    Perfect place to stay for a few nights!

    The Costa Rica Marriott Hotel Hacienda Belén is the place to be if you need to stay in San José for one or two days.First of all, the building itself is stunning, and the surrounding gardens are beautifully maintained. It feels like a peaceful oasis and offers a striking contrast to the rest of San José, while still being conveniently close to the airport.The rooms are slightly noisy, but the staff more than make up for it—they are exceptionally friendly, attentive, and service-oriented.The gym is excellent. We were hoping to play pickleball, but unfortunately there was no net available.The swimming pools are a very welcome addition and add to the relaxed, resort-like atmosphere.For lunch and dinner, the restaurants La Castilla, La Isabela, and Bar 10 are all highly recommended. For breakfast, I would skip the relatively expensive buffet and instead go to Casa del Café, where you can enjoy a delicious à la carte breakfast along with excellent coffee and pastries.In terms of price, it was comparable to an airport hotel, but the experience felt much more like a mini vacation.

    Our New Go To hotel in San Jose

    I’ve previously stayed at the Intercontinental Multiplaza but decided to try something different in terms of lodging this trip and glad I did. This hotel delivers a superior product in terms of cleanliness, executive lounge (breakfast is awesome!} and friendliness of staff. No matter which staff member you encounter here, you can tell that they have a genuine interest in making sure you have a flawless stay by greeting you and asking if they can assist with anything. Plus, it’s very convenient to/from the airport with complimentary shuttle service, which you don’t find in many hotels in San Jose. Needless to say, it’s now our ‘go to’ hotel when we travel here.

    I didn’t love this hotel but it served its purpose, which is all I can really ask for. We had a long flight in to Costa Rica, and then a long drive ahead of us for our accommodations, so we chose to break up the travel with a night at Hacienda Belen. The property was beautiful and the staff were friendly. We got the Presidential Suite plus two roll away beds for our family of 4 - plus access to the executive lounge, which I think we didn’t fully take advantage of. The things that were not impressive to me were the lack of any comforts in our suite. There was nothing in our suite kitchen to make it a functioning kitchen. The bedding was only sheets on any of the beds. I understand we’re in a tropical climate but heavier bedding should at least be available in the closets. There were no robes and zero towel hooks in the entire suite. We had pool towels draped over everything. I guess we should have thrown them on the floor or have left them at the pool but we have kids who transport towels and we like to reuse them at least once. We appreciated the on-site restaurants but spent almost $300 US on an only ok dinner for two (another $120 US on room service for the kids) and $60 US for a glass of wine and a margarita by the pool. Overall, housekeeping took care of us, we were fed, and slept well in our room. The staff were friendly and the grounds were clean. I was glad we weren’t spending our entire stay at this hotel though. I was grateful for what it was but not comfortable enough for an extended stay.

    Unauthorized charges added to credit card 3 days after leaving

    We only stayed one night prior to catching a return flight, the grounds were beautiful but elements of the service were poor. We were allocated a lower standard room than we’d paid for (but weren't told) and when we realised and complained, were offered a complimentary breakfast however, the system hadn’t been updated and the restaurant staff asked for payment. After another complaint this was removed but on the final bill, breakfast had been charged and had to be removed again. More annoyingly, 3 days after leaving the hotel two charges (£445 and £453) were added to my credit card with no communication from the hotel. I complained immediately by email but have received no response or apology. Three days later only one of the charges has been removed.     Dont stay at this Hotel

    The Hotel staff does not care about anyone who stays at this hotel. I had 2 clients stay just 1 night while waiting for their early flight the next day. Once they checked in there was a disturbance in the corridor. My client called the front desk to see if they could resolve the issue. 30 mins went by and nothing was done. The client then called a 2nd time to complain about the screaming taking place in the corridor. Another 30 mins went by and still nothing happened. the client called a 3rd time, this time being a little more insistent that they do something. Another 30 mins went by, 60 mins, 90 mins, and the scream still continued. The client didn't get any sleep. They complained to the front desk when they checked out. The front desk agent didn't say anything. I reached out to the management and requested some form of rebate or refund for their experience. Their words exactly... "We regret what occurred once again. We have taken note of your comments and will proceed internally as appropriate. Thank you for bringing this to our attention." Marriott has proven over and over that all they care about is money and the guest experience no longer maters. Book at your own risk... I would highly recommend a limited service option over this full-service option. You will pay a lot more for no service.
