    Charming hotel with friendly staff

    rating25 May 2024

Highly recommended. Casa Sanchez is ideally located to explore the Colonial zone in Santo Domingo. Steps away from the main pedestrian street, El Conde, and a few blocks to the main plaza. It is a small, charming place with a refreshing swimming pool, a rooftop area with a self-serve bar, jacuzzi and lounge area, and a delightful center patio garden where a good breakfast is served. The rooms are comfortable with good mattresses, smart TV, plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Saludos to Juan at the front desk who is always cheerful and ready to help you with anything.

Anytime your in zona colonial you have to stay at casa Sanchez trust me. The location is perfectly located right in the heart of everything. Nelsa is a great manager and very helpful and Juan is also great at what he does. The whole staff is amazing and I had a great time there. I will always stay at Casa Sanchez when I’m in the area because they have great ownership and great management.

Peace and tranquility. 5 Stars .

Casa Sanchez is my go to hotel when visiting friends in Santo Domingo It is located in an Enesco Heritage Center. One block away from the famous El Conde with parks, restaurants, music and shopping .Hotel Casa Sanchez is very peaceful, has a beautiful pool on the first floor and a rooftop bar and hot tub on the second floor. The staff is very helpful and courteous. My room had a beautiful bathtub and shower and the bed had a mattress that I just melted into (very comfortable). The staff makes you feel like you're home. I highly recommend Casa Sanchez 😘I Jessica B, Owner at Casa Sanchez Boutique Hotel, responded to this review Thanks for your great review. Everyone loves the location of the hotel, it's just a few steps from the Conde and close to everything that you could want to explore in the Colonial Zone. And it's true that when you step out from the hustle and bustle of the street, the hotel is calm and peaceful, a little oasis. I'm pleased you enjoyed our hospitality and that you liked our mattresses which are actually hand-made for us by Dominican craftsmen. I hope you will come back and see us again soon, it was a pleasure to take care of you. Jessica

    Rooms run down

    rating06 Feb 2024

I went to look at this hotel two years ago when I was on another trip and decided on my next trip I would stay here. Upon arrival I see they have expanded to building next door also. Once I checked into my room and looked around it was apparent the hotel had gone downhill. The pool area had missing tiles around pool my room was terrible with wallpaper coming off, the bed sheets were not clean and the bed made noise ever time I moved, the curtains in the room were so bad I can’t even explain and bathroom shower was below average. I kindly went to the front and they agreed to show me another room which I did look and the other room was better but having been in other room I just was not comfortable staying. I ask if I could get refund for a part of reservation she informed me that it was booked through Expedia and it was past time to issue any refund so I would have to pay all 4 days. She is correct about reservations and cancel policy as I read. I took a walk in city to find another hotel and left. Jessica B, Owner at Casa Sanchez Boutique Hotel, responded to this review Hello again. Firstly I want to assure you that the whole of my team is absolutely devastated to have received this review, particularly since you are posting negative reviews on a number of sites We just wish we could have done something to make you happy and enjoy your stay with us. I'd like to make a few points in response to your review. When you arrived we showed you to your room. Clearly the decor was not to your taste. You said that you hated the curtains. You also said you didn't like the furniture in that room (we are a historic house and the furniture is old). And you said you didn't like the view. (We are in a historic area with buildings all around us, and obviously we can't do much about the view). We showed you a second room and you said the bed was too small (it was a Queen bed and you booked a Queen room). Eventually you said you didn't want to stay and left. You comment on the fact that there was wallpaper coming off the wall honestly we have checked and can't find any evidence of this. You are now also mentioning that there were tiles missing from the pool, this was not mentioned in other reviews you posted, nor at any point during your visit to the hotel. And you are also saying that the sheets were not clean, again this wasn't mentioned previously. The sheets were clean, there is absolutely no way that we would ever sell a room with dirty sheets. All of our rooms are thoroughly cleaned and then independently checked before a guest stays. I have a team of professionals who work in the hotel. The manager has over 25 years' experience, the ladies who clean the rooms all have at least 5 years hotel experience. I completely get the fact that the decoration wasn't to your taste but I honestly don't think you are painting a true picture of our hotel in your comments. I have two staff who are solely working on maintenance (for a 15-bed property). We are constantly painting and repairing. And I have four staff who are dedicated to cleaning. Our staff use checklists to ensure that rooms are guest-ready. We are three-star historic house hotel, with rooms which sell for about US$ 100 a night. We're never going to be a Ritz Carlton - if you are comparing us to a US$ 500 a night hotel then clearly you will be disappointed. But we are definitely clean, and we are definitely not run-down. I understand that we cannot please all guests all of the time, I'm genuinely sorry that you didn't like what we are doing. The guest who stayed in the room after you has now extended his stay 4 times, he loves the room, he loves the decor, he loves our service. The guest who stayed in the same room before you gave us 10 out of 10. We haven't decorated or changed anything in that room. I just want to make the point that we did try our best, with a full hotel, in high season, to try and find a room that you liked but you decided to leave. I wish you had given us at least a chance and stayed at least one night. And I am genuinely sorry it didn't work out how we both hoped it would.

A gem of a place in the Colonial Zone

    rating19 Jan 2024

This is a gem of a place. A small, well appointed, 3-star hotel (even though a plaque next to the door has 4 stars). The hotel occupies a couple of historic houses in the Colonial Zone of SD. The rooms are well appointed, breakfast is very pleasantly served in one of the two patios, while a small jacuzzi in the roof terrace provides a nice relaxing opportunity. The swimming pool in the second patio is not large enough for swimming and it does not receive much direct sunlight. All in all, the hotel is highly recommended to explore the Colonial Zone.
