  Unprofessional front desk staff!

  We know this hotel is old, but we don't expect how unprofessional is the front staff; they charge everything in USD, depite of what they listed in the room for the peso; one bottle water suppose 350cup, while the front desk is very rude, and told me not check their front desk notice in Spanish said all need to pay in USD; and it is USD 3 for one bottle of water only; for the room the toilet is broken, no hot water in the morning, the door lock is broken........

  One of the two elevators has not worked for over 20 years. At 10 pm Streets are very dangerous. My friend was attacked . Lucky for him , he is a boxer and beat up the two robbers. The people are now disparate. Times are very tough for them.

  Poor experience at Plaza Hotel

  Me and my companion stayed at the Plaza Hotel from the 29th February 2024 to 6th March 2024. This hotel has five floors (the top floor is the breakfast room) and our room was on the 2nd floor.The hotel is centrally located for easy walking around Old Havana, and taxis are plentiful outside. The Plaza Hotel clearly was a grand establishment in its heyday, as there is much evidence of its past (now much faded) glory. It rates itself as a 4-star hotel, but it actually is, at maximum, a 2-star hotel. Given the (unjust and vindictive) economic sanctions imposed on Cuba, we were prepared to accept that the room would not be outfitted as per the basic Western standards, and would be in a shabby and dilapidated state. We accepted that the only WI-FI available (free) was in the lobby area and on the breakfast floor, and not available in the room, which required a trip to the lobby every time you needed to check WhatsApp messages or email on our phone, but this was an inconvenience and not a show stopper.However, what was NOT ACCEPTABLE was the dirty state in which the room was kept, even with daily room service, and this sloppiness extended to the corridors and common areas. Worse, we had cockroaches in the bathroom most nights (they came up through the bathroom drain), so I was kept busy whacking cockroaches with my shoe. The economic sanctions is no excuse for a lack of cleanliness, as this is all about personal pride and good work ethic. There was even a water shutoff one night, and it was irritating that the reception did not even see it fit to warn us about it when we arrived back after a day out touring, nor even apologize or give any reassurance that a solution was being pursued. Water did came back in the following morning, much to our relief. On positive notes, the (included) breakfast was very good with a wide range of hot and cold items, the reception and dining staff were generally pleasant and helpful, and the elevators worked well. However, given the dirty condition and sloppy service, we simply cannot recommend this Hotel to anyone.   Great Experience - Lovely Staff

  Our travel agent booked us here, then we started to be apprehensive given other reviews in Trip Advisor. We, however, were very pleased with our stay! The beds and pillows were great! We never had trouble with anything but a lovely temperature shower. Housekeeping was very attentive to our needs as were the staff in the lobby - Michael in particular was VERY helpful throughout our stay. WiFi was only available in the lobby, but since we weren't expecting any, we were pleased. There is 24-hour security.   Most bad service in Havana

  One the most terrible hotel in Havana. It has a bad service, hotel stuff every time wants to lie guests. All furniture are old, rooms are dirty.
