    Very pleasant stay

    rating04 May 2026

We stayed just outside the old town on our first visit, so it was great to stay near the castle on the top of the hill (away from the crowds). The walk to the old town was a pleasant downhill walk, and the return was a pleasant invigorating climb. The breakfast was superb and the staff was very helpful. I would stay here again. It was recommended by a friend who has very good hotel judgement.

    Not 4 star

    rating20 Dec 2025

This is not a typical 4 star. The rooms are all different and beautiful but it is not run as a 4 star. Beware: there is a step which is covered by carpet making it invisible. This meant I had a fall. The staff person on duty was entirely indifferent. No management response.

    Mostly good other than reception

    rating01 May 2025

It's a lovely hotel albeit on the outer rim of the city 22 line / the hotel check in was not a great experience but the rest of our stay the breakfast was great / I did give a one star review but changed it as the staff at the diner were excellent and it really is a gastro breakfast / the receptionist should realise she set the tone and I feel she failed in this /.anyway the rooms are nice and yep I love penhaligons / great choice

    Great hotel and location.

    rating05 Jan 2025

Fabulous building and they upgraded us to a superior room without us asking. The room was excellent with views of the nearby Monastery. Location is great for the castle too (which is amazing). Walk is all downhill and we came home in an Uber each night for around £3.00. There is no bar or restaurant except for breakfast which we didn't have - we thought it expensive. There were some great cafes and bars nearby so that didn't matter at all. The facilities are excellent and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful boutique hotel, a 30-minute walk to the old town (downhill!)

    rating31 Dec 2024

This is a beautiful boutique hotel, with only 27 rooms, steeped in history. It's located the quieter side of Prague 1 up the hill backing onto the monastery gardens. It's about a 20 minute stroll down to Charles Bridge and into the thick of Prague but has some beautiful places to stop on the way. The hotel is a little on the basic side, it had everything it needed in the rooms but just a little old, I guess part of the charm some might say.Hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly, which is found generally of the people in Prague. As a 3 day break between Christmas and New Year, we really enjoyed it. However, might choose to be a little closer to the action if we went back to Prague.Side note, we were a little lazy after dinner and got a 'Bolt' ride back up from the old town area, which cost about €5-6.
