  Pretty, famous…and really uncomfortable.

  Although we found the hotel beautiful outside, room clean, large room, and friendly staff, we were extremely dissatisfied with the stay due to the room being very uncomfortable. Most bothersome was that it was EXTREMELY warm. We were only on the second floor and it was very uncomfortable despite being only in the high 60s or low 70s F outside- I can’t imagine what it’s like higher up. The air conditioning is quite ineffective but making it FAR worse was that the vents are in the ceiling between the curtains and the window, so if you have the curtains shut, there is very little ventilation.bBUT- if you don’t close the curtains, the street lights are at eye-level on floor 2. Additionally, the shower was very messy-water all over the floor due to its reliance on a too-short glass. I teach art history. For being designed by a truly world-famous architect in the modern era, it was surprisingly uncomfortable and non-functional.   My partner and I stayed in one of the suites for 2 nights in March. The room was wonderful and the bathroom was modern and spacious. The staff were also really helpful and made our check in the simplest yet. The location is good for everything you may want to visit. I would highly recommend it!   Worth the short walk to the centre. Breakfast well worth the extra.

  Stayed in room 411. Beautiful room. Extremely clean and was kept the same way for the four nights we stayed there. Housekeeping was brilliant. Bathroom was spotless clean towels every day. Staff are friendly. They always greeted you with a smile. Breakfast is worth the extra pennies. If you order from the menu that’s even better the omelette was the best. Lots of choice.A little walk to the centre but worth it. We went when it was -12 and the hotel was snug and warm. The sky bar was worth a visit. Glad we had a voucher to go onto the deck which we were given at reception. Service up there was not as good the rest of the hotel. Would we stay again 100% yes.   Wonderful hotel, stylish cosy rooms, great views and good location!

  Recently returned from a 3 night stay in this wonderful hotel. We booked a standard room with breakfast included. Our room (405) on the 4th floor, had a lovely city view from which you could see the castle and river. The room was spotlessly clean, warm and cosy. On arrival, they had a lovely welcome gift of biscuits, chocolate and fruit, along with a postcard. There is a coffee machine and kettle (with some very small cups!) but no creamers or milk sachets, so we popped to the small convenience store just round the corner for some milk, and also bought a couple of cappuccinos from the attached Cafe in the lobby. The fully stocked mini fridge is overpriced as in most hotels, so we didn’t use anything from it!The breakfast, which was served in the restaurant on the 7th floor, with excellent views, was wonderful. All very tasty and fresh. Included a large selection of cold meats, cereals, fruit, pastries, bread, fruit, full English, yoghurt, coffee/tea, fresh juice, they even had a chocolate fondue fountain! As well as the buffet, they had a small selection of items available on made to order (omelette/poached eggs). A great way to start a busy day of sightseeing.The sky bar on the 8th floor is open to the public and get lots of visitors, you have to pay to go outside on the viewing deck, but as a hotel guest we were given one free pass to the outside area where we went one evening to see the sunset. We didn’t have much contact with any staff, but when we did, they were all pleasant and helpful. The hotel is in a great location, about 15-20 minute walk from the main tourist centre and is a tourist attraction in itself. Overall, one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in and would definitely recommend it!
