  Quaint little inn with great staff and one thing to avoid!

  This is a nice little hotel with a very helpful staff with an often overlooked fact - location of the hotel. We had a great experience inside of the hotel with front desk, breakfast staff and security guard being very helpful and attentive. All’s fine and dandy during day time, but …After nightfall, especially during weekends, Casino across the street becomes hotspot for colorful characters including prostitutes and their minders. They don’t bother you but if you have a corner room in street level, then you can practically hear stuff well into the night. Also, to be fair with Costa Rican people, I never had bad experience with people enjoying their vices, it’s just the noise in our corner room that I am making everyone aware of. To be fair, when parking car at the parking, which is around the block, Security Staff literally watched over while I went out to park or get the car … which I appreciated 100%.So, enjoy this quaint little place, enjoy their morning breakfast with fresh fruit and made-to-order breakfast, clean rooms, attentive staff, especially the security staff and downtown location while knowing the above.We will stay again but would choose a different room which has windows but doesn’t face the street directly. Pura Vida.

  Fabulous Walkable Neighborhoods

  We had such fun tooling around San Jose before meeting friends on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The Barrio Amon includes major museums, a wonderful butterfly garden blocks away, and we happened upon the best weekend festival in the Parque Morazan: great floats, food trucks and a fabulous brass heavy band called Rumesco played on Saturday night. Additionally, Barrio Escalante is walkable and full of amazing food and murals and sights. Fabian, at the front desk, took great care of us. And the breakfast was great.

  Cozy and budget friendly stay in Costa Rica

  Dunn Inn is a charming boutique hotel located in the heart of San Jose. The rooms are a bit small but comfortable. Definitely a great spot if your solo traveling or traveling on a budget. It's in a safe area and close to everything. The hotel's central location makes it convenient to explore nearby attractions. Everything was in walking distance.

  Interesting place walking distance to downtown, but beware at night

  We liked the hotel and the room, but we were advised by our taxi driver not to walk around at night, which turned out to be very accurate. The hotel is kittyy corner to a casino and there is all sorts of actions there until 2 or 3am. As two women staying there, I wish this was brought up to us. On the other hand it is a nice walk to museums and a artsy neighborhood (Barrio Otoya) with galleries and nice restaurants during the day.

  The reason for the lower rating is because of the shower. It was a trickle of water. One thing all travels value in their hotel choice is a powerful, hot shower. The sink had plenty of force, so I expect the shower could have had as well. Breakfast service was very nice, as you're given some choice and it is made fresh. The bar/restaurant is comfortable with good size TVs for watching sporting events (thanks for letting us stay late to finish the Super Bowl.) The men reported the pizza to be good. The staff help with arranging a shuttle to the airport, at the same rate everyone was charging. This old building does have lots of charm.
