  ‘Corporate’ feel to hotel with no character. Uninterested staff.

  Positives- Good location. Room was spacious, very clean and extremely comfortable. We booked a superior room with a balcony on the 3rd floor and were very happy with the space and facilities. However, we found several negatives that impacted our stay. The staff generally came across as uninterested and not particularly friendly throughout our visit. Unfortunately, we also had two nights of disturbed sleep due to extremely loud music and shouting from events taking place at the hotel. The noise continued well into the early hours and, despite speaking to reception, nothing was really done to address it.The hotel is in a convenient central location, but it feels very corporate and lacks character. The reception entrance is quite unusual and feels more like walking into a shopping centre or car park than a hotel lobby. Breakfast offered an acceptable variety, but the dining area—set inside a large function room—felt purely functional and again lacked any atmosphere.Checkout was quick and efficient, but again, there were no pleasantries or friendliness from staff.Overall, this hotel may be more suited to business travellers, but I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone visiting for leisure or a tourist trip.

  Very disappointing stay – nowhere near four stars

  We chose the Hotel Academia because of its central location, and in this respect it really delivers what it promises: Zagreb is easy to explore from here, and many sights are within walking distance. Unfortunately, almost everything else about our stay was disappointing.From the very first moment, the hotel seems strangely improvised, as if someone had decided to convert unused areas of a shopping center into a hotel. The corridors leading to the guest rooms are bleak and look like service or maintenance corridors – not what you would expect from a supposed four-star hotel.The hotel signs a wellness and fitness area (see pictures) and has signs pointing to a bar, but neither actually exists. The path simply ends at a door marked “Staff only.” This gave us the impression that parts of the hotel were unfinished or abandoned.Our room was clean, but that's the best I can say about it. The decor is boring and outdated, with no atmosphere or coziness whatsoever. There was a minibar with fair prices, but no coffee machine or kettle—something we would expect in a hotel that calls itself a four-star hotel. The soundproofing was poor; we could clearly hear noises from the hallway and the street. In addition, the air conditioning and ventilation in the bathroom were very loud.The breakfast is just okay. However, the so-called juice from the machine is undrinkable, and the breakfast room is extremely loud, echoey, and feels more like a cafeteria than a hotel restaurant. The service is unenthusiastic.To be honest, we don't understand how this hotel got four stars. Realistically, it's three at most. For us, it was definitely not worth the price—and even if it were cheaper, we would not stay here again.

  wonderful stay

  spacious room with king bed, large bathroom, very clean, lots of amenities, mini fridge and bar, robes, shampoo, lotions. Breakfast was a large buffet with lots of choices for everyone. hotel staff at reception were extremely helpful to us. very close to a walkable street with many restaurants and bars available. Only thing I have to say negative is that the A/C didn't cool the room down even when adjusted to lower temp otherwise a wonderful stay

  Clean, large rooms, air-conditioning was not good

  The hotel is clean. I guess my biggest issue was that the air conditioner really didn’t cool the room very well. I had friends staying in the hotel and they had the same .The rooms are large. The bed was a king bed, but it was very hard. Bathroom was also large and clean. Hotel is very centrally, located with many restaurants and bars right on the same street with walking distance. The breakfast had a lot of assortment with fresh fruit and anything you can think of. It was average. I guess I could just give this hotel three out of five. Nothing very endearing or special, but not terrible in any way shape or form.

  Brilliant location with parking

  Brilliant hotel just a few steps from the old town. It’s comfortable roomy and we had a bath… joy!There are countless bars close by. Parking was available in their garage at a cost of 15 euro per night. Highly recommended. Breakfast was large and there would be something for everyone.
