Location

A famous institution in Havana since 1888, this hotel has since the early 20th century been considered one of the best in all Latin America. It lies directly beside the beach and is only a few minutes on foot from the "Museo de Bellas Artes", the "Capitolio", and the "Gran Teatro de La Habana", famous for presenting the best opera and ballet performances in the city.

Facility

The hotel was built in 1860. 9 junior suites, 6 single rooms and 63 double rooms are located on 3 storeys and can be reached by lift. The reception desk in the lobby is staffed round the clock. Services such as a cloakroom, a safe and a currency exchange service ensure a comfortable stay. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. Guests can browse a number of shops, including a souvenir shop. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the car park for a fee. Other services include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service, a childcare service, a car hire service, medical assistance, room service (for a fee) and a laundry service.

Rooms

Air conditioning ensures that rooms maintain just the right temperature. A balcony is included as standard in some rooms. Rooms have a double bed, a king-size bed or a sofa bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe and a minibar are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels and WiFi (no extra charge) provide all the essentials for a comfortable holiday. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. A hairdryer, bathrobes and a telephone are available for daily use.     ★☆☆☆☆Absolutely unacceptable experience.Our reservation was fully paid and confirmed, yet upon arrival the staff could not find it in their system. We spent nearly 1.5 hours waiting in the lobby while they searched for the booking, and we were only able to check in after 5:00 PM.As if that wasn't bad enough, at check-out they tried to charge us for two cups of coffee from the room. After making guests wait for over an hour due to their own administrative problems, arguing over two coffees is simply ridiculous.This hotel is poorly organized and shows very little respect for its guests' time. A confirmed and prepaid reservation should not turn into a stressful ordeal. I expected much better service and professionalism.I will never stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.

    I truly enjoyed my stay at this hotel ,friendly staff,clean rooms and closed to shopping,restaurant and nightlife. Highly recommend.     Worst hotel I have stayed at in a very long time!!

    Well I wish I had read reviews on here first before I booked here This was the worst place I have ever stayed. Room stank of damp, corridor carpets filthy and smelt.Found cockroach in the bed!The food was the worst sparse and covered in flies at breakfast and had small insects crawling in , nothing was covered , highlighted to staff who just eventually came and placed a paper napkin on top of the food but did not replace it for fresh We were supposed to be half board but after this I would never eat another thing here . It’s basic hygiene to cover food especially on a hot country where there are flies.     OK - good location, clean, a bit tired….

    We stayed for a week at the back end of January. Overall I would say it was OK. Good points: we had a spacious and clean room, air conditioning worked well, we slept on a comfortable bed, hotel is in a central location and we had friendly staff. There was a coffee pod machine in the room but you might want to bring some extra pods. Not good points: Parts of the hotel felt tired, the carpets in the corridor on the third floor were dirty or stained, the fabric covered chairs in our room (301), were dirty and had tide marks, one of the comforters was worn, (but clean), the robes are a nice touch but mismatched. The food and drink were not good, I’d guess this was due to the economic situation, when we were there they ran out of butter, the coffee was dire, the hot breakfast was barely edible, although the toast and croquettes were ok if they were on, earl grey tea was ok too. On our last morning there was simply some eggs on toast…. It might be good to stay here if you get it for a bargain price.
