  Be careful with the organized gangs of hustlers working just outside of the hotel and generally in Havana. Anyone approaching you on the street with greetings, questions or any kind of offers has only one goal in mind - to scam you. They will use all possible tricks.Some of this people clearly have background in acting. Repeating NO GRACIAS is your only defence. Do not argue,do not converse and do not try to explain.

  First the positive. Great location, right on Passeo de Marti, near Malecon and Habana Vieja. People (employees) are friendly and try to help. Arrived at 1 am. After almost 3 hours drive from Varadero. Bus almost empty. 9 people to different hotels/ resort. Only one person (me) to Caribbean. Room is fairly large. It has a safe, TV and fridge. Internet indicator, but need a password. Unpacked, there are enough hangers and room for clothing. Checked the fridge, it was stocked with unfinished drinks, some bitten off eclair and jug of Kefir milk. Fridge was unplugged. Plugged it in, but nothing happened. TV works, but have to change channel manually. Only few channels are available. In the morning , went to lobby to ask about the fridge, safe, Internet and toilet paper. Toilet paper was not in the bathroom. I was told that they don't have keys to the safe, they will send someone to look at the fridge and toilet paper will be supplied when the maid arrives. Internet does not work. Not now, they do not know if it will work tomorrow or next day or ever. And another thing, there is only cold water shower. Not really completely cold, so I can slowly get used to it. Went for breakfast at the lobby. They asked me if I want tea or milk. I asked for coffee. No coffee, they said. They brought me tea and orange juice. Not real orange juice. Breakfast consisted of 4 slices of white bread, cookie, small slice of dry pizza, and sliver of some cake. No eggs, no butter, no bacon, no veggie in sight. Nada. Did not touch anything on the plate. In the hotel there are only Cuban tourists as far as I can tell. Had late lunch in the Hotel Caribbean. Chicken with rice was not bad. $1500 pesos, which is about $5 US. Moved to another room the next day. But already a problem. Because the window faces on Prado (Paseo) it's noisy. Also the window vibrates. Sometimes the toilet flushes only once. The top does not open just like in Canada, so there is no floater adjustment. Still only cold shower and very low water pressure. Takes forever to rinse the soap off. The water was completely off several times during my stay. I never had breakfast (included) after the first day, but had decent buffet breakfast in nearby Hotel Deauville. 5 min walk. People smoke in the lobby, so it smells badly. Despite the location, I probably would not stay in the Caribbean again.

  Have booked with this hotel just to get free transport and bfst .never sleep at the hotel but front desk staff is always very helpful .hotel is in the heart of Havana on Prado 2 min. Walk to parc Central

  This hotel is a recommend, right in the center. Hotel is not aimed at mass tourism, it is small but nice. Fair prices and really helpful staff.I can stay here for a month. You can buy wifi and relax.Only 1 thing I miss and that is a terrace where you can sit quietly and look outside. For the rest I think one more thing is very important. I should be able to get drinking water or soda water at a hotel. They didn't have that in the restaurant, later a 5 liter of water was offered. It was well meant. Reception and bar is open 24 hours and you can take delicious mixes.And then the room. Lovely bed and lots of space, unfortunately no window to the outside. The hallway is very noisy, but that's the guests themselves, not the staff. Room also has a mini fridge. Nice shower and you can use the safe. You can also charge 220v and we also had a thermos for hot water.If you rent a comer, this always includes breakfast. If you rent a double room, you can receive someone. If you rent a single person, you pay something extra. perfect.

  It is a government hotel and the employees were too comfortable and thought they could do what they want. They would overcharge and pocket the money. They treated some people like royalty and me like I didn't even belong there. After a very loud night of music and drinking downstairs I finally went down at 530 am and asked for quiet. I did not sleep at all that night. It was the worse I have ever been treated. I tried to explain to them that customers gave them employment.
