309 non-smoking rooms are located on 12 storeys and can be reached by lift. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions.     We stayed at Sokos Flamingo on December 7, 2024. The whole experience was a disaster. My wife, two kids and I were coming from a very long train trip +12 hours and were very tired, we just wanted to arrive at the hotel and take a shower and go to bed. We were given a room that didn't have hot water and plus the water from the bathroom sink was leaking/gushing on our feet when we opened the tap. We complained and the front desk gave us another room. The room was very similar but also didn't have hot water. We complained once more and the hotel could only offer us two separate rooms in the newer section of the hotel. We didn't want to have to separate our family - but that was the only option available. At that point the manager also agreed to give us a 25% discount. Only problem is that later we were surprised to find out that these rooms didn't have heat and we were freezing during the whole night. The temperature was around 18°C while the thermostat marked 23.5°C. I complained in the reception but by then the manager had left and the front desk didn't know how to increase the temperature. They suggested that the room panel would have a switch to turn the heater off and on (to reset the furnace) but that wasn't true. The temperature was controlled centrally but they had no idea how to make it work. We were exhausted and we weren't given any options to rectify the situation. My wife and kids were feeling sick the next morning. I had spent hours trying to get a room with basic hot water and heating. I asked for a full refund but the front desk agreed I was on my right to ask but said that it would be managed by the hotel manager. I contacted Expedia, but the hotel denied the request.

    Great hotel for a short stay

    That was our second time staying in this hotel with children. The check in was smooth and quick. I was given the option to choose the floor, and I asked for the highest floor possible. I was given a room on the 10th floor. The room has a huge window with the view to the adjoining shopping centre and surrounding area up to 10-15 km. One can just sit and observe airplanes arriving and departing - airport is about 5 km away. Beds were comfortable, even the extra bed that's situated on the wall that you pull open (resembles the beds in the ferry cabins). Higher floors have only showers in the rooms (if you're willing to swap a bath tub for nice views). Only downside is that you have to choose your breakfast slot when checking in - I like to be spontaneous when on a holiday. However, it's not that big of a deal, I just chose to latest slot. Breakfast itself was plentiful. If you like exercise like me, it's worth trying out taking stairs instead of lift. Each step is numbered, and inspirational writings on each floor will push you keep on going (although they were written in Finnish only)! There's lots to do with kids as in the same building there is a waterpark with spa, cinema, playing place for kids, and shopping amongst others. I would definitely visit this hotel again when in the area.     Average hotel quite near Helsinki airport by the big shopping centre. Check in was very busy and took some time. Rooms are OK and large but little outdated. Breakfast was also OK. Safe indoor parking. Staff was friendly. It was fine for one night stay because of early flight.     I stayed with Sokos Flamingo Vantaa for one night 16 to 17 Apr. In general it's nice. Breakfast was delicious, the room was good and there is a shopping mall there for those who need it. The huge problem is: I was charged twice!!! i'm trying continuously to clarify it and to find a solution but there is absolutely no feedback from the hotel side! at the checking something went wrong or to be precise the response time of a payment terminal was too long. so a manager considered that as an error. The next morning I was asked to pay again. I did that. The problem is I still have both payments withdrawn from my bank account. I sent a number of emails and reminders. I called them. not a piece of any feedback from the hotel. unbelievably bad.     Bed was old and with back problems I wasn't able to sleep in it. I got new room and there was a broken bath. It was too late to change room again. 1 room with problems is ok, but not 2. Breakfast was great but 3 times when I was in line someone took my table and I needed to ask them to leave. There should be some reserved sign for a solo users.
