  Unfortunately, my overall experience with this hotel was rather negative.

  Unfortunately, my overall experience with this hotel was rather negative.One of the biggest issues is the parking. The hotel advertises on-site parking, but in reality the car is taken to a separate public parking area located quite far from the hotel. As far as I could see, there is no supervision or CCTV either where the hotel staff collect the car or at the parking area itself.A hotel employee parked my car for me. Afterwards, I discovered several scratches and damage to the front bumper, including a deep scratch that went through the paint almost to the base layer. Before this trip, the entire car had been professionally polished and ceramic coated, so I knew its condition very well. Unfortunately, because there are apparently no cameras at either location, it will probably be very difficult for me to prove exactly when and how the damage occurred. I am attaching photos of the damage.As for the hotel itself, it is clearly in serious need of renovation. The rooms and common areas are extremely worn. Paint is peeling from doors and window frames, many surfaces and interior elements are damaged, and everything looks like it has gone without proper cosmetic renovation for many years.The air conditioning units are also very old, extremely noisy, and do not cool the rooms properly. Overall, the rooms feel heavily used and poorly maintained.There are some positives: the location is good, breakfast is average, and the dinners are actually quite good.However, considering the overall condition of the property and especially my experience with the parking and the damage to my car, I cannot rate the hotel highly. The hotel urgently needs a major renovation, better maintenance of the rooms, and a much safer and more transparent parking/valet system for guests’ vehicles.

  A beautiful hotel with excellent service

  We had a wonderful 7-night stay at the Bellevue Palace Hotel at the end of June. We arrived 3 hours before the usual check-in time and received a very warm welcome from the front desk staff who - after checking with housekeeping that our room was ready - gave us our room card straight away. We had a superior room with balcony and sea-view, which had been made up beautifully for our arrival and was very clean. Breakfast was available from 7am until 10am each morning and was excellent value for money, with a vast range of hot and cold food choices, as well as sparkling wine, juices, teas and coffees to cater for all tastes. We observed the chef freshly making american style pancakes, omlettes and fried eggs on the hotplates throughout the service time, and all dishes were kept fully topped-up until the end of service. The hotel itself is in a central location with everything within easy walking distance. We were fortunate to visit during the RetrOpatija festival, which made for a very vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere. Whilst there was some street noise from the bars outside, this was not enough to disturb our sleep and the air-conditioning worked well to keep us cool in the hottest week of the year so far. The bed and pillows in our room were extremely comfortable and there was a fully stocked fridge/minibar with prices clearly shown. We did not use the heated pool or spa as it was so hot but it looked really nice and I'm sure it would be enjoyable in cooler weather (there is a short walk through the restaurant, stairs and corridors to get to it). Overall we really enjoyed our stay and could not fault the hotel or staff, who were all really friendly and polite. We were really glad that we chose the Bellevue for our first return to Opatija in 40 years, having spent our honeymoon in the resort in 1986.

  Incompetence of reception and the management

  Hotel stuff at the reception is very confusing and incompetent, they had a problem to charge several cards that we gave them because of their lack of knowledge probably at the end they managed to charge them of course but there was a lot of problems and issues during the time they were trying to charge the cards on the check out a lot of wasted time because of their incompetence

  Overpriced and stinks of smoke. Not as grand as it thinks it is.

  Was a grand hotel in its day but well past its prime and way overpriced. Room reeked of cigarette smoke - the curtains and bedspread were infused with it. Disgusting. No non-smoking rooms available, they just “recommend” you don’t smoke in the room.

  Hotel facilities and guest rooms were fine. Excellent location. Front desk agent service was average. More of a 3-Star hotel. At checkout, I observed the front desk agent lean over to his left to look at another screen and operate its keyboard This was located beyond the computer screen directly in front of him. I repositioned myself slightly (on the guest side of the front desk) to get a slight glimpse of that “second” screen. It was the hotels’ CCTV screen. He was viewing my guest room and my guest room’s bathroom prior to completing my checkout! Was he was checking to see if the room was intact and no fixtures missing? I was so surprised at the time, I didn’t bother to ask him. Only at this moment did I realize that the (smallish) camera placard affixed to the hotel’s exterior wall to the left of the entrance indicated that the hotel had camera lenses INSIDE the guest rooms and bathrooms!I had initially thought that the camera plaque was informing guests that the grounds and public spaces were under camera surveillance. After departing the front desk, I went to a friend’s guest room (who hadn’t checked out yet), to look for in room camera lenses. Sure enough. Located in center of bedroom at ceiling fixture above the bed was one. The other was also on the ceiling in the bathroom. Clearly visible because I was actively looking for cameras lenses. Reason enough for me to not stay at this hotel again. Can only imagine how their night auditor entertains himself when bored in the middle of the night.
