    A very quaint apartment

    rating11 Jan 2017

This apartment is really quaint and ticks every box on a traveler's checklist regarding accomodation - location is simply great (5 mins from john lennon wall, 5 mins to petrin tower, about 10 mins to castle, 2 mins to the nearest tram station and 2 mins to charles bridge across which is the old town), lost of amazing eateries just below the apartment, souvenir shops, etc. so its always bustling with people. The apartment itself is comfortable for 4, fully functioning kitchen, a washing machine (detergent is also provided) and although there isn't a reception, they have a 24-hour hotline & the staff members are always ready to help. There are few pointers I would like mention for the benefit of other traveler's (and which we weren't aware of).About the apartment:1. The apartment is in the attic. So the elevator goes up to the third floor and then you would have to take a flight of stairs to the room. So this may not be idle for people finding it difficult to climb stairs or if you have baby strollers.2. The apartment has low ceilings at many places & wooden beams running across (even over the bed). The flooring of the living room, dining area and majority of the bedroom is sunken. So this apartment may not be idle for families with small kids or for people who may struggle to climb up and down. 3. To exit the apartment on to the main street, there is a big green door which one has to access. In the mornings (even at 9 am) we have found it to be locked. Since there is no reception, I recommend everyone to goes at least 10 mins earlier to whatever you may have planned.4. There are two big sofa's in the living room and two adults can easily sleep on it as it's bed enough - but just to set the expection; it isn't a futton/ sofa-cum-bed.About Prague:1. We were here from the 29th of dec until the 2nd i.e., right at the peak of winter, we expected the radiators to be functioning just like that in London or in Boston (where we need not layer when you are at home). It isn't the same in Prague. The radiators in the apartment were at high and it was still chilly in the apartment, but thankfully the staff members immediately got us extra heaters. They came over despite being New Year's eve, so thanks to the staff members we were able to sleep that night very comfortably :).2. Another tip for traveler's to keep in mind - It is highly advisable to pay czech krona's rather than in euros as the local restaurants and shops offer very bad exchange rates. There are currency exchanges in this area, but i would highly recommend travelers to not exchange in any of these as they take huge commission. There are alot of exchanges in old town square that do not take commission (one of which is right opposite to the astronomical clock). Also, beware of people on street offering better rates than the exchanges - do not fall for this.3. Do not travel in taxis, they are super expensive and there are no meters in the taxis. Take public transport - trams are the best followed by the metro's and then buses. It costs 24czk for 30mins, 32czk for a 90mins, 110czk for 24hrs and 310czk for as 3 day pass. Please note the 30 mins and 90mins tickets doesn't imply a single journey - the ticket is for as many number of rides but valid for 30 or 90 mins from the time of your first journey.

I think that this is the best location in Prague! It has everything, shops, restorans, tram stop... and all you need to see is close. Apartment is a deligtful, it has everything you need. The beds are comfortable, heating is good and always has a hot water. I do not have any complaint.

    Let down by poor maintenance

    rating05 Sept 2016

We arrived to be greeted by a very friendly colleague of the apartments who moved us in swiftly and offered great advice for us. The apartment was lovely at first (loft apartment C) and we were very happy with our choice. As the week went along we would be let down by little things that could easily be repaired if the apartments building manager had just been able to schedule small quick repairs. The first incident was that the screws on the bathroom handle had come loose and therefore rendering the handle useless from the inside. The metal under the door had come loose and was free to get kicked about the bathroom floor. There was a large chunk of ceramic missing from the bath tub. The bed physically broke whilst we were sleeping on it and upon investigation it was all damaged woodwork below (luckily there was a second bed). We still had a great time regardless but felt let down at the quality of the apartment. Also the layout could use revising as from the sofa you cannot see the TV (not that we wanted to watch it during our holiday anyway but it just didn't make sense. Also 'mind your head signs' which had been stapled prior but had come loose were tucked between beams out of sight. The toaster didn't work either. Upon arrival back I e-mailed the company feedback just to avoid further disappointment for future residents and also to make them aware of the defects in the apartment. I received a reply that was was very short that the information had been forwarded to the manager but not even a sniff of an apology for the apartments condition. Also the deposit I paid and was assured would be back with me promptly I have yet to receive 2 weeks later. Ultimately let down by the owners but it is a nice apartment and the location is perfect for a stroll into town over Charles bridge and silence at night (depending on neighbours). jjmprague, Manager at Lesser Town Square Apartments, responded to this review Dear Lewis D,First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to write this review. We were happy to hear that you enjoyed your time in Prague. Please accept our apology about the problems you mention. Please notice that all these issues were dealt with after your departure for the convenience of the next client. Thank you for letting us know about the state of the apartment, It was unfortunate that we were not able to get our handyman to you sooner. As to the deposit, please be aware that we transfer the deposit back to the client the day following their departure. Nevertheless, sometimes the transfer is delayed by the bank of the client but still, the processing of the payment does not usually take longer than 7 days. Please do get in touch with us if this problem has not been sorted out yet.Kind regards,JakubPrague Stay

    Great location and value

    rating23 Aug 2016

We spent 4 nights here at the end of our tour of the Czech Republic and to attend a wedding in Prague itself. The apartment was huge, and well equipped. It was on the top floor but there was a lift. The manager who met us on arrival was very helpful and arranged a taxi for us back to the airport at the end of our stay. The location is great - about a 15 minute stroll from the centre of Prague. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Castle as well. There were a number of restaurants in the vicinity and if you walk about 5 to 10 mins towards the castle there are a number of different eating houses that are cheaper than the centre of town, less crowded and no hen or stag parties!

This town was quite enchanting, as it removes you from the hustle and bustle of the busy streets, and markets on the other side of the city. The town has a plethora of restaurants, shops, cafes, and also very quaint cottages. The metro can get you there, or alternatively a brisk stroll from 'Old town, via "Charles Bridge."
