Best option close to the sphinx gate

    rating25 May 2026

Unusually for me I spent an absolute age, on deciding which hotel to stay in close to the pyramids. Being my 9th visit to Egypt, I know that things are not always as they appear and ratings are not the same as in other countries, so you should generally control your expectations. With that said the Mamlouk hotel, probably exceeded my expectations. It claims to be 3 star and I would say it was.I have stayed in many 4/5 star hotels in Egypt that did not come close to their rating. I stayed in room 509 which was the panoramic luxury pyramid view suite and we enjoyed our stay. Great view, comfortable bed, good shower. There are always little niggles in these Egyptian hotels, maintenance issues and the like, but this hotel left a far better impression than a lot. No hassle, good breakfast, especially the omelettes. Most important excellent view of the pyramids and sphinx from the rooftop restaurant and only 3/5 minutes walk from the sphinx gate. Would stay again and would recommend if you want to be in the close vicinity of the sphinx. Please note I have been a travel agent for over 30 years and have travelled a lot.

Pyramids, Saqqara, Great Egyptian Museum, Egyptian Papyrus Museum and Memphis trip.

Absolutely beautiful boutique hotel! We booked the panoramic pyramids view suite, and waking up to that view was beyond amazing. The staff at reception were extremely helpful, particularly with any questions I had before the trip, and they arranged our airport transfers both ways and also a private tour guide for two days who was outstanding. A small note: the waiting staff on the terrace, where the views of the pyramids were uninterrupted, seemed a little off, but the rest of the staff could not do enough for you. We were so close to the pyramids, and the value for money was great. The entrance to the boutique hotel was beautiful; it had a lovely fountain and seating area. The hotel was very clean, and I would definitely stay here again. 🤩 I highly recommend this hotel. Thank you Mamlouk hotel.

    Best view and staff

The best hotel in Giza. The rooms are clean and tastefully furnished. The view from their panoramic terrace is truly incredible! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner—all with a truly incredible view. Mr. Reda and his entire staff were incredibly kind and professional, helping us with all our minor issues and inconveniences. We hope to return soon.

Comfortable hotel close to the pyramids with some noise issues.

    rating06 Feb 2026

This is a decent hotel, just a short stroll from the entrance to the pyramids. The staff all seem pleasant and it’s comfortable and safe. I stayed in room 506, which is the hotel’s superior suite. It’s a good sized room with a wrap-around balcony that offers a great view of the pyramids but also partly butts right up against another hotel’s roof terrace. You could easily climb over! It wasn’t really a problem during the five nights I was there as it wasn’t occupied that much but some rooms look directly out onto it. Being on the fifth floor meant I was staying directly below the sixth floor restaurant. The grinding sound from chairs and tables being moved around is relentless. It starts shortly after 6am and goes on till about midnight! Unfortunately while I was there, they were also renovating the canopy over the restaurant, with work starting after breakfast and carrying on until 11pm each evening! Complaints were met with a promise that work ‘will stop soon’ but of course, it never did. That, and the noise from the road with the constant honking of vehicle horns, shouting, dogs barking and the loud music from a ‘bar’ across the road, meant I I had to sleep with earplugs. The restaurant itself is quite good and I had a few OK meals there, albeit without alcohol because this is a ‘dry’ hotel. The view from the restaurant is great, especially if you get a front row table, which I often did at breakfast. On the subject of breakfast, the buffet could be improved but it served a purpose. It’s the same stuff every day, with a chef part of the time making omelettes. Coffee comes from a self service machine. If you don’t mind noise, then this could be a good option for visiting the pyramids. It certainly seemed better that some of the other nearby options.
