It doesn't get any worse

The hotel is by far the worst hotel in the Mercure Hotel chain Room and food both at breakfast and dinner is really very bad.Very unlovingly served and no choices....the scrambled eggs already look so bad that you definitely don't want to eat it.My room is facing the side street without balcony and the old window cannot be tilted to open. Since the garbage can see down the road come flies and unpleasant smells to it...In the room the air conditioning is broken and the hotel does not feel able to fix it....In response, I got that our tour group did not book directly with the hotel....TV was also broken and it was restarted on the second day in the evening. The furniture is totally thrown together from several facilities, especially striking in the large dining room. Which brings us to the next criticism, it's mega loud there...I certainly can't get there anymore and wouldn't recommend it to any other guest.

SMALL SETTINGS OF NOTHING AT ALL

This hotel is ideally located for sightseeing. The staff is charming, there are still a few small adjustments to be made for the music score to be perfect.

Modern conveniences and excellent staff.

We booked 2 nights at the Hotel Le Relais de Poste, and left after the first terrible night. See our 1 star review. We decided to stay at Mercure, about a 2 minute walk from the other hotel, because we would be carrying our luggage. The experience was night and day. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was clean and well equipped. They had on site parking, a rarity in Arles. And the breakfast buffet was excellent. Unless you require old world charm, and all the unpredictable inconveniences and lack of service that may come with that, as we experienced at the other hotel, this is a great place to stay while in Arles. All the major tourist sites are within a few minutes walk from the hotel. I would not hesitate to stay here again if coming to Arles.

The room was a little on the small side, but we’d happily return

We were fortunate to arrive at this hotel in mid-October 2025, not long after it had (as far as I understand) been renovated. It was an easy 20-minute or so stroll from the train/bus station. In fact, because our train arrived not long after mid-day, we stopped for lunch in one of the restaurants in the town centre, which nicely divided our stroll into two halves. The hotel was clean, newly-carpeted, and freshly-painted; and the reception staff were friendly and welcoming. Our newly-renovated, twin-bedded, room was clean, tidy and comfortable. The shower was good. I particularly liked the wall-safe – the buttons lit up when pressed, which made it much easier for me to read! The only downside was a lack of space to store our clothes for our 4-night stay, but we finally managed to utilise a single shelf above the safe. So, in that respect, the room was a little on the small side. For example, a foldable rest for a suitcase was provided – but, there was insufficient space in the room to use it when it was unfolded! So I’m guessing that the room had not actually been user-tested as thoroughly as it should have been. The rooftop terrace was nicely done, and I can see that the rooftop pool might be inviting in the summer. We didn’t have any breakfasts, so can’t comment on that aspect of the hotel. We would be happy to return.
