Great location, basic hotel, clean and ideal for a short stay. We were very pleased with our accommodation, the staff were very helpful and pleasant. I would strongly recommend it if you are opting for a budget hotel.

    Peaceful, simple and convenient

Simple and basic, but that's what we wanted. Very friendly and able to accommodate our unexpectedly late arrival (thanks Easyjet) with no problem. DIY buffet breakfast and then you're a 4 minute (few hundred yards) walk from the beach. Rooms are simple and the ensuite bathrooms are large and well equipped so this is a perfect hotel for a short stopover or a one week stay. Cap Breton itself is a lovely town, which seems to be spread over three main areas - residential, commercial and 'north of the river'. Well worth a week's stay and the Porto Rico is well worth choosing as the place to stay there.

Mr Martinez before me said it all ;) It really is a surprisingly good little hotel. Friendly staff, clean rooms&amenities, wi fi works, good breakfast if you decide for it. Highly reccomended! Oh, and its 300m from the first break and about four more in walking distance.

Price, location, clean, excellent shower, good bed and linens, small balcony, one block from ocean

    rating21 Jul 2015

Stayed here for two night in June 2015. I was in a room by myself and had two friends who stayed one night in another room. This is a relatively small hotel with a small staff. It is strategically situated block from the ocean on one side and one block from the side river and port on the other side; no view. There is parking for guests; no lift. The manager was kind to carry my heavy suitcases to a room on the second floor. Check-in was smooth and uneventful. The configuration of the hotel is unusual but practical. There is a wide spiral staircase in the center of a square floor with rooms alone the sides sides of the square; with no hallways. The rom is clean and just what one needs at a beach hotel. There is a small balcony overlooking the street. Although there is no air conditioning evening are cool enough to allow for a comfortable slumber. The floors are tiled which is appropriate for any beach hotel. The bed was excellent as we're the linens and towels. The bathroom was large and basic. The best part was the open rain shower. The sink was new and large with plenty of room to place one's own we toiletries. There is a piece of furniture consisting of open shelving where one can assembles one's clothing, convenient hooks along the wall by the door to I hand a coat or outer swimwear, for example. There were two small night tables and one sitting chair.I stayed here not because of the beach (as I live in Miami on the beach) but was in town to attend a friend's 50th birthday party at the home of one of his French friends. I stayed here two nights. Although breakfast is available for an extra charge of 12 euros, there are plenty of nearby cafés and stores. I never eat 12 euros worth of food.

    Best location in Capbreton

    rating18 Aug 2014

The receptionist is super nice and she was very helpful. The hotel is located 50m away from the beach, the room were clean and big enough, though we spent 3 nights there and had to change of room for the 3rd night, and the room was smaller then. But if you are planning to spend most of your time outside of it, that's not a problem at all. First room had a 160cm big bed, second had only 140cm big bed. Bathrooms are new, they told us they changed them 2/3 years ago. You can rent bikes there for 10€/24h. Careful though, if the bike get stolen, they take out 100€ from your banking account. But never happened to anyone apparently. If you lock the bike that's okay. We didn't have breakfast there because we found it a bit expensive, there are supermarkets and bakery close by so no problem to find food in the morning if you want to go picnic on the beach which is really worth it. In the end I would say it is a very good value for money and the location is the best you can find in the city.
