A perfect week at the Scandic The Mayor

The room was impeccable: spotlessly clean, quiet, and thoughtfully designed, creating the perfect retreat after long and busy days. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and provided truly restful nights, ensuring I woke up refreshed and ready for each new day in Aarhus.One of the highlights of my stay was the outstanding breakfast buffet. Every morning offered a wonderful selection of Danish specialties, fresh breads, cheeses, fruits, and other local delicacies. A particularly charming touch was the waffle station, where guests could prepare their own freshly baked waffles exactly to their liking. It was the perfect way to start the day.Combined with the warm atmosphere and excellent service, the hotel made my stay both comfortable and memorable. I couldn’t have asked for a better home away from home. Tiny room with limited facilities. I did not believe a bedroom could be this small. Bathroom was small and limited. Had a booking for one night over New Years. We had chosen a standard room and also added breakfast. The room was just fine. Pleasant lighting, comfortable beds and no noticeable noice from surrounding rooms or outside. The staff were very smiling and made it a lovely, though short, stay. The breakfastbuffet was also very lovely - as someone who tries to avoid too much gluten it was nice to see a gluten-free option already set up, so you didn’t have to ask for it in advance or ask the staff - it also wasn’t a “boring” gluten-free selection. Other than that there was a fine selection of bread and pastries, yoghurts, fruit, spreads and sweet treats. And it looked like many enjoyed the waffle-station. So we very much enjoyed our stay and would book again if another stay in Aarhus is necessary. What a great hotel, it has got better since my stay in 2024. Although progress is not always good, they removed the restaurant, so you cannot get an evening meal, luckily the hotel is near the city centre. The new rooms are good and the staff are brilliant. Breakfast is not the best experience, probably due to no restaurant.
