BEST HOTEL EXPERIENCE BYFAR!!
08 Jan 2026
I’m writing another review for this place because maybe the 1st time we stayed here we got lucky and received the ‘honeymoon’ aka white glove service treatment but NO, I was wrong. We stayed for two weeks and were treated the same way!We arrived at around 5am on 12/26 due to our flight being delayed for more than a few hours. Immediately we were greeted and escorted to our room without hesitation and without any compilations that sometimes is received at hotels when checking in. The room was as well kept, stocked, clean and comfortable as I remembered it( and this went on for EVERY NIGHT), 5 stars to the cleaning staff as well. After a nice long needed rest, my wife and I went to eat at the hotel’s restaurant called AZUL. There’s no way that I can express in words that whoever reads this wouldn’t believe it. All I have to say is that you would just have to experience it for yourself. Chef Francisco is a magician. I honestly don’t want to be giving such high praise for him not to go elsewhere but he can last with the best of them! Every meal on the menu is delicious! Usually restaurants have their go to meals, this one is the WHOLE menu! The location of the hotel has many great restaurants around and we chose every night to eat at AZUL. Not only the food is amazing but their staff! Dignora, Iliana, Moises, Yanet, Admeri… when you want to talk about an All Star team, well here it is! Every day, either for their delicious breakfast buffet or whatever time you decide to eat, they are not only here to serve, but they aim to please and welcome you with love. I have never been to an establishment that I have received such love and we have been to many 5 star hotels in various countries and not one can compare to this Hodelpa. Some of the reviews I have read for this particular hotel I don’t agree with but just like the saying goes about a-holes is just like an opinion, everyone has one. I’m not at all a telemarketer or get anything out of giving a good review but I feel people who have never been to DR and have no idea where to stay, please consider everything I wrote and TRUST me, you will not be disappointed. The ONLY disappointment that I have to admit about this hotel is leaving! Gestor de Experiencia, Guest Services / Front Office at Hodelpa Caribe Colonial Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest, thank you very much for taking the time to share your wonderful experience with us. We are delighted to hear that your stay exceeded your expectations and that you received exceptional service throughout your two-week visit. It is gratifying to know that our team, including Chef Francisco and the staff at AZUL, contributed to making your dining experiences memorable. Your kind words about our cleaning staff and the overall atmosphere of our establishment truly inspire us to continue providing outstanding service. We appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable stay in the future.

Poor sleeping conditions.
13 Dec 2025
The cantina in front of the hotel was playing loud music past 3am. It also smelled like himidity. Nothing more to add………… Yuribell Chez, General Manager at Hodelpa Caribe Colonial Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.I am truly sorry to hear that your rest was disturbed by the noise from the nearby establishment. While the music comes from an external source, I understand how frustrating it is to have your sleep interrupted until 3 AM, and I sincerely apologize for the discomfort this caused. We are currently in communication with our neighbors and local authorities to ensure that the peace and quiet of our guests are respected moving forward.I also want to apologize for the humidity smell you mentioned. As a General Manager who values consistency and excellence, this does not meet the standards we strive to provide. I have already met with my maintenance and housekeeping teams to investigate the cause and ensure that our rooms remain fresh and comfortable for every guest. We would love the opportunity to welcome you back and provide you with the flawless experience you deserve. If you would like to discuss your stay further, please feel free to reach out to me directly.Sincerely,Yuribell Chez

Terrible experience
27 Sept 2025
Nothing works in this hotel, blinking lampsslow, very slow shower drainage, water goes out, causing a very slippery floor, loose grab bar, slow toilet. Phone does not work neither the TV. Authorities should look intothis. Foreigners may stop coming toDR, because of this bad image.Do no try report anything becausenothing will be done. Good luck to those who dare to register in this hotel. Yuribell Chez, General Manager at Hodelpa Caribe Colonial Hotel, responded to this review Dear Mr. Oscar,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, although I am deeply concerned by the description of your stay. As the General Manager, I must extend my sincere apologies for any aspect of your visit that left you feeling disappointed or frustrated.Your safety and comfort are our highest priorities, and a failure of this magnitude is unacceptable. However, I must also address your valuable feedback regarding our service communication. While we strive to resolve every issue immediately upon being notified, after reviewing our logs and guest interactions from your stay, we cannot find any record of these specific and critical maintenance issues being reported to our Front Desk or Engineering team during your visit.Had we been alerted to the non-functioning amenities or, more importantly, the safety hazards like the loose grab bar and the drainage problem, we would have immediately deployed our team to fix them or swiftly moved you to a fully functional room. We regret that this communication gap—or the belief that reporting would be futile—prevented us from making things right while you were here.We take your concerns about the image of Dominican hospitality very seriously. We are not only reviewing our maintenance protocols but are also retraining our staff to ensure every guest feels empowered and confident that their concerns will be acted upon immediately.I would love for you to give us another oportunity, please cotact me directly on your next visit, Yuribell Chez, General Manager ychez@hodelpa.com
