  Memories for a lifetime

  Memories Trinidad Del Mar is a beautiful hotel situated in Trinidad Cuba. The hotel sits itself on beautiful grounds surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful palm trees. Traveled to memories from Toronto to Miami Miami to Santa Clara, Santa Clara to Trinidad via Hola Sun. Hola Sun coordinated the transfer from the airport to the hotel. If you can, please travel to Cuba the people need you. This is part of their lives and are being here for them. Does help them out despite what news sources say.Regarding the hotel itself, we had a third floor ocean view room with spectacular views of every sunrise and every sunset. There are two nice size pools for the size of hotel complex that it is again walking distance to the ocean with an ample space and lots of chairs and lots of sun beds. Our room was kept clean every day by the maid water service beer service and soda service was not missed fresh towels provided every day turn down service provided if requested. The QR code that you can scan for customer service is amazing. It works via WhatsApp and they respond right away. Regarding the food situation as always, I am amazed by how the people can provide what they provide with what they are working with we never went hungry. We found food for breakfast lunch dinner and snacks. Thank you to my most amazing. Barbara who attended to us from day one you are like a sweet mother and I’m going to remember you always as well to Adelaide you give out the best hugs thank you for taking care of us during our à la carte dinners. I will miss you as well, thank you to the wonderful trio of musicians that played at dinner time every night being serenaded while having your dinner is an experience that you can only live if you come here to Cuba. Behind the grill, Master Alexis thank you so much. To the young man Christian also on the grill thank you for always taking care of us for your smile and for checking in to see if we are OK. Thank you to the following people Marino, Pirri, El Guajiro and Alexis el dependiente for making our week feel like we were home. And last, but never least the animation team who had the music playing all week long, who led all the dancing, who took us to the disco who made us feel so happy and alive with their music and their show, Yuneidy you and your team are the best.   Even better the third time around.

  This was my third year in a row. I have stayed 2 weeks each time. I prefer building 8 because I like to spend time on my deck in the shade. I had a beautiful view of Trinidad and the distant mountains. The food selection was the best I have ever had and the staff is always so friendly. Kudos to Osmany for his hospitality and service. I hope to return there again next year. My trip was cut short and I had to return home early along with all other Canadian guests. They opened the buffet at 5 am so we all could have a full breakfast before we left. I wish the wonderful Cuban people all the best and hope this next chapter of their history gives them a life they so desperately deserve.   3rd visit to Memories over 12 years and I found it better than ever. Since Covid, we’ve been going to higher end, adult-only all-inclusives but Memories measures up really well against them – terrific value. I echo what recent reviews describe: • Proximity to Trinidad: We happily made our way into Trinidad a few times – not to be missed and the main reason we came here. It is very unusual in Cuba to be able to come to a lovely beach resort and still be able to be in real Cuba in 20 minutes. The tourism industry was set up with the goal of keeping locals and tourists apart. Here, you’ve got it all. L oved finding a walking tour and also roof top tapas bars that really delivered.• Best. Beach. Ever. The sea is warm and usually calm. Loungers and palapas a-plenty. We were not troubled by vendors. Beach Bar Barbara runs a tight ship and makes a mean mojito. • Osmany – manager of guest services. He is everywhere, all at once, trouble-shooting everything. I don’t know how he manages to keep his cool and politely enduring the guests’ endless requests. • Food was fine - whoever decided to provide fresh bread EVERY day is a genius. I ate more bread in 7 days than 7 WEEKS in Canada. The renovated buffet is a huge improvement, and the food is actually warm. Yes, it was pretty much the same every day for lunch and dinner but if you choose different items, voila! you create different meals! Salad every day (which I can’t remember experiencing in Cuba ever before). A la carte - Odalys leads an excellent team that provides excellent service. • Room, with a full on sea view FANTASTIC (we booked a “premium room” – this was not renovated I don’t think but it was super comfortable and, of course, the view). We had warm water most of the time, again big improvement (we’ve been here where there was almost no water – for DAYS, that seems to have been remedied). • Housekeeping was superb – big shout-out to the lovely Mariela. Plenty of drinking water provided to our room. We did not upgrade to premium service and I didn’t notice much of a difference EXCEPT that dark rum was not available to non premium guests. That seems VERY odd – in Cuba, that dark rum is not included. I don’t know what to suggest you take as gifts although BIC lighters usually get a big grin from the barmen and the gardeners (also took the usual toothbrushes, toothpaste, rolls of duct tape, toiletries, sanitary products, Halloween choco). We connected with Not Just Tourists https://njt.net/ and took a suitcase of medical supplies. Way less hassle than you might think. Seamless. We are worried about what the future holds for Cuba and know how the people go without – almost everything, every day - but have to say that our holiday was relaxing and stress-free. We can still recommend Cuba, and especially Trinidad de Cuba, as an excellent vacation destination.
