Location

This resort lies in the east of the Dominican Republic, in Playa Bavaro. It is approximately 20 minutes from Punta Cana international airport.

Facility

The resort has a lift and features 144 rooms. The reception desk is open round the clock. Services such as a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine ensure a comfortable stay. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The complex offers a number of facilities for guests with disabilities. The resort has wheelchair-accessible facilities. There are a number of shops, including a supermarket and souvenir shop. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Additional amenities include a TV room, a playroom and a library. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the car park. Further services and facilities include a 24-hour security service, a car hire service, medical assistance, a transfer service, room service, a laundry service, a hairdresser and a hotel doctor. Active guests can make use of the bicycle hire service to explore the surrounding area. Lectures, presentations and meetings can be held in one of the 3 conference rooms.

Rooms

Air conditioning and a fan ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Most units include a balcony with sea views, where guests can relax and linger a while. Rooms have a double bed or a king-size bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Slippers are included. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. A hairdryer, a vanity mirror and bathrobes are available for daily use. Wheelchair-friendly rooms can be booked. The resort has non-smoking rooms.

Sport

A dip in the refreshing outdoor pool is not to be missed. Even on grey days, guests can always go for a swim in the indoor pool. Refreshing drinks at the pool bar and a relaxing soak in the hot tub offer the perfect way to unwind. A terrace with sun loungers and parasols is available. The resort offers a wide range of outdoor sports, including cycling/mountain biking, tennis, bocce, beach volleyball, volleyball, basketball, crazy golf, paddle tennis, archery and fishing. For a fee, guests can also enjoy golf. With windsurfing, paddle boating, canoeing, catamaraning, kayaking, snorkelling, diving, water aerobics and aquafit available, fans of water sports will have plenty to choose from. Guests can enjoy a wide range of indoor sports, including a gym, table tennis, billiards, darts, yoga, callisthenics and aerobics. There is a wellness area with a spa, a sauna, a steam bath, a hammam, a beauty salon, anti-ageing treatments and a solarium. Subject to charge: massage treatments. Live music and a dance club are also options for entertainment.

Meals

The complex includes a restaurant with air conditioning and a bar. Refreshing drinks at the beach bar are a perfect way to enjoy warm weather. All-inclusive can be booked. A continental breakfast buffet provides many delicious reasons to rise and shine. At lunch and dinner, guests serve themselves at the buffet. Diet meals, gluten-free meals and vegetarian dishes can be prepared on request. In addition, special catering options and snacks are available. The show cooking is a particularly special attraction. For guests, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are included.

    Lovely hotel! Make sure to check in with Ana or Gabriela they’re really nice and professional. Restaurant are also very unique and food and drinks exceptional! Staff are nice and welcoming. Loved my stay here.

    This was a pretty good resort overall. The rooms were clean and air-conditioned. Unfortunately, the power did go out one day, which was a bit challenging, but otherwise our stay was great.We really enjoyed the restaurants and the drinks. This would have been a 5-star stay for us, but there were quite a few stray animals around the resort. We often saw them near the pool, bars, and occasionally around the restaurants. Some guests were feeding them, which seemed to encourage them to stay in those areas.Personally, I am not an animal lover, especially when it comes to cats, and there were a lot of them around the property. I understand that this may not bother everyone, but it did take away from the experience for me. Seeing stray animals inside or around restaurant areas also felt a bit shocking to me. I know this may be more common at some island resorts, but it was not something I was comfortable with when dining.Overall, we had a great trip and enjoyed our time at the resort.

    I cannot express in words my love of this place. It was our first time there, and my wife and I were blown away. From arrival to departure, the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and make sure we had everything we needed to make our stay wonderful.Yes it was sargassum season. But the tractor and the crew were out twice a day to clean it up. They did everything in their power to keep their beautiful beach just that.Restaurants - unbelievably goodBars - awesome Housekeeping - above and beyond. (A note left once with our preferences and they were met each and every day)Always clean, always tidy, always friendly.I honestly can't express in words how happy we were with our experience.Guys, we will be back as soon as we can.Thank you to everyone for the best holiday we've had in a long time

    Modernize the hotel rooms and complete all the undone construction work such as upgrading the water systems to make sure the hot water is properly maintained, get rid of the cats and dogs and train Bloved employees that worked the evening of May 25th on how to treat all guests the same (not giving the Caucasian people all the attention and ghosting the African American people including myself). Overall, I enjoyed some of the entertainment (Beach Bar, May 21st), Beach Bar attendants and adult drinks, clean bathroom near the Beach Bar, outside showers and Ashley (attendant at the Snack Bar. She was friendly, pleasant and fixed a delicious Banana Mama). I’m highly disappointed and dissatisfied with my stay at Catalonia Royal Bavaro Beach Resorts & Hotels due to the conditions of my room-inoperable toilet a few times, hearing running water, seeing water leaks behind the toilet, refrigerator temperature was not cold-beverages were lightly cool.

    Bartenders at pool bar and the plaza were great, friendly, always smiling, other staff members were grim, couldn’t get a smile from most of them.No American alcohol, Tito’s/Grey Goose vodka/ Captain Morgan spiced rum/Jack fire or Fireball whisky ,in the bars, after much complaining we did get a bottle of Smirnoff vodka delivered to the room, not what I drink at home, better than whatever they tried to give me. Food was poor, we did like the steakhouse. We did enjoy the pool and pool bartenders on the adult side.
