    The worst Experience ever!!

    rating04 Aug 2026

Absolutely Terrible! When we first arrived we got “greeted” very unfriendly and got told to park in the parking lot after that we were told that we had to wait till 15:00 (it was 13:20 at the time) till the “Villa” was ready. The first Minute we entered the House we noticed a really bad stench comming from one of the bathrooms after we closed the door the stench kept seeping throughout the vents. An the absolute WORST part was at night Bugs and about a million mosquitoes began crawling under the bed and the walls after we told the staff (it was already 1:30 in the Morning at the time) we waited OVER AN HOUR for somebody to show up with a vacuum cleaner to remove the Bugs (the Bugs can in theory bite a human by the way) and after “cleaning” she said that they normally live outside but that she hasn’t seen them ever. After the first night we fought every night of the “relaxing Holliday” to keep the bugs from forcing us to sleep outside. Also the rudest Staff I have ever met in Umag or in general everywhere I have ever been.Definitely not worth any money not to recommend!!Müsst ihr wissen. Elena B, General Manager at Istrian Villas Plava Laguna, responded to this review Dear Jakob Z,Thank you for your review of Istrian Villas Plava Laguna. We sincerely regret that your stay was affected by the unpleasant smell in the bathroom, the insects and the difficulties you experienced during the night. We understand how distressing this must have been, especially during your holiday. We would also like to clarify that during the night only a receptionist and security guards are on site, which may explain the longer response time to your request at 1:30 a.m. Nevertheless, we are sorry that you felt insufficiently supported and that the service did not meet your expectations.Your comments regarding the cleanliness, insects and staff interaction are taken seriously and will be shared with the responsible teams for further attention. We hope that, despite this experience, you may give us another opportunity to provide you with the standard of service we strive to offer.Kind regards,ManagerElena Beletic

Beautiful, clean, great beach access and helpful staff.

    rating04 Aug 2025

We had a wonderful stay at the Istrian Villas. We were here for 3 nights. Our villa was a great size, clean with a well equipped kitchen. The villa was modern and very comfortable. The grounds of the resort are beautiful. The waterfront near the villas is beautiful and relaxing. The staff have been very kind and accommodating during our stay. The first villa that we were given had a strong sewage smell. I politely asked for a move and they were able to give us the same size villa. They were very accommodating with this change. The location is close driving distance to Umag. We were able to go into town and explore waterfront restaurants. Many water sports were available for purchase and my son and husband enjoyed many of them. Elena Beletic, General Manager at Istrian Villas Plava Laguna, responded to this review Dear kristacara,Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience at Istrian Villas Plava Laguna. We’re thrilled to hear that you and your family enjoyed your stay with us, from the comfort and cleanliness of your villa to the beautiful surroundings and beach access. We're especially glad our team could quickly assist with the villa change to ensure your comfort. Guest satisfaction is very important to us, and it's wonderful to know that our staff’s responsiveness made a positive difference in your stay.It sounds like you made the most of your time with the nearby activities and trips to Umag, we love hearing how our guests explore and enjoy the area.We hope to welcome you and your family back again soon for another relaxing getaway!Warm regards,ManagerElena Beletic

    Not open fully until June

    rating07 May 2025

Don't come in May as facilities are closed until June. Minimum choice for breakfast as cater for eastern Europe tastes. I mean who has polenta and yesterdays veg for breakfast??? So for UK tourists only choice today and yogurt's Bakery 7am - 11am, supermarket 8-2.30 overpriced and minimal choice ok if you want beers and chocolate, they sell salad and fruit but been there a while, sell bread, jams, milk, yogurts just in case you miss breakfast as it's 7-9amThe villas and complex are lovely, everything you need, except toaster, most with views of the water. Very clean. Gas BBQ on all balconies, plus curtains on patios for privacy. Not totally traffic free as about 30 German tourists on racing bikes used footpaths at speed. Not geared for Brits as most staff speak German not English. Plus side we found land train which leaves from by bakery to Umag, 4euro bit bumpy but it gets you out.Train dropped off at Umag harbour, walk into centre. Taxi if you hire from reception. Umag is Cafe culture, couple of tourist shops, but nothing open at night until June. Elena Beletic, General Manager at Istrian Villas Plava Laguna, responded to this review Dear S2619YZdebbied,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback following your recent stay at Istrian Villas – Plava Laguna. We're glad to hear that you appreciated the comfort and cleanliness of the villas, the well-equipped balconies with gas BBQs, and the lovely surroundings. It’s also great to know you enjoyed the land train to Umag and found it a convenient way to explore the area. We’re sorry to hear, however, that your experience in May didn’t fully meet your expectations. You’re absolutely right that some of our seasonal facilities and services are only fully available from June onwards, and we understand how this may have impacted your stay. We'll continue working on better communicating this during the booking process to help guests plan accordingly.Your comments about the breakfast selection and supermarket offerings have been noted. We aim to provide a variety that reflects the diversity of our guests, but we understand that preferences can vary and will look into ways to broaden our range, especially for international travelers.Regarding language, our staff do speak multiple languages including English, but we’ll be sure to address your feedback internally to ensure smoother communication with all our guests. We appreciate your suggestions and your honest perspective. We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back later in the season, when the full experience of Istrian Villas – with all facilities open – can be truly enjoyed.Warm regards,ManagerElena Beletic

    Awful

    rating26 Aug 2024

The apartments are ok nothing special , staff are rude and unfriendly in reception, definitely not 4* rooms , apartments are noisy , It’s far to set up for German tastes , no English here at all , the strangest thing we noticed is the facility is not exclusively for guests of the hotel or apartments anyone can come here so getting a sun lounger near the sea is a nightmare , you would of thought that if you stayed on the complex you may be guaranteed a sun-bed but no,Don’t do half board , food is boring and tasteless , everything tastes the same and the choice is really rubbish , the cakes are awful . I’ve had the craps for 3 days now and I’m never unwell on holiday cast iron stomach but not here , also my daughter has been unwell too , I actually think I’ve lost weight while I’ve been here , so for dieting it’s great . The complex is nice and the land train was useful when it’s hot , the train to Umag is worth exploring if only to get something less boring to eat . Shops are nice but expensive for knock off brands from china , you can see this from the boxes they remove the football tops from .Wouldn’t come here again , it’s a shame but tbh I can’t wait to get home and finish the decorating and fluff the cat .Give me Bournemouth any day over this place , A little Germany in Croatia it is .
