A perfect week at the Scandic The Mayor
03 Jun 2026
The room was impeccable: spotlessly clean, quiet, and thoughtfully designed, creating the perfect retreat after long and busy days. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and provided truly restful nights, ensuring I woke up refreshed and ready for each new day in Aarhus. One of the highlights of my stay was the outstanding breakfast buffet. Every morning offered a wonderful selection of Danish specialties, fresh breads, cheeses, fruits, and other local delicacies. A particularly charming touch was the waffle station, where guests could prepare their own freshly baked waffles exactly to their liking. It was the perfect way to start the day.Combined with the warm atmosphere and excellent service, the hotel made my stay both comfortable and memorable. I couldn’t have asked for a better home away from home. Anja Klitgaard, Guest Services / Front Office at Scandic The Mayor, responded to this review Dear E7493RMandreasKThank you so much for your wonderful review. It was a pleasure reading about your stay with us.We're delighted to hear that you felt comfortable throughout your week in Aarhus and that both the room and the breakfast helped make your stay memorable. The waffle station is certainly a favourite among many of our guests, so it's lovely to hear that you enjoyed it as well.Your kind words about the atmosphere and service mean a great deal to us, and I look forward to sharing them with the team.We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back the next time you visit Aarhus.Best regardsAnja / Scandic The Mayor

Tiny room with limited facilities
01 Feb 2026
Tiny room with limited facilities. I did not believe a bedroom could be this small. Bathroom was small and limited. Anja Klitgaard, Guest Services / Front Office at Scandic The Mayor, responded to this review Dear matt8190FBThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that the room and bathroom felt too small and did not meet your expectations. We do have several different room types and categories with varying sizes, including some of our smaller and more price-friendly rooms. You’re always very welcome to reach out to our reception team during your stay, and we’ll gladly help find a room that better suits your needs, if availability allows.Thank you again for your comments. We appreciate your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.Best regardsAnja / Scandic The Mayor

Very pleasant experience.
02 Jan 2026
Had a booking for one night over New Years. We had chosen a standard room and also added breakfast. The room was just fine. Pleasant lighting, comfortable beds and no noticeable noice from surrounding rooms or outside. The staff were very smiling and made it a lovely, though short, stay. The breakfastbuffet was also very lovely - as someone who tries to avoid too much gluten it was nice to see a gluten-free option already set up, so you didn’t have to ask for it in advance or ask the staff - it also wasn’t a “boring” gluten-free selection. Other than that there was a fine selection of bread and pastries, yoghurts, fruit, spreads and sweet treats. And it looked like many enjoyed the waffle-station. So we very much enjoyed our stay and would book again if another stay in Aarhus is necessary. Anja Klitgaard, Guest Services / Front Office at Scandic The Mayor, responded to this review Dear Camilla HThank you very much for your lovely review. We’re so happy to hear that you had a pleasant stay with us over New Year’s and that the room suited your needs well, both in terms of comfort and a peaceful atmosphere. It’s great to know that our team helped make your short stay a positive one, and we’re especially pleased that you enjoyed the breakfast. We put a lot of care into offering good gluten-free options, so it’s wonderful to hear that this made things easy and enjoyable for you – and that the waffle station was a hit as well.Thank you for sharing your experience. We would be delighted to welcome you back whenever your travels bring you to Aarhus again.Best regardsAnja / Scandic The Mayor

Work trip
18 Dec 2025
What a great hotel, it has got better since my stay in 2024. Although progress is not always good, they removed the restaurant, so you cannot get an evening meal, luckily the hotel is near the city centre. The new rooms are good and the staff are brilliant. Breakfast is not the best experience, probably due to no restaurant. Anja Klitgaard, Guest Services / Front Office at Scandic The Mayor, responded to this review Dear Curious46563124970Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback and for returning to stay with us again. We’re really pleased to hear that you feel the hotel has improved since your visit in 2024, and that you highlighted both the new rooms and our staff as positives during your stay. You’re right that we no longer have an evening restaurant, and we understand that this can be inconvenient, especially when travelling for work. Luckily, our central location makes it easy to find many good dining options nearby.Regarding breakfast, we’re usually praised for this part of the experience, so we’re sorry to hear that it didn’t fully meet your expectations on this occasion. If you feel like sharing more details, you’re very welcome to reach out to us directly – we’d truly appreciate the opportunity to understand this better. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back again in the future.Best regardsAnja / Scandic The Mayor
