  I love planet Hollywood Costa Rica. It is a cut above, Paula, Elmer, and Jimmy at SoCal, Javier at Fuel, Juan and Caroly the wedding planners are just a few of the excellent and kind staff that have all been spectacular!   While we found the country beautiful and most of the staff and tours wonderful, our experience with Star Class service fell short of our expectations for a luxury stay. Despite paying for the Star Class upgrade, we experienced a 45-minute wait to check in on Saturday. Once checked in we found the butler service to be lacking. Our butler was unresponsive and failed to provide the service we have come to expect from other high-end chains, such as arranging turndown service, securing seating at the pool and beach or managing restaurant reservations. Although we shared these concerns with a guest service manager, the promised follow up from the butler manager never occurred. Regarding the amenities the food was acceptable but not memorable and we were surprised to find that certain items carried an additional cost despite all-inclusive nature of the resort. Additionally, we feel the property would benefit greatly from an adult only pool option. While we enjoyed the local wildlife and the Star class food truck the lack of communication and inconsistent service makes us hesitant to book with Royalton/Planet Hollywood in the future.   Upon arrival we were told our rms were not available. I understand it was only 1130am. When we finally got them our views were looking into another building. We were supposed to be upgraded by my daughter’s business associate. We had made reservations for dinner prior but there were non. Gave our private cabana to another family. The tv did not work. HD a scorpion in our room. The rooms were clean though. The pool area was full of mildew. One pool had to be closed because of fecal matter. Saw many people slip and fall. Music at 830 show was good. Lots of people complained butt they don’t care This resort was a huge disappointment. I would rate food a 3. Guy fiery burger place the chicken sandwich was a raw chicken nugget. Maybe the owners will read this review and shake up management. Spend your money somewhere else. It’s too bad the workers were nice people. Management at front desk was rude and complacent.   Beautiful spot with a fantastic view! Rooms were wonderful and we ate great food all week!Now the best part was the staff. Everyone was amazing not enough room to mention all and afraid to miss many. We had our own personalized butler who became a wonderful friend! She went out of her way to make our trip “the best”! We also loved that walking around the resort gave you the opportunity to engage with wild life. Definitely a spot to put on your bucket list!
