The resort is the only hotel located directly on the white sand beach of Tamarindo. Daniel Oduber International Airport (located just outside of Liberia) is just 50 minutes away. The hotel can also be reached via a 4-hour long scenic car drive or a 45-minute flight from Juan Santa María International Airport in San José. There are a variety of restaurants located nearby.

Units include 182 rooms located in a 3-storey main building and a 2-storey auxiliary building. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The holiday village has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. A number of shops, including a supermarket, are great for shopping or just browsing. The grounds of the complex feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional facilities include a TV room. Parking spaces are available to guests travelling by car. Other services include a 24-hour security service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service, a laundry service, a hairdresser and a hotel shuttle bus. Air conditioning and a fan ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Guests can relax and enjoy the sea views from the balcony or private terrace of some rooms. Rooms have a double bed, a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Additional features include a refrigerator, a mini fridge and a tea/coffee station. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. A turndown service provides guests with additional comfort in the evening hours. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower, a bathtub and a whirlpool bath. For additional convenience, bathrooms also provide a hairdryer. While the adults swim a few laps in the outdoor pool, children can enjoy splashing about in their own swimming area. Guests can treat themselves to refreshing drinks at the poolside snack bar and a relaxing soak in the hot tub. A variety of activities such as cycling/mountain biking, tennis, fishing and horse riding or, for a fee, golf, are offered at the complex. Water sports available at the holiday village include windsurfing, canoeing, sailing, catamaraning, snorkelling and diving. Sport and leisure facilities at the complex include a gym, yoga and aerobics. Various wellness options are available at the complex, including a spa, a sauna, a steam bath, massage treatments, hydrotherapy treatments and a solarium. The holiday village has a number of entertainment facilities available, including an entertainment programme, a kids' club, a dance club and a casino.

Various dining options are available, including a dining room, a café and a bar. Warm hospitality and a cosy atmosphere await guests in 3 non-smoking restaurants. Refreshing drinks at the beach bar are a perfect way to enjoy warm weather. Catering options include bed and breakfast, half board, full board and all-inclusive. A continental breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. At lunch and dinner, guests can choose between a buffet, à la carte and a set menu. Staff are also happy to provide children's meals. The complex also offers snacks. For guests, non-alcoholic beverages are included.

Very disappointing experience — serious concerns about service and room security

Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing. Although the reception staff were friendly, the actual service, follow-through, and handling of a serious room-security issue were not what I would expect from a hotel.We had an early tour and asked if we could get coffee at 6:30 a.m. The coffee was already available, but the kitchen staff told us we could not have it until 7:00 a.m. We explained that we were leaving for a tour, but the receptionist did not offer any assistance or try to find a solution. This was especially disappointing because it would have been a very simple request to accommodate.We also requested a breakfast-to-go for our early checkout and specifically confirmed the request with the receptionist the night before. When we checked out, we were told that the previous receptionist had never placed the order. Why confirm a request with a guest if it is not going to be followed through?But the most concerning issue was our room security.We left our room around 8:30 a.m. to have breakfast on our 5th day. When we returned, our main room door was open and the patio door was wide open. We immediately contacted security. When we followed up with the hotel, nobody could give us a clear explanation. Instead, we were told that we probably left the doors open ourselves.This response was unacceptable and very concerning. We know that we closed and secured the doors before leaving. Finding both doors wide open when we returned is a serious security issue. At a minimum, we expected management to investigate whether someone had entered the room, whether housekeeping or another employee had accessed it, or whether there was a problem with the locks.Instead, we felt that the hotel simply dismissed the issue by suggesting that we had left the doors open.Guest safety and security should never be treated casually. We should not have to wonder whether our belongings and personal safety are secure while we are away from our room.The staff may have been pleasant, but being friendly is not enough. Guests need attentiveness, accountability, follow-through, and, most importantly, confidence that their room is secure. Unfortunately, we did not receive that during our stay.I am especially disappointed because these were not difficult requests. A cup of coffee before an early tour, a breakfast-to-go that was confirmed in advance, and a serious security concern should all have been handled much better.I would strongly encourage management to review what happened, particularly the room-security incident, and address the communication and follow-through issues with the staff. I’ve never been to Costa Rica before and had heard so much about it. This resort was beyond. Any expectations I could ever have. Beautiful, elegant world class food world class view work class service. And the pool? Unlike anything I’ve ever seen the staff? Professional, courteous delightful. Amazing spot with everything you need. Quiet, luxurious, fantastic beach access and very professional and yet intimate staff. I wish I had more time here. You can step into the Tamarindo shops and restaurants or just remain peaceful at Diria. Easy yet luxury and very reasonable. Everything was excellent, from the food and the service to how clean and well-kept the hotel was. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We also really appreciated being able to check into our room early since it was already ready, and being able to stay on the property for a while after check-out.We also booked our airport-to-hotel transportation with Nomad Tours Costa Rica. The drivers were punctual and very friendly, especially Emanuel. The vans were modern, comfortable, and very clean. We also booked a catamaran trip with them, and it was a great experience.Tamarindo has everything you need for a great vacation. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.
