    Disaster Waiting to Happen

    rating02 Mar 2026

I’m writing this review because it’s become clear that the staff has essentially given up on addressing guest concerns. When I brought issues to their attention, I was told, “We hear it all the time,” which tells you everything you need to know.Beware — this hotel is literally falling apart. From the moment I walked in, red flags were everywhere. The elevator was covered in so much yellow warning tape it looked like a crime scene. My room didn’t have a working phone — usually not a big deal, but inconvenient when I had to call the front desk from my cell for basic needs. The lighting situation was even worse: the only functional lights were the two bedside lamps and whatever came through the window. At night, the room was extremely dim.As a business traveler, the desk setup was particularly frustrating. Only one outlet worked, and there wasn’t even a lamp on the desk. These may seem like small things, but they add up quickly when you’re trying to get work done. The fitness room is another safety concern entirely — broken equipment, poor sanitation, and overall neglect. The restaurant, though staffed by nice people, is old, worn, and feels like it’s been left to deteriorate just like the rest of the property. At this point, it feels like ownership is trying to squeeze the last bit of revenue out of this hotel before the health department steps in or the reputation becomes so bad they’re forced to renovate. With the number of far better options in the Harrisonburg area, I will never stay here again. I strongly suggest that anyone considering this “good deal” look elsewhere. This was a disappointing and frankly concerning experience from start to finish. Tiffani H, at DoubleTree by Hilton Harrisonburg, responded to this review Thank you so much for your review. We are equally as concerned about the poor experience you had and will be taking every action to fix these issues. We welcome every opportunity to grow and better ourselves, so we appreciate all feedback. Please reach out to the hotel directly so that we may try to make things right with you. Thank you again.

    Not as advertised.

    rating10 Jan 2026

We chose this hotel because it had a restaurant/bar on site. This was important to us. When we made the reservations, the associate was asked twice about the restaurant availability. He assured us that the restaurant was open and would be open when we arrived. Upon checking in the clerk (Erin) told us the restaurant was closed and had been closed for a while. We told Erin why we picked the hotel and she suggested we could go somewhere else. That wasn't an option and we checked in. Taking a shower determined that the body wash container was empty. Later the TV would not download the programming guide. Was told nothing could be done because no one else complained. Lastly, no toilet paper replacement roll. Last time we will stay at this place or any Double Tree. Well below the standards of a Hilton.

Skip This One While in Harrisonburg

    rating08 Jan 2026

I’ve been here more than a handful of times over the past year. I’ve overlooked a roach in the bathroom, doors that don’t close without being body-slammed, mold, and a truly terrible restaurant. Nothing ever gets better. I love DoubleTree and stay in them constantly for work throughout the East, but I will not be back to this one for quite some time, despite how convenient it is for my travels. Even the cookies are burnt. There is dust everywhere and I can see outside next to the AC unit. It’s a shame - just off the highway and surrounded by all your shopping needs.

    Dirty, damaged, and unsafe

    rating03 Jan 2026

I stayed here in October 2025. It is nothing like the photos. Everything is highly worn, the carpets are dirty, the paint and walls are beat-up.The shower was disgustingly filthy. (see attached photo) Lamps were broken. The elevator did not seem reliable or safe, and its inspection certificate had expired 3 months prior, making it unlawful to operate. (see attached photo)My room heat was not working, it was below 60degF in the room and the fan could not be turned off so it was only blowing cold air. I reported it to the front desk who said maintenance would be up right away and that there was nothing else they could do, but it was more than 24 hours before maintenance showed up and determined that it was unfixable.Hilton needs to revoke the franchise of this hotel.

    Poorly managed hotel

    rating14 Dec 2025

Checked into the room. The room was missing an alarm clock, desk lamp and laundry bag. The phone isn’t working either. Called the front desk and brought the issue to the customer service person named Juliett and she says there’s nothing they can do about it. Asked for the laundry bag and she said they don’t have any laundry bag to give out?!! Asked to speak to the manager and she said there is no manager. I was appalled at the response from the hotel. Been to a various Hilton locations in East coast and west but this is the first time I came across such poorly managed Hilton.
