    Lovely family holiday

    rating13 Jun 2019

The resort is so big, but to be honest apart from main food times you don’t ever feel crowded or overlooked, the resort staff are so friendly and very accommodating, our room was clean and was serviced daily by a lovely housekeeper who went out of his way to make towel animals for our 6 year old daughter. The pools are plentiful all 8 of them and are varied from an Olympic size to a small way pool to a full size water park, therefore children are in their element! There are a small selection of shops in resort which allows you to haggle but the shop keeper are lovely and not pushy. The Tui rep was very poor and just interested in booking trips on our welcome meeting, however daily the in resort trip agents do come round the pools to encourage you to book trips, photos and experiences but again not to the extent you feel pressured. Evening entertainment isn’t plentiful and very difficult to ascertain where and when but after busy days with the children it wasn’t a problem! Overall a great holiday, fabulous resort and very friendly staff

    First holiday in Egypt

    rating22 Jul 2016

I won a holiday with Thomas Cook Tv in 2009 to the Amaraya Club at the time a very nice quite hotel but with a lot of Italians.I would go there again. The red sea is within easy reach for snorkeling and diving and you can use the sister hotels of The Karamena and the Calamera Habiba. My wife loved the snorkeling and seeing all the great fish. The food was acceptable and plenty of choice. The staff were helpfull with the usual bed art made out of towels.Only downside for me is that to get to Marsa Alam you have to fly from Gatwick as we live in the North so would be easier to fly from Manchester.

A great Hotel with terrible food

    rating26 Sept 2009

This is one of the best hotels in terms of space, cleanliness, friendly staff and facilities. This is my second visit to this hotel and despite our complaint 2 years ago about how bad the food is, it was worse this year. Also the staff is very friendly, but they need to be more educated about the services, facilities and add some language. The diving center is great, Marsa Alam is one of the best places to dive in and enjoy a great weather.I highly recommend it for couples and large groups.

    Hidden treasure, Brayker bay

    rating28 Aug 2009

We stayed at the Brayker Bay hotel, Marsa alam and what a treasure. The food was excellent and the weather matched. The rooms were more than comfortable. The snorkelling from the beach was second to none.In one week we saw turtles and manta rays, huge puffa fish and a whole lot more.We are definatley going back.Ali in the beach bar was just great and loved to chat about life in general and pass the time of day. Please do not tell every one about this hotel so as it remains the way it is for our return.Had a massage whilst there and i must say thats the first and last time i am wearing a pink paper thong! Then it got wet!!!!No entertainment at night but thats what you want when you with your missus and left the kids behind in england, make your own enterteinment. :- )

    Useful Information

    rating26 Apr 2006

Staff confuse 'bank' with ATM. We almost had a taxi take us to a bank for cash, until we established that there is an ATM at Kahramana reception.Nobody told us until the last day that there is a free, regular shuttle bus from reception to Abu Dababa beach, 15 mins away, which was by far the best beach for miles around. Superb snorkeling direct from the beach. We went b and b, were offered half board by the travel agent for an extra £100 pppw. It works out cheaper to just have b and b, and then you can choose where to eat in the evenings, although the choice is quite limited (italian, lebanese, fish or the hotel buffet, which was actually the best.)The staff were very friendly, and it is a shame to see what the terrorists are doing to the tourist industry out there. Make the effort to learn a few words of Arabic; please, hello, thankyou etc and you will get a very positive response.Good standard of tennis staff, who will hit with you for a total cost of £3.50ph, including racket hire. Football match every evening (5ish) on the beautifully soft grass pitch. The diving centre staff were great, and I recommend the 'discover scuba diving' one day course. We also went on a trip to the 'Dolphin House' where there is apparently an 80% chance of swimming with dolphins. I think that is sales talk of the worst kind. It was a shame, as it is a very good trip out into the middle of the Red Sea, which I would have happily gone on for 60 euros. I came away disappointed from that as I expected to see dolphins. It is worth having those shoes that you can go into the sea with, as some of the beach can be either very hot, or quite rough on your feet.I had never snorkeled until I got there, (I am 40). Make sure you do it, it is fantastic and very easy, and the water does not go down the tube very often, and even when it does you know its coming so you don't swallow it. We bought cheap snorkel and mask (£10) before we went. A false economy as it misted up very quicky and the far superior hire ones were very cheap to hire. Security at Marsa Alam is good. It is not a town as such, so there is nowhere for any bomber to target groups of people. All the different complexes have security at the entrances, so any bombers would have to come up with a very detailed plan. So far, all the bombs in Egypt have been in public places. It is very unlikely that you will be in a public place if you go there - it is all resort. We had a great time, and would certainly go again.
