Location

This resort is the perfect place for a fun and relaxing family holiday. It is located in the heart of Makadi Bay, a main region with the best diving and snorkelling areas. The resort is built on a serene landscape with a special architectural design surrounded by lush gardens, eight magnificent pools and an aqua park. Located 37 km (40 min) to Hurghada Centre and 32 km (33 min) to Hurghada International Airport, the resort features a distinctive location.

Facility

The resort was modernised in 2021. Guests have a choice of 698 rooms, including 153 suites and 258 double rooms, located in a 3-storey main building and a single-storey auxiliary building. The multilingual staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Guests who have booked all-inclusive will receive a welcome drink. Amenities include a baggage storage service and a cash machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas (no extra charge). The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The resort offers various facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. A number of shops, including a supermarket and souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. The grounds of the resort feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional facilities include a playroom. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park (no extra charge). Other services include a 24-hour security service, a babysitting service (on request and for a fee), a childcare service, medical assistance, a transfer service, 24-hour room service (for a fee), an alarm call service and a laundry service. A business centre with projector and a flip chart and pens is available.

Rooms

Rooms feature a living room and a bathroom. Air conditioning ensures comfortable temperatures. Guests can relax on the balcony or terrace. Rooms include a king-size bed. A desk and, for a fee, a minibar are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A telephone, a plug adapter and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Cleaning on departure is among the services offered. Guests will also find slippers in their rooms. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower, a bathtub and a bidet. A hairdryer, a vanity mirror and a telephone are available for daily use. For extra comfort in the bathrooms, guests are offered cosmetic products. Wheelchair-friendly rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms are also available. The resort has family rooms, non-smoking rooms and smoking rooms.

Sport

The pool complex, which includes 6 outdoor pools and 2 children's pools is a great place to work out or just relax and unwind. A waterslide guarantees plenty of fun for young and old, and the pool bar provides sustenance and refreshing drinks. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. The resort offers outdoor sports, including tennis, bocce, beach volleyball, basketball, crazy golf and archery. A number of sports are available, including water sports such as diving and water aerobics. For a fee, guests can also enjoy windsurfing, banana boat rides, sailing, kayaking and parasailing. The resort offers numerous indoor sports, including a gym, table tennis, darts, yoga and aerobics or, for a fee, billiards. Various wellness options, such as a spa, a sauna, a steam bath, a beauty salon and massage treatments, are offered for a fee. Additional leisure activities include a kids' club, a kids' disco, live music and a nightclub.

Meals

Dining facilities include a breakfast room, a café, a bar and a lobby bar. Delicious specialities await guests in 10 non-smoking, air-conditioned restaurants. Refreshing drinks at the beach bar are a perfect way to enjoy warm weather. All-inclusive can be booked. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available. Diet meals, gluten-free meals, children's meals, halal food, lactose-free food and vegan food can be prepared on request. Baby food (on request) provides for little ones' well being. The resort also offers snacks. The resort offers a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

    Sunrise: our Egyptian home in the sun!

    This was our third visit to this hotel. The last time we visited was 2018 and I can honestly say it was just as we remembered. The hotel grounds are beautiful and spotless. Yes, rooms need updating but they are roomy, clean and with plenty of storage. Food is great, especially at most of the a la carte restaurants. We thought the Mediterranean and Italian were our least favourite. The buffet food is great, although it can get a little noisy at times. The beach is just lovely, sandy with plenty of beds. You can walk into the sea and snorkle and see plenty of fish. We were always able to get a sunbed at any time of the day at any of the pools, which is a refreshing change. We also used the dive centre Magic fun divers, and the staff have been there since we went previously back in 2018 when our daughter learnt to dive with them. We would definitely recommend them. What makes this hotel though are the staff. From the bar and waiting staff who work so hard and remember your drinks each day to the fabulous animation team. I must say a big hello to Omran who has worked in the hotel since we first went many years ago. He is Manager of the Bedoun restaurant and he will always have a special place in our hearts. We had so much fun with the animation team, from joining in all the fun activities to just being able to chat with them and maybe have a game of uno with them in the evening 😀. They became very much part of our family during our stay there. A massive shout out to Katie especially who we did adopt into our Harris holiday family. Also a shout out to Fadi, Crush, Micheal, Nader, Keita and Gazza. All of them work so hard and are always smiling 😃. Thank you Sunrise for another wonderful holiday!     Stayed for 2 weeks. What an amazing experience. The animation team are wonderful. Special mentions to ellie,Katie,Andy. Hamdy. Crush.fadi makadi. Always pleasant friendly and offering help and advice on the hotels activities. The food is delicious 😋. Something for everyone. The onside restaurants are definitely something to try and book into. The beach is beautiful with something happening day and night. The rooms were clean and spacious Never struggled for a sunbed weather it be by the pool or the beach.     This resort is very big and offers lots. It’s let down by the fact it’s old and rooms are outdated. Beds were comfy and air conditioning effective just a bit noisy. You wouldn’t want to sit on your balcony on the rickety wooden furniture for long though. The shower was surprisingly good though despite the many many layers of mastic around the edges. Rooms were very clean.Repairs around the resort seem to be haphazard and not of a great standard of workmanship. Concrete paths are disintegrating around the accommodation blocks and being repaired but again not to a great standard and do not look great. The buffet food is adequate (very repetitive though at lunch) and the drinks all local brands. I chose this hotel due to the à la carte restaurants and we ate in all of them. Food again was a bit hit and miss and not always as expected. You can book 2 days before using the screens in reception. Sittings are at 7pm or 8.30pm. 4 out of 5 of us have experienced dodgy bellies…..There are various swimming pools to enjoy. The main pool had wind shelters which were needed and were also a great idea for privacy too. The noise of the metal beds scrapping along the floor when moved got quite annoying. You are not allowed to jump into the swimming pool and it was very cold at end of May.There are lots of sun beds on the private beach too, were you can also snorkel.Staff are mainly friendly and helpful. Main pool bar staff were great at offering and bringing drinks to your sun lounger all day long. The entertainment/animation staff were fun and good at letting you know what’s on at the resort and coaxing you to join in. During the day there were lots of sports and activities for all ages.Evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss. Beach party and fire show was good as was the sunrise festival.This was our first visit to Egypt and only came about as our holiday to Dubai was cancelled. TUI class this as a 4 star plus resort. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but would look for more luxury if we returned to the area, but this is obviously personal preference.
