    I looked for hotels in Rovaniemi on TripAdvisor, but prefer to book with the hotel directly so went to Scandic’s website not realizing there was more than one Scandic brand hotel in Rovaniemi - and I booked the wrong one. I wanted Scandic Rovaniemi City and booked Scandic Pohjanhovi by mistake. I was told even being the same company they could not move my reservation. Scandic Pohjanhovi was fine. I knew I was only there one night but what you read in other reviews is all true. Part of the hotel was recently renovated, but not the part I was in. To make matters worse or just even more annoying - while I am checking in the customers next to me were excitedly told by reception, “and you are in a renovated room!!!” while I was sent to an old room. Perhaps don’t announce that around others who don’t have the same luxury and are being sent to the dumpy side of the building! The room was fine. Super small and the bathroom was not ideal- there was no actual shower or tub just a shower head on the wall to make a mess over the whole floor when you tried to use it. Breakfast was fine minus kids running and coughing all over the buffet. The staff working the breakfast room were lovely. I would not stay at this hotel again and would make sure next time to pay closer attention to the Scandic website that there were multiple locations in Rovaniemi.n

    This is a very scenic accommodation located by the river . The rooms are adequate . However only one key is provided at reception and if this key is used to start the electrical connection in the room there is a possibility of being locked out when lifting heavy baggage into the room with heavy self closing doors . The breakfast is excellent with scenic view seating arrangements. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is no room service and housekeeping can be negligent with clearing any tea or coffee used sachets and used cups.

    After reading the negative reviews we were worried about our stay but we loved the hotel. The location is perfect, short walk to restaurant, shops, bars, the centre. Our room was over looking the river which was an extra bonus for us. It was stunning during the day and night. The room is modern and well equipped. It was cleaned every day we had clean towels everyday. Very satisfied. The beds are very comfortable. My husband doesn't like sleeping in different hotels but he said he felt it to be so clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the gym and the pool. The pool water is refreshing so it is great for swimming. Staff were all very nice and helpful. Breakfast was amazing. We were super happy with our 4 nights stay and would definitely recommend the hotel.

    This hotel is relatively poorly rated but would recommend for anyone visiting Santa’s Village. Rooms are great family rooms. Hotel has two buildings connected by underground tunnel. Room was modern Scandi style, great bunk beds for kids. Plenty of space. Bathroom ok, plenty of drying space. Main negative is slow room servicing (had to ask every afternoon despite being out all day), and poor dinner at restaurant.

    Location is great but rooms a let down!Stayed in the so cold Presidential suite. No luxury but a very tired room with many broken things. Missing curtains. There is a good sofa bed yet they add a tiny uncomfortable single bed in the living room…One door to balcony was locked and unusable.A fireplace without the possibility of an actual fire. A dinning room without any cutlery or crockery.But on a different matter, coming back on night my elderly mother slipped as the floor was slippery. Cracked her head on the floor and was in a lot of pain. Reception staff just looked on while having a conversation with someone at the bar. I asked him for some ice and with no rush or concern he carried on his conversation while slowly putting some ice in a napkin. Came to give it to us and just said: “let me know if you want to call help”. That was it!!!!!Not impressed by the lack of care to the room but the lack of care for customers is even more concerning.
