  Great experience in the cloud forest!

  We had the pleasure of staying in the Quetzal Bungalow for three nights in May. The bungalow was spacious and beautifully laid out. The outdoor terrace with its hummingbird feeder, great view from inside and out, huge bathroom and heat/air conditioning were all terrific. The included breakfast in the mornings and dinner in the restaurant, Le Tapir, were excellent. The gallery has some excellent local art and souvenirs to take home. But the highlight was the Quetzal tour that the lodge had arranged for us with Carlos. He is an excellent knowledgeable and personable guide and brought us to the perfect place to view the (sometimes elusive) majestic birds! His insights about the area were also spot on. Thank you Carlos and everyone at Dantica Lodge! We can't wait to return.

  One of the most spectacular hotel rooms

  Easily one of - perhaps the - most spectacular hotel 'room' we've ever stayed in. I say 'room', because in fact it was its own private building in several acres of private forest. Massive panoramic windows at tree-top level, looking down the San Gerardo de Dota valley, with carefully preserved trees growing through the room. A very nicely designed bathroom, including a roll-top bath with the same epic view. Immersive bird-watching and hiking tours available at short notice with an expert guide (be prepared for a very early start). Good selection of wines and nice grilled food in the restaurant. Arguably, some dishes could have had a little more flavour, but we've had this impression pretty much everywhere in Costa Rica.

  Beautiful location and property

  This was our second visit to Dantica and it was just as wonderful as last time. Cabins are lovely with fantastic views of the cloud forest. The cabins provide a lovely space to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Staff are very efficient, friendly and professional. The breakfast is delicious & served in the beautiful restaurant area. Dinner in the restaurant is very good food. Price for dinner was not too bad considering quality of food. Enjoy staying here very much. Tip....some of the cabins are a long walk from the reception/dining area. If you have issues with walking on uneven pavements for a distance it would be a good idea to contact the property to ask about the locations of different cabins. Some of the cabins are very close to the reception so no problem at all.

  An incredible stay

  This is one of the most amazing places I have stayed. The bungalows are incredibly peaceful with stunning views over the cloud forest; the staff are super friendly and helpful; the food is delicious and great at handling allergies. The gift shop is also fab! Highly recommended

  Breathtaking, tranquil, and incredibly relaxing!

  On our last night in Costa Rica, we decided to stay in a more secluded, less touristy location. Dantica Cloud Forest Lodge was the absolute perfect location! Nestled in the mountains, with views that truly take your breath away, Dantica Cloud Forest Lodge's residences look rustic from the outside, but are completely modern and comfortable on the inside. Heat in the room; heated floors; modern lighting; comfortable beds and furniture; refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave; separate shower and hot tub; and, a full, glass wall which faces out into the valley and the mountainside. Privacy is provided by the mountain itself and placement of the other lodgings. The staff is exceptional, and very helpful! The restaurant serves excellent breakfast, and the dinners we ordered were truly delicious! Reception arranged for my wife and I to join a quetzal sightseeing tour first thing in the morning (through the Lodge itself, rather than through a third party), and the tour was phenomenal! Our guide was incredible, and spotted the elusive quetzal, making sure everyone in our group was able to both see and photograph this spectacular bird through his spotting scope. All in all, we highly recommend the trip up and down the mountain for a most relaxing and simply beautiful seeing! Note: I'm not kidding when I say secluded. There are a few places to visit and eat in the area, but you'll need to drive to get there (not far, but you are on mountain roads). Dantica Cloud Forest Lodge is a stay you won't forget!!
