Don’t go here unless you have kids under 6 and also you don’t want to do anything for yourself as an adult

    rating27 Aug 2026

This is the most expensive hotel I have ever visited and it really was an awful experience. If you have little kids and want to go to bed early then it’s ok, but seriously save your money, there is so much better out there. The main issue is the restaurant, there is only buffet and it’s totally rammed with kids everywhere, hands in the food, food over the floor it’s just so horrible. We managed to escape after 3 nights there. The small pool has one slide but the water isn’t deep enough so kid hits the floor on landing. The 2 other pools are way too deep for little kids. The 1 lifeguard we spotted was on her phone all the time. There is nothing here for adults. The bar is like a library, there is no music, I just felt so depressed here and my 9yo was so fed up as so many little kids everywhere and nothing for big ones. We moved to Pical hotel in Porec and for the same price it is just totally incredible. We were so glad to escape! The sea is nice and the inflatables in the sea are nice but extra charge (not part of the hotel) it’s a pubic beach Mara L, General Manager at Family Hotel Amarin by Maistra Select, responded to this review Dear guestThank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the concept and atmosphere of Family Hotel Amarin did not meet your expectations. It is important to note that Amarin is specifically designed as a family hotel, with its facilities, dining concept and activities primarily oriented towards families with children. This also means that the restaurant and pool areas can naturally be lively, particularly during periods of high occupancy.Regarding the pools, we would like to clarify that the children's pool is 1.60 m deep, the adult pool is 1.80 m, while the lazy river is 1.30 m deep. All pool areas are subject to established safety procedures and supervision. We also have a range of activities and programmes for older children and adults, although we understand that our overall concept may simply not be the right fit for every guest. We are pleased that you enjoyed the sea and the location, and we respect that you ultimately found another hotel more suited to your preferences. We believe, however, that comparing the experience primarily on the basis of personal preferences does not necessarily reflect what Family Hotel Amarin is designed to offer.your Amarin team

Avoid unless you have very little kids. Not at all worth the very high price.

    rating24 Aug 2026

Totally avoid this place unless you have a toddler that can deal with chaos. It’s just so busy, the buffet is carnage, kids and food everywhere. Hands going strait in food, there were no parents or staff supervising and just total chaos. Nothing for older kids to do when it rains or on an evening other than the nets to play in for a bit: there are PlayStations but multiple kids trying to use them. This is the most expensive hotel I have ever stayed in and really wouldn’t pay half the price for it. Flaking paint in rooms. Nothing for grown ups in the evening, very much a kids hotel which we didn’t appreciate when booking. Hoping tomorrow is a better day. :( Mara L, General Manager at Family Hotel Amarin by Maistra Select, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry that the atmosphere and family oriented concept of our hotel did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that Amarin is clearly presented and advertised as a family and children oriented hotel, with a wide range of activities specifically designed also for children over the age of 7. These include Football School, Tennis School, Dance School, Majorette School, Chef Academy, Pantomime, DIY Sticker, LEGO Pictionary, Friendship Bracelets, Hama Bead Engraving, Coloured Sand Art, Paper Craft, Wool Artist, Flower Art Studio, Face Painting, Children’s Cabaret Rehearsals, Scents of Soap, LEGO Robotics, Digital Microscope activities, and many more.We also understand that the buffet can become particularly lively during busy family periods. Our team continuously monitors the restaurant areas, although the cooperation of parents is also important in ensuring appropriate behaviour and hygiene. While we regret that the family atmosphere was not what you were looking for, it is precisely this lively, child friendly environment that is central to the Amarin experience and one of the reasons many families choose our hotel.Kind regards, your Amarin team

A few essentials missing for the price point

    rating07 Aug 2026

This is a lovely hotel, we are here now, for a week, full board. The grounds are well kept and facilities are thoughtful and well designed. The pools are not too deep and our children spent a lot of their time in the lazy river. The gaming room is a nice touch and we've not seen one of those before. There isnt really any entertainment programme, or a lot for kids aged 8-12. Our son usually plays a bit of football on holiday but there wasn't much going on in that respect. There was a good outdoor cinema, but its only once a week. This is at the higher end price wise for families, and full board opposed to all inclusive. Whilst we aren't bothered about alcohol being part of a package, I was surprised that given the marketing and price position, there were a few things missing which I would have expected having stayed in similar resorts. The most important being lack of water stations, or anywhere to fill water bottles. It is extremely hot here, and you have to ask at the bar for your water filling up. They clearly dont like doing it either. Coffee is only available at breakfast. The only reason I can deduce for this is they want you to pay to buy coffee for the rest of the day. I've never been to a hotel where coffee and soft drinks aren't complimentary or available throughout the day, even when not all inclusive. The food is nice, but repetitive and there is only ONE restaurant that is free. That said, it isnt over busy, and it was fine for the kids - which is the main reason we pick all inclusive or full board over self catering. Rovinj is worth a visit, we used both the land train and the water taxi, but expect extortionately priced tourist tat. Kids loved it, obviously ?? On balance this is a lovely spot, but overpriced in comparison to other hotels we have experienced. Mara Ladavac, General Manager at Family Hotel Amarin by Maistra Select, responded to this review Dear guestsThank you for your detailed feedback. We’re delighted that you and your family enjoyed our facilities, pools, grounds and location. Not serious!

    rating12 Jun 2026

Our fifth and the last time at this hotel. The reception employees did not order the taxi for our departure to the Pula airport for our departure, prepaid, double checked from my side.Saturday 5am. Sleepy reception employee was not even able to order a new taxi, no contacts, so I had to order and pay private taxi, no safety children seats, killing speed. These all with my beloved four small children!!!! Six people were ready to the happy end of our vacation and one of Maistra employeed just totally messed up!!!!!!? Hope to catch our plane. Mara Ladavac, General Manager at Family Hotel Amarin by Maistra Select, responded to this review Dear AndreaThank you for sharing your feedback. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and stress caused on the morning of your departure. We would like to clarify that the transfer had been ordered and confirmed in advance, as per the confirmation you received prior to your departure. Unfortunately, due to a human error on the part of our external transfer partner's driver, the vehicle arrived approximately 20 minutes later than scheduled. We fully understand how concerning this situation was, especially when traveling with four young children and needing to catch an early flight. As soon as we were informed of the issue, we arranged a full refund for both your arrival and departure transfers as a gesture of apology. While this error occurred with our transfer partner, we sincerely regret the impact it had on the final moments of your holiday. Please accept our apologies, and thank you for having chosen our hotel for your vacations over the years.Kind regards, your Amarin team

    Family Holiday.

    rating07 Jun 2026

We visited this hotel for a family holiday through jet 2 holidays. On arrival the booking in process was fast and efficient. The hotel is geared up for children and there is so much for them to do.From climbing nets in reception to kids club, mini gym, games to play, swimming pools indoor and out to all sorts of activities in the grounds ie swings, slides, climbing frames etc.The beach is 50m away and is a blue flag beach and sun beds and umbrellas are free to hotel guests. The buffet food was the best quality we have had on any of our holidays. We stayed for 10 nights and the food was different over this period. The only negative was that the drinks machines were to slow and took three presses to fill a glass. My granddaughter had her 7th birthday while we were there and the hotel gave her a card, two balloons,a cake and a drinks mug with her name and age on it.She also twisted her ankle in the mini gym and they gave her a bag of ice to ease it but the next day they sent a get well note and some biscuits and fruit. The reception staff were so helpful with any problems and information you needed. We were a family of 6,2 grandparents,2 parents and 2 children ages ranging from 7 to 69 and us oldies did not feel out.of place. What a great holiday and hopefully we will be back in the future.
