Yes - there were some late night party people Saturday night that were QUITE loud until 3 or 4 am (yelling, screaming, doors slamming - was hard to tell if it was a party or fight, to be honest). Our daughter slept through that so was not of too much concern to us, but if it had continued to other nights that would have been a different story. Eventually, the hotel staff (I think) broke that party up and it got quiet really quickly. The beach is beautiful, gorgeous sunset, not swimmable all the time due to dangerous conditions but generally ok to play in the waves before the first break (with can be thunderous, at times) but just around the bend in Playa Herradura is a calmer beach, and event further up at Playa Blanca is another. So close to many great excursions - we did 5 in the 7 days we were there. If you want a great option to use as a home base while you explore the area this is great. If you want to stay at the resort in luxury accommodations - go to a different part of Costa Rica.   A nice resort with a great beach

  I enjoyed our trip there Mar 3-10. The beach is right there and is quite massive. There is a roar to the surf and you occasionally see surfers. Great to play in but not much shade so be careful. UV at this time of year can hit 12-13.The staff is really friendly and attentive if you have any issues. The buffet is really nice with an assortment of CR and American dishes. This is a resort with 125 rooms so don’t expect the A La carte restaurants of the big resort chains. Omelettes in the morning were great. You can even get a Bloody Mary for breakfast if you like. It is quieter during the week and weekends are quite busy with lots of families arriving. Get a lounger early on weekends. The resort is located within walking distance of all the downtown shops and restaurants. This resort is older and is maintained well, also good wifi and lots of hot water. There is a small casino next door.I recommend staying here and we will probably come back again.   Don't do it!!!

  Worst all inclusive ever. DO NOT BOOK HERE! Very dated rooms no hot water food is bad bad bad!!! AC barely worked.   Fun Times in Costa Rica

  Amazing staff. Only problem is they crank up the b,oom box all hours of the night. Interferes with sleep. It's not music its boom, boom, boom. They moved us to a quieter room at our request. They comped us a rainforest tour on a tram. The food is so good, I gained 6 lbs in 11 days. (now on diet) Made friends with lots of staff.
