Boutique Hotel Cézanne is a small, well‑located property in Aix‑en‑Provence near to the train station excellent for walking to the old town. Check‑in was smooth and the front desk staff were welcoming and helpful with local directions. The front desk team give us very good tips about Aix-en-Provence. I am sorry I dont know their name. The room was clean, tastefully decorated, and comfortable for a short stay. Space is used efficiently. Breakfast offered a good selection of hot and cold items. Cheese and fresh croissants and bakery was a winner. The calissons tea was something new for us. We had the calissons tea in the room only for one day. We would have appreciated an extra bag of calissons tea in the room. A good choice for travelers who want a central, comfortable boutique stay with friendly service while exploring Aix‑en‑Provence. Hope to see you in the near future to get the chance so say ”Bonjour” again.

Disappointing

Deluxe room was tiny, carpet smelled of urine, bathroom door did not latch, no AC or fan. More like a hostel than a hotel. Overrun with Americans. I AM AMERICAN, and everyone seemed disgruntled. We checked out after one night. Would not recommend.

Great hotel well situated and within walking distance to everything. The staff were friendly, helpful and very welcoming - especially the front desk team. Breakfast had a good variety of items and was well presented. I would stay again - the only draw back was the room temperature was warm since it was October and the a/c was off for the season.

Tragic

Despite Hôtel Cezanne's central location, we found the accommodations disappointing to the point of awfulness. The only asset came from a very kind and gracious server that brought us beverages and snacks while we waited for housekeeping to prepare the room. In fact, we risked forfeiting our prepaid fare for two more nights and checked out after only one sleepless night. The room lacked functioning air conditioning and/or tolerable air circulation. Because the room overlooks a very busy, noisy street with abundant vehicles and pedestrians of the partying college variety, we needed to keep the windows closed to have any semblance of silence for an attempt at sleeping. The room itself is in disrepair - aside from the numerous cosmetic and brutish scars, the bathroom door refused to latch without slamming it shut, the paint in the bathroom is peeling or substantially mildewed (without a latex glove I chose to no inspect too closely), the tile is in various states of disintegration, the bathroom floor needed a good swabbing, and the carpet near the bathroom gave off clear aromas of urine. Also, we saw a live mouse scurry across the floor of the breakfast room while we waited for our room to become ready for occupancy. It falls well below our expectations for service, cleanliness, and hospitableness. In our most generous view it most closely resembles a youth hostel but we are not students. In our most hostile view it might best suit a heroin addict flop house. Bad on us for failing to do more than cursory research and trusting the property's description of itself. While it calls itself "boutique," in its current state, the Hotel Cezanne would never have found its way into a painting by its namesake unless he intended to create a tragic landscape.

Really disappointing

I'm really annoyed that after paying 330 Euro for one night for the hotel's basic, 17sqm smallest double room, I can't even choose what temperature my room is. I'd probably suffer it if the room cost 100 Euro but for 330 I'd expect to be able to choose. No air con allowed at this time of year apparently, only the heating! The room is very hot, I've opened the window to cool it down but it's still too warm. But there's nothing that can be done about the awful bathroom. Not only does it feel like a sauna, it has no air or ventilation in it. The door is also paper thin and every time the the person I'm traveling with goes to the toilet I can hear every detail of it. I wouldn't normally choose a room this small but it was the only room size they had available. I'd definitely recommend choosing a bigger room if you ever stay here. And I would definitely not pay 330 Euro for this room. It's a disgrace they've charged this much for it. Just because it seems to be a busy night to stay in Aix they've inflated the price to an unacceptable level. Now I don't mind spending money at all, I'd just expect more for the price (and the 330 is room only....)
