The welcoming & very pleasant staff is what made our experience great ! The one person who we must recognize was our concierge LUCY . She is an amazing soul , absolutely lovely . Anything we needed she directed us , assisted us and made sure everyday was enjoyable . Let’s say she went ABOVE & BEYOND . Thank you LUCY, hope you’re still enjoying those beautiful flowers 🥰💕💕💕

We had a great time here. Was our third time at Puerto Plata, but our first time at the Iberostar Waves and they did not disappoint. Great location, was not that fare from the airport and Puerto Plata city was close as well. The food was great. Lots of selection and everyday there was something new. The staff was friendly and always ready to help. The servers at the buffet were always smiling and very attentive. The restaurant staff was great as well and the Japanese one was a blast with lots of energy from the chefs. I also have to mention how clean this hotel is. The grounds are beautiful and lush and very well kept. Our room was also very clean and our cleaning lady Margarita was charming and sweet and always making beautiful designs with our towels and also added flowers. We also enjoyed the front desk staff. The beach was really nice. The water is beautiful and we always found chairs even if we arrived at 12pm (that’s when people go have lunch). The pool was big and nice as well. We loved the shows and the lovely hacienda we used to have happy hour in. Will miss that. You will not be disappointed in this resort. I highly recommend.

Location was beautiful. Always clean. Food selections were great. Great atmosphere and friendly service all day long. Lucy was our concierge and we couldn’t have asked for better. She was always there to help us out. Would go back anytime.

Traveled with my teenage daughter and husband and we had a great time. From the food to the property we had no complaints. Everyone was really nice and helpful. We were especially grateful to our concierge Starling who was amazing. He helped us with dinner reservations and recommended things to do. He was very friendly & really helpful to us our entire trip. Would definitely visit again.

First off, we travelled Air Transat Vacations so our experience may be different than those booking directly. We had a conceirge who booked our 3 restaurants, and we only went to Italian and Mexican, both of which were good. Had perfectly booked salmon and cheese risotto at the Italian - generous portions. Beware of the conceirge trying to convince you to see a presentation on what other Iberostar resorts are available. It is not a presentation but a sales pitch despite what they say. They refer to it as points but is a bonus system. Friendly until you say no.For us, there was nothing outstanding about this resort, nor nothing absolutely negative. First off, we had absolutely no issues with the food - lots of salad ingredients and choices at the buffet. Everything is prepared using filtered water. I believe the system is called Vero and I drank a lot of water with absolutely no issues. Tasted great. We are morning people so had no issue getting shade - not at the pool and not at the beach per se - there is a section between both that is very nice. View of the beach. Cons: Not a great beach. Inconsistent service / friendliness. Once we found a friendly, attentive waiter we went to same section. Hats off to Gloriouso. We had great female waitresses as well. Also, the evening entertainment uses every anytime of bass they can in the sound system - we were in building 6 and it vibrated our room. And I should mention for those with allergies or MSC - male staff (and many guests) use strong cologne. PROS: the layout was a nice size with lots of mature trees. The gym was the best I’ve been you at any resort we have gone to thus far. They also had classes throughout the day at the beach section. Drinks were great (we only used the main lobby bar) - especially the pina coladas and espresso martinis.The reality is we had planned a trip to Cuba and no country has better beaches. In the end we got our warm weather and break from winter.
