  Beautiful hotel

  My partner and I stayed here from the 16th and sadly left yesterday evening.Our first time to Makadi bay, however, we have stayed in Hurghada before. We really enjoyed our stay here.Our room 266 was lovely, spotlessly cleaned every day. We went to the beach for a couple of days, lovely beach, sea water was very cold though so we stayed by the beach for the rest of our stay. Water is very clear and you can snorkel off the beach. The pool and surrounding area is beautiful, the amazing attentiveness from the pool guys and the bar staff, they all deserve credit for their hard work, politeness and attentiveness. We stayed at the bar in the evening because we enjoyed the company of the bar staff and watching them making the cocktails. During the day, the activities team were always pleasant and went out of their way to talk to you and tried to get you involved with the activities and did the same in the evening. The activities in the evening were excellent, especially enjoyed the water ballet which we've never seen before in a hotel. The food here is absolutely amazing. Outstanding quality throughout. We did not go to any of the a la carte restaurant because there was a great variety of choice. Again, all of the staff, chefs work incredibly hard, thank you. This hotel deserves it's 5* rating .Its absolutely immaculate with the most humble and hard working staff. We will definitely return here, hopefully in September.   3rd visit and first for 18 months. There have been some changes that both improve and reduce the offering here. The one constant is the staff. Nothing is too much trouble and they work tirelessly to ensure a stay here is comfortable and relaxing. The communal areas are kept immaculate by an army of cleaners, gardeners, maintenance staff and pool attendants. The rooms though are looking tired and a bit dated compared to other Jaz hotels in Makadi Bay and central Hurghada. Stains on the bottoms of doors/door frames, obvious multiple attempts to repair the same wardrobe door handle, corroded shower screens to name a few. They are now advertised as Adult Only but there were lots of children during my stay. They may be legacy bookings from before the change in age policy, so if you want solely adults only, it's best to check with the hotel or your tour operator prior to booking.The all inclusive offering continues to be watered down. On my first stay several years ago the in room mini bar was free, second visit only soft drinks were free and now, only water is free. There were no drinks menus out anywhere so cocktails/speciality drinks seemed limited.Internet connectivity has improved immensely and this is the first time in many years of not needing to use an e-sim in Makadi Bay.I like the concept of several smaller hotels forming one resort. You get a sense of intimacy and familiarity that really helps you relax. Drinks service is quick, the restaurant is never overwhelmed and there's plenty of sunbeds.It's a nice hotel that ticks a lot of boxes. If your sole requirement is relaxation without the extra refinements and you're able to look beyond the minor deficiencies, it will be an enjoyable stay here.   We booked a royal suite at this lovely hotel and the heated pool and private garden were just idyllic. The service was exemplary with every staff member trying their best to please. The food in the main restaurant was the best we have had in our many visits to Egypt. There were a huge range of breads and salads, the cakes and desserts were excellent and the main courses changed daily - delicious lamb, salmon, beef, turkey and even roast quail one day as well as prepared casseroles and so on.   A lovely relaxing time very clean the food was amazing and a great choice. Our room was spacious mustifa just spoilt us ,all staff were eager to ensure you enjoyed your holiday.The area…. gardens were immaculate beautiful walks and the beach was impressive.   Too many niggles for it to be a 5 star

  Just left this resort after 9 nights. We had high expectations and unfortunately it did fall short.We wanted to leave a report whilst in the resort but Trip Adviser is blocked in Makadi which tells you something…Very nice check in and very warm welcome so off to a great start.Shown to our room and immediately nipped out for a drink as it was late and we needed a refreshment. Note all beverages after midnight are chargeable.When we returned to the room we noticed a vibration through the building structure. Turns out this was the air conditioning plant on the roof. They did offer to move us but it was several days before they could do so as the hotel was full.You need to get up at 6:00 am if you want a decent sunbed as that’s when the rush starts.No toiletries in the room other than shampoo and conditioner in tubes stick to the wall like budget hotels.Communication was poor as we missed out on the end of Ramadan feast because we weren’t told about it.You can eat in 2 à la carte restaurants (one on site and one off) but they don’t volunteer that.I was told that 3 days notice was required to book an à la carte and when I did so was told it was fully booked. I happened to pass the restaurant on the evening we wanted to eat there and there were only 3 couples dining and we never got to eat there as it was our last night which was disappointing but the management didn’t care.We had a contestant fight with the cleaner who kept removing things from our room such as soft pillows we’d requested, pool towels without refreshing them and food which was wrapped for bedtime snacks.Overall the food was very good save for two occasions when the desert was still frozen 2 hours into service.If you want to leave Makadi bay for a trip to Hurghada be prepared to wait an hour for a taxi as it takes forever to get through the security gate. Also be prepared to pay quadruple the price advertised by Uber.The hotel was spotless and the staff did go out of their way to resolve what they could but they still missed the mark in my eyes.
