    Appalling experience

    rating08 Oct 2025

How this is a 4 star hotel totally baffles me unless they just award it to themselves. Having been contacted early in the day, I confirmed what I had already said in my booking that we would not arrive until late evening, about 22.30 - the answer was 'fine'.Except it wasn't fine. When our taxi dropped us off I assumed it was the wrong place as it seemed to be a derelict shopping centre with no obvious signage for a hotel. An hour later having searched the area, called their 'emergency' number multiple times, and found a faded note beside a door that would not open, a stranger walking past took pity on us and led us down into a smelly delivery area where they opened the back door for us.We then got to the unmanned reception and phoned the emergency number listed there only to hear it ring in a locked safe behind the desk. Our room key and a note had been left out, so we set off to look for room 707. The floor we were on had rooms in the 300s so I walked up and down every floor in this abandoned shopping centre to confirm there was no other floor of rooms. The very top floor was cordoned off with a no entry sign. Eventually another kind stranger came back to us and showed us where 707 was located - between 312 and 314!Needless to say the room looked nothing like any of the photos. When I pulled back the curtain there was a 2.5M wall topped by a 20cm window. Even though I am tall it is impossible to know if there is any kind of view.I would absolutely advise against stay in this kip.

    DO NOT STAY HERE!

    rating01 Oct 2024

Absolutely the worst hotel we have come across while traveling to 107 Countries! DO NOT STAY HERE! This hotel was supposed to be nice based on the pictures and descriptions online. This was a last-minute decision, looking for a hotel in this area; after driving for a few hours coming from Bosnia. First, there was nothing in the description of the hotel via Expedia (where we booked this nasty insane property) as to how to get to the hotel or any directions as to this hotel used to be a Mall. YES, that's right, there are still clothing and mannequins in the window, who would think this hotel is inside this abandoned mall.Second, it is Expedia's responsibility to keep its customers safe. This property is in the ghetto part of "Split" inside an abandoned mall. There is graffiti all over the building. None of the local people know where the hotel is. We stopped at the bus stop where local people were waiting for their bus. None of the local people that take the bus, which is right in front of the abandoned building in which this hotel is in) know this hotel exists. The restaurant opposite the abandoned mall; none of the people that work there knows there is a hotel there in the abandoned mall. We had a difficult time finding the hotel. We circled and circled the area for one hour. We tried the number listed online, no one answered the phone. After an hour of our vacation time then a lady who is the manager, called us back. We now know she screens all her calls because of guests' issues with the hotel. She is difficult to get in contact with after an issue with the hotel. Finally, the manager sent the receptionist to open the door for us. The main door to enter this hotel is the abandoned mall entrance. As we enter, we are escorted to the second floor where this hotel is housed. You are basically in a department store. Got to the reception area. As we walked the area to get to the front desk, you can see the dirty carpets and how dusty and nasty the hotel is. Got to the room, the room is not what it looks like on Expedia. The rug is dirty and smells of moles, the bedding looks aged and torn. Nothing in the room smells or feels clean. As the receptionist took me to our room. The hallway is in darkness. U can see this hotel is in the renovation process. So why are they selling rooms when the hotel is under renovation? There isn't any light at the entrance of my room. Entering The room smells of mold. The bed sheets had rips on them. The carpet was dirty. I have psoriasis and my entire body started to scratch after entering the room. This room looks like a place where people go to have a one-night stand. I did notice when I was waiting to be checked in there was a man and woman who seems to look like homeless, questioning his charge for the night. He said to the receptionist that that is not what I paid last night, why is there a difference in price for an additional night? The receptionist then called the same manager to inform her of what the guy said. The manager then goes well, if he pays in cash he can get a 10% discount. These are the type of guests they have coming into this hotel; one night then if they want another night that’s how they negotiate and book. Off the street customers. These property clients are drug infested and rent room per day to cash clients. There is a nightclub opposite the hotel. Now I can see who goes there and rent per hourly. This is the very first time we were scared to stay at a hotel. The local people did not know where this hotel was or they saw us and didn’t want to tell us, so we didn’t stay at the hotel. It was like a scene out of the twilight zone. We have traveled to 107 countries and never experienced this kind of situation and in more desolated areas. This is unacceptable! The hotel non-refund policy should be disregarded under these circumstances! Expedia is responsible for checking and choosing which hotel get listed on their website and to make sure their customers are safe when traveling overseas. Does Expedia send people to check out these hotels? I doubt it! It’s scary when u think about it now. Expedia needs to do more safety checks for their customers. THIS HOTEL should not be listed on Expedia until it’s fully renovated! I would never, never advise any travelers to stay at the hotel. The review of this hotel is horrible, and they are all true because we experienced it!DO NOT STAY AT THIS ABANDONED MALL!!!NOTE: My husband has sciatica, he had to take our rental car a few minutes away from the hotel to park. He then had to walk back to the hotel, which took 15-20 minutes. There is nothing on Expedia that mentioned that the hotel doesn't have parking, and the car park is 15-20 minutes away. When we left the hotel, we had to get a taxi, the taxi charged us $20 US for a 10 minutes’ drive to the parking lot; plus, we had to pay for parking! EXPEDIA should hold accountable for allowing such hotel to be part of the #ExpediaGroup. This is not consistent with Expedia Values and Commitment to their customers, Expedia Management needs to address this issue, not just collect our monies and not do anything about it based on the hotel feedback of non-refundable policy. We lost $600 or more with this booking. In which Expedia is allowing the Hotel to dictate whether we get a full refund or not. How about what we experienced? Security, Safety, Well Being and Cleanliness issues which are all part of #ExpediaGroup mission statement. This hotel needs to be held accountable!!!!The hotel reviews are GHASTLY!!!I would rate this hotel a zero if there was such a rating.

    Stop! Don't book this hotel!

    rating03 Jun 2024

Don't book this hotel. The pictures are fake and the horrible reviews are real. We arrived late and stayed one night. The room was dirty and only one bed was made. The furniture was broken. We could not even sleep that night because of the noise from the disco. We could hear someone coughing next door...all night long. The next morning we advised the front desk of our experience and that we were checking out. The front desk staff was lovely but we were told by management that our stay was non refundable. I am disputing my charges with my credit card company and also asking trip advisor to take down these photos. We then booked our stay a short distance away at the Marriott. It was beautiful and not much more money! Split is beautiful, don't let this hotel ruin your vacation.

Very central, bizarre set up, but certainly not luxury!

    rating07 May 2024

Okay, so I’m only writing this review as this is the most bizarre hotel stay I’ve ever had and I would want people to be informed before booking, as the management photos are misleading. Firstly, the good points - you could not find a more central location, absolutely perfect! And the young ladies on the front desk could not have been any nicer or more helpful…….Now for the downside - when we arrived at around 11:30 we walked around and around a seemingly disused building for about 45 minutes until eventually a kind local phoned the hotel for us and discovered it was actually inside this building - basically the entrance was the door into what was at a time a fully functioning shopping centre. We were given a room that was, without exaggeration, absolutely dreadful, the stink of sewage was vomit inducing, however, as we were exhausted and it was so late we just went to bed (avoid room 307, unless the problem has been resolved). The next morning we said we would not sleep in there again and were shown to the room next door, 308, which, as soon as the door opened we realised was actually worse! I said that we would not be staying in any room that smelled like a sewer so we were shown a ‘suite’, and told we could have it at an extra charge, however, once I insisted we would not be paying extra, we were allocated that room without additional charge. The room was made up and when we returned I actually could not believe that they had only made up one of the 2 beds…..now obviously that was enough for us as a couple, but it just seemed so skimpy. There was a massage chair squashed into the corner that had a broken plug….very bizarre! There was no water in the room and the mirror light in the bathroom didn’t work. I asked for and received an iron, but nothing to iron on, so I basically put a towel on the floor and ironed on it! All I suppose little issues but not reflective of the ‘luxury’ hotel advertised! Also, FYI, there is not even a hint of a roof terrace. Strangely though, there does seem to be some nice rooms….we left our luggage at reception as our flight was late and when we returned the lovely young lady (didn’t get her name, long brown hair and a fringe) allowed us to change in one of the rooms we hadn’t be shown, and it was beautiful!I suppose my summary would be, if you don’t mind staying in the top of a disused shopping centre and you are not bothered by the kind of issues I’ve mentioned then it is a good choice for you, as it’s relatively cheap, and very central! However, ‘luxury’ this is not!

    NIGHTMARE

    rating17 Sept 2023

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!This “hotel” or “luxury room” is anything but that! This place is a complete scam. We were booked her for the second part of our trip to Croatia and within 10 seconds of entering the “room” our jaws and hearts dropped. This place is above a mall and nightclub. There is no English speaking staff, no lobby or receptionist. Those should’ve been our first red flags. The room has no phone, stains on the dirty bed, and carpets. It reeks of filth and the ceiling is covered in mold and water damage. Photos below of what we walked into. I called my travel agent and had us removed from this disgusting facility and moved to a SAFE and clean hotel. So sad that the website has fake photos listed to pull innocent people in. Do not stay at this “room” !!
