    Vacation Ruined

    rating11 Jun 2026

The restaurants were all booked for our entire stay so you are forced to eat at the buffet..The whole restaurant smells like stinky fish, the meat is dried and tasteless, the salad looked like leftovers, there was only one small ice cream bucket where everybody stick their hands on. Overall the buffet food is unappealing, sloppy, greasy mediocre and I would dare to say antihigienic. The staff look unhappy and annoyed and I don't blame them I would be too if I work there. The pool had mold in the corners and is soo deep that you need to be a professional swimmer to be able to swim from one side to anotherYou can't relax thinking someone might drown at any moment. The elevators are broken there was plates and garbage in the halls.I booked this hotel for five daysBut I stayed only oneThey ruined my vacation with their false 5 star advertising,I lost my money because they won't refund me although I filed out a report of two pages with all the wrong things I encounter in this hotel but it seems they just don't care.Im writing this review not because of revenge but more because I don't want this to happen to another person.

    Three star at best!

    rating11 Jun 2026

Our recent stay at Grand Sirenis Punta Cana was a mixed experience. While we had a great vacation overall, there are several areas where the resort could improve, particularly regarding service consistency and guest engagement. The resort itself is visually appealing, with beautiful, well-maintained grounds. However, some of the rooms could use a little TLC. As Ultimate Leisure Club (ULC) members, we were unable to stay in the ULC suites due to capacity limitations, which was disappointing but understandable.Service throughout the resort was inconsistent. At times, staff members appeared bothered or lacked a welcoming attitude. That said, there were several employees who truly stood out and made our stay more enjoyable.Dolores at the Ultimate Club restaurant was exceptional, always willing to help, even when it seemed to fall outside of his responsibilities. Elias at the members’ pool bar was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and always ready to take our order with a smile. Maria, who served around the members’ pool, was equally wonderful, often creating drinks that weren’t even on the menu and sharing them with us. We also want to recognize the two Anas—one at the breakfast buffet and one at the lobby bar in the evenings—both of whom were consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful.Unfortunately, our biggest disappointment was our assigned ULC concierge, Angel Rodriguez. He was the complete opposite of what we would expect from someone in that role. We never met him during our stay. We were told he had attempted to find us, but it’s unclear how he planned to do so when he had never met us or knew what we looked like. Communication only occurred after I personally reached out and requested assistance. This was by far the worst service experience of our trip. I shared my concerns with the ULC office and sincerely hope they address them. The food was average overall, with the biggest issue being inconsistency in quality. Our worst dining experience was at the Brazilian Steakhouse. After only about 30 minutes, the meat service practically stopped. We repeatedly had to ask for additional cuts, and the meat we did receive was often overcooked. At no point were we proactively offered more selections, making the experience awkward and disappointing enough that we eventually left.On a more positive note, we had a great experience at the Japanese restaurant. Our chef, Alberto, provided excellent service and made the evening enjoyable. The Greek restaurant was also very good, with quality food and an enjoyable dining experience, although unfortunately I do not recall the names of the staff members who assisted us. The Italian restaurant was another pleasant experience, offering good food and solid service. The entertainment team was another highlight of the resort. The shows were excellent, and staff members like James Bond helped create a fun and welcoming atmosphere with their friendliness and positive attitude.Having previously stayed at Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya in Mexico, we couldn’t help but compare the two experiences. The Mexico property was noticeably more attentive and service-oriented. Even management at Punta Cana seemed less engaged with guests. At other Grand Sirenis locations, managers have proactively checked on our experience and made us feel valued. Unfortunately, we did not experience that level of hospitality in Punta Cana.Overall, we enjoyed our vacation and met several outstanding employees who deserve recognition. However, Grand Sirenis Punta Cana has significant opportunities to improve service consistency, guest relations, and the overall ULC member experience. While there were many positive moments and memorable staff members, there is still considerable room for improvement before the Punta Cana property reaches the standard we have experienced at other Grand Sirenis resorts.

    Do not book this hotel

    rating08 Jun 2026

This was probably the worst holiday we have ever been to as a family. The attitude of staff the hotel rooms the food was terrible. We booked this as a 5 star hotel this was not in any way 5 star. My son is still suffering from diarrhoea and we have been home for just over 7 days, but we all suffered while we were there. We struggled to find foods we liked, couldn’t have any salads as it gave us all stomach issues. We got locked out of our room 3 times and one day had to wait 2 hours outside because they took so long to get there . My husband and son had to move rooms as the smell of sewage was over whelming. The water park is very run down and both my sons had to go to first aid from incidents from the slides and stairs. The worst thing was the attitude of the staff they were so rude and if you don’t tip you do not get good service. We only tipped when we had good service and that was very rare. The pools were ok but some days would be dirty with cups and leaves floating in them. They needed to be cleaned a lot more regularly. And all our costumes got stained yellow. We couldnt wait to go home and actually asked our rep how can we leave early. The kids were upset and wanted to leave I have never had that from a holiday before. This hotel should be taken off the list and definitely not referenced as a 5 star hotel. Sirenis Hotels, Owner at Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort & Aquagames, responded to this review "Dear Sir. Open honest opinion

Please don’t ignore the negative reviews. Avoid at all costs. The place is a major health & safety and hygiene risk. The rooms are filthy, mouldy, dated and in need of a major renovation. The place is like faulty towers / pontins standard. Electric cables used by the staff inches from the pool , fatality waiting to happen. Fire in the restaurant and wasn’t even evacuated, still allowing people in. Foot and mouth outbreak, food poisoning outbreak. Food undercooked, buffet restaurant is a shambles, continually running out of plates, cutlery ect. Tables never cleared . The restaurant is filthy and the queue is massive to get in and poorly organised. The staff are rude , lazy and hiding in toilets ect. The pool is filthy, food , cigarette stumps , human excrement floating around. I even cut my foot on broken glass around the pool area and the beach is filthy too, litter and stinking seaweed un maintained. Poor management , customer service is non existent. I had personal belongings stolen from our room. The safe was broken and never fixed during our stay. Never 5 star, because you have a spar , ect is about standards. But on the positive the gardens look pretty .

Carefully consider other options before booking this hotel

We stayed at Grand Sirenis Punta Cana from June 1–8, 2026.When we arrived at the hotel in the afternoon, check-in was quick and easy, and we were pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary room upgrade.Unfortunately, once we got to the room, we started noticing several cleanliness issues. At first glance, the room looked acceptable, but after unpacking and walking barefoot for less than five minutes, the bottoms of my feet were completely black and covered in sand. The bathtub looked worn and outdated, and the drain was clogged with hair, which I ended up cleaning myself. The couch in the room was covered in white paint spots, and both the bed sheets and pillows had multiple stains.Because it was already late when we noticed the condition of the bed, we decided to spend the night and report the issues the following morning. The next day (Tuesday), the hotel agreed to move us to a different room. However, we had to vacate the original room immediately and wait until 4:00 PM to receive the new one. We spent the day enjoying the resort and returned at check-in time. The second room initially looked much cleaner and more updated. However, as soon as we entered, we noticed a very strong cigarette smell. It seemed like air freshener had been sprayed to cover it up, but the odor was still overwhelming. I even spoke with a housekeeping employee, who confirmed that the room smelled like smoke. I returned to the lobby and had to wait another 30 minutes to request yet another room change. When the third room became available, a bellman accompanied us to inspect it. At first, everything seemed fine, but we quickly realized that the air conditioning was not functioning properly. The fan ran constantly and was extremely noisy. I contacted guest services and asked for someone to look at it, but it did not seem like anything was done to resolve the issue. By this point, we were frustrated and simply wanted to enjoy the rest of our vacation, so we stayed in the room and slept with the air conditioning turned off and only the ceiling fan running.Throughout our stay, housekeeping appeared to do only the bare minimum. The floors were consistently sandy, even though we only visited the beach once due to the heavy sargassum. There was also sand left in the shower, which made it obvious that the room was not being cleaned thoroughly. One thoughtful gesture was that the hotel left us chocolate-covered strawberries, which was very nice. However, the strawberries we did not eat remained in the room for five days without being removed during housekeeping visits. The exterior areas around the buildings also appeared dirty and in need of better maintenance. In general, the resort seems overdue for some upgrades and repairs. We noticed several pool lights hanging loose in the water and multiple missing pool tiles, which gave the impression that maintenance was being neglected.Despite these issues, there were some positive aspects to our stay. The water park was excellent and was definitely the highlight for our family. The coffee shop was also very good. Most of the staff members were friendly and helpful, although not everyone provided the same level of service.Overall, while there are some enjoyable amenities and many hardworking employees, the cleanliness, room conditions, housekeeping standards, and maintenance issues significantly affected our experience. With better attention to these areas, this resort could offer a much better guest experience.Based on our experience, I would carefully consider other options before booking this hotel. While the water park, coffee shop, and many of the staff members were great, the repeated room issues, lack of cleanliness, poor housekeeping, and maintenance concerns had a significant impact on our vacation. A resort stay should be relaxing, and unfortunately, we spent a lot of time dealing with room problems instead of fully enjoying our trip. Until the hotel improves its cleanliness and maintenance standards, I would be hesitant to stay here again.
