    This small 35 room hotel is an easy 10-15 minute walk from the train station and just a few minutes walk to the shopping area and beautiful beach. We reserved the Double Room Superior with a king size bed which also included a single size bed in an alcove. The room was clean, very roomy and comfortable for our 3 night stay. It had a hardwood floor, plenty of closet space, a large bathroom with a walk-in shower and bottled water and coffee. The Breakfast buffet somewhat expensive at $20 per person, included a wide range of items: eggs, cereals, yogurt, juice, fruit, breads and pastries. There is a bakery just across the street. The swimming pool / spa area is quiet and relaxing. The hotel staff were very nice and friendly. We loved St Jean de Luz: hanging out at the beach; the coastal hike overlooking the sea and city; the botanical gardens. We also very much enjoyed the cute little Basque restaurant, Toki Goxoa, located at the beach along the promenade.

    Nice hotel in great location. Staff very friendly and helpful and bar vey relaxing. Room was small but well equipped with a fantastic shower. No lift available at the moment so check if you have mobility issues. Car parking is nearby. Would definitely return.

    A very comfortable hotel, lovely decoration throughout. Great helpful staff . Fabulous room with quality fittings and very nice linen and bedding. Comfortable bed also nice extras , slippers and bath robes. Very good value, would not hesitate to recommend.

    Really Pleasant Small Hotel

    I highly recommend Hotel Madison. When we visited Saint-Jean de Luz a few years ago, we stayed at Hélianthal Thalazur, but we enjoyed Hotel Madison more. The small size and friendly staff made for a more personal and welcoming experience. We upgraded one room size, and found the room and bed to be large and comfortable.Hélianthal Thalazur has a large spa area with various pools, but there were a lot of people there, and figuring out the rules and processes was impersonal and a little unpleasant. Hotel Madison has a small but lovely hot tub, pool, sauna and workout area, limited to 10 people at a time. They also have a massage room and can schedule various spa services. I didn't want any of that, but if I did, I'd see if Hotel Madison could schedule what I wanted before I went to Hélianthal for the spa program.We enjoyed breakfast and coffee in the Hotel Madison bar, and a cheese and charcuterie plate with a glass of wine in the evening.     We had three nights in one of their large rooms on the top floor with a nice view over rooftops to the bay. The hotel is in a good location for St Jean de Luz.The car parking as others have reported is very tight. I was glad I wasn’t parking the car.The room was spacious but for price we paid was slightly disappointing. For example when I used the lovely free standing bath I had to rinse dust out before I could run the bath. There was dust to the side of the bed. Water is only provided on night one.Breakfast was fine. When we tried to use the spa (we had not been given any information about this) we found the sauna wasn’t working. The pool was on the cool side so we didn’t get to use these facilities.The lift broke twice during our stay including on the morning of our departure. So we had to carry all luggage from the top floor. I’m contrasting this hotel with the other two four star hotels we stayed in for a similar price during this stay in France. Elsewhere we received warm welcomes. For example we were taken to their spa and shown how to use the facilities and we were asked if they could help with restaurants and local places of interest. The service here amounted to giving us our room key, the car park pass and asking if we wanted breakfast. That’s ok however at our other hotels the service it was excellent and I was disappointed with the reception and welcome here.The receptionist on duty as we left did provide us with take away coffees which was a lovely unexpected touch and was welcome.
