Not worth the experience, dirty and not so pleasant staff

    rating10 May 2025

Very dirty, the bed cover and the cushions covered in spots and dirt, pull out table had crumbs and muck, the plates and mugs had to be washed before use, the stainless steel sink was dark brown…obviously never been scrubbed. Asked for extra pillows , you would have thought I had asked for the moon. The reply was : ok for tomorrow the housekeeper is gone for today!!! After complaining, some pillows arrived 2 hours later. Not very pretty neighborhood, tram and bus further than expected…

AVOID. GAS LEAKS AND HORRIBLE DIRECTOR

    rating16 Sept 2024

AVOID!!DO NOT STAY HERE.GAS LEAK RIDDEN HOTEL. Best thing about it is getting on your flight home. Be prepared to be watched every second by the pool if you are lucky to get 1 of 10 loungers and dehydrate because your not allowed water or drinks but there bar and restaurant is permanently closed. Not worth it even for a cheap stay. Frank director is shocking to customers and should not be running a hotel, staff have no clue on fire safety/first aid or gas emergency’s etc. shocking!!Do not stay here…Where to start…If you want to walk into your room smelling like strong cabbage/sewers for the duration of your stay. Which is a potential gas leak. Alerted the staff, they did not care and did nothing about it. Ended up checking out when we were told this. The smell was worse when AC was on, gas companies put this smell in so you can tell if there is a gas leak. The restaurant/ bar was closed for the full week… but you weren’t allowed drinks or food in the pool area! A security guard does laps round the outside of the gated area of the pool… in and out of the bushes. So if you are ok with feeling stared at then go ahead. The rules are endless at the pool area. You can’t even wear shoes or keep them next to your lounger, instead you have to leave them outside the gate next to where all the dog walkers walk and burn your feet trying to get to the lounger… the shoes will sit in the sun all day so you enjoy a double burn by the time you get them back on. The shower at the pool stopped working so they left a garden hose. Treating us like cattle, having to spray yourself down before getting in the pool😂 you can’t eat or drink by the pool on your lounger and there’s 14 loungers so you may aswell give up at the thought of getting one. Family’s are sharing 1 lounger. You have to hang your bags up over the gate by the pool, doesn’t feel secure for if anyone grabs over and reaches stuff from it.No safes in the rooms.Breakfast is horrendous for €14 .. a dry extremely basic continental with the option of small pink looking sausages and watery scrambled egg. No other hot food. Check in is strictly from 4, they aren’t going to go above and beyond for any customers even if the room was ready you will need to wait till 4.The shower, you may aswell give up, there is no pressure and the water that does come out goes everywhere but onto you, it’s dreadful. Toilet roll, your given 3 small thin bits of toilet roll so be prepared having to hunt down the cleaners to restock but you will only be given them if u are “on the list”. No room cleaned during your stay which it does state but fresh towels would have been nice atleast half way through the stay and having to hunt to empty your bin every day outside. The floor is black so be prepared to have to wash your feet before bed time and all the utensils and crockery covered in food etc from previous guests. We sanitised and washed down all the dishes prior to use because it was revolting. The 2nd bed (the couch) comes with a thin sheet and a blanket instead of a duvet..bizzare because u are paying. No safe and no iron. If you want to get cramp in your hand, please use the hairdryer, you have to press it to keep it going. The balcony’s are facing onto eachother so your neighbour can see fully into your apartment..be prepared to have awkward hi’s and hellos. You get 1 keycard per room so hold onto it tight. Our cabbage/sewer smell, we complained every day, got told the technician would be out, they tried everything, we thought something had died in the air con so stopped turning that on. The technician said he put stuff in the vents and also emptied out the drains and put liquid down it. Did not help, just got worse. Breathing in god knows what and the hotel didn’t do anything, asked for a room change, they said they were full which was a lie, several family’s checked out so I stated can’t we have there rooms, they told us we will check with cleaner. Cleaner then said no I’m not cleaning your room today so we were not allowed to move room even though they had space. The only option was to request a refund in 2 days time which we are not hopefull we will get a penny… putting up with a horrendous smell for 4 days and breathing in bad stuff is never ideal at all. Other rooms complained about it too. You will have beggars outside the hotel/shop that is next door. Clearly many issues at this hotel.Only positive- the sunset because it’s going dark, hard to see the horrendous place. Enjoy sitting on your balcony (it’s an open drain pipe along the edge) disgustingPlease find attached the security guard creeping about bushes and the hose to wash yourself. Be prepared to stand in big ques at desk cause only 1 member of staff on and always people complaining. Another thing you have to be on “the list” to get toilet roll provided… hahahaha what list!!!

    Family holiday

    rating22 Jul 2024

Family holiday for 7 nights (kids 5 & 7) in a one bed apartment. Apartment was great - nice little kitchenette with big fridge and full size hob to cook on. Microwave. Plenty utensils and crockery / cutlery. Sofa bed a bit squeaky but okay for kids sharing as it’s a decent size. Plenty hanging room and hangers.Large bathroom with bath and shower together. The apartment was well appointed and clean. A/C very effective if a little noisy as we kept the room doors ajar for the children. Large balcony (we got car park facing which was disappointing at first but then we ended up loving the coming and going and people watching). Sun in the morning but no way to create shade. No sun in the evening. Well stocked small supermarket right outside. Lovely pool - I will say this was the only downside to the holiday. By midday there is no shade and there are no umbrellas. Most afternoons / early evenings they had a security guard on duty at the pool. The issue was he was more like a bouncer to a night club. And he would literally stand / sit in the bushes eyeballing the pool. They have quite a few pool and pool side rules (shoes off, no eating, no jumping in, no inflatables etc), which is fine but he was a little stringent and not very friendly. The second block of the complex appeared to have residential apartments and I wonder if there had been conflict between permanent residents and hotel guests, hence the ‘security guard’!?! I think a life guard who keeps the rules but also can be warm towards guests would have made us feel more like we were on holiday. Easy to get to town centre 10-15 min walk to tram stop Cracovie. Tough going on a hot summer day. If you visit with kids, take one tram stop to Bruge du Lac where there are lots on restaurants and entertainment for children.La Ferme restaurant nearby was good for dinner. We did eat in the hotel one night and it was also good. Boulangerie David was also great and a 5 Mon walk.We also visited Saint Emillion and Dune de Pilat. We can recommend Aqualand at Biscarossie. On certain days they do an age 4-10 family session.

Problems with the number of beds, and the bad quality of the walls (it's possible to hear everything)

    rating13 Jul 2024

The walls are paper thin, it is possible to hear everything. They said that there were enough beds for us, and they were wrong. Due to those conditions and the lack of resources, i can confirm that the management of the place is bad. Those are the reasons for 2 stars. Franck C, Directeur général at Appart Hotel Mer & Golf City Bordeaux, responded to this review I am sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. It is important to report these problems upon arrival to reception so that they can take corrective action. For information, our apartments are for a maximum of 4 people and our studios for a maximum of 2 people.this information appears clearly on all websites.Do not hesitate to express your concerns in a constructive manner to improve the quality of service. Thank you for sharing your opinion.wishing to welcome you again, I wish you a wonderful summer.

Good Value Apart-hotel with a pool.

    rating19 Aug 2023

We chose this Hotel mainly because 4 adults wanted to stay together and it has a pool, which seems rare enough in Bordeaux. It's a little outside the city but easily accessible by tram (€1.45 per person on the 10-journey ticket), Uber (€15), or just walking (about 2.5k to Bassins De Lumiere & 5k to Place de La Bourse). The city and outskirts are extremely cycle friendly with cycle lanes everywhere and its around a 10min cycle to the city centre. The hotel itself is a decent 3 star apartment-style hotel, and I would definitely stay here again even though it's let down by some small things. The positives are that its great value, the room was spacious with a nice balcony, the staff were nice, the pool seemed new and everywhere was very clean. There is a supermarket just at the entrance to the property which was very handy. We paid €10 extra for a lake view and its absolutely worth it, the other side looks out on a carpark, so pay the extra if they have availability. The lake view (and over the swimming pool) gave a completely different feel to the holiday than a car park view would have. The air-con was very good and the main bed was comfy. The sofa bed was very squeeky and there was something sharp cut off the end of the base which actually drew blood from three of us on our calves at different times as we walked by the bed. A simple fix with some tape (or grinding off) which should be carried out asap! (Room A304). There is a small kitchenette which was handy as well as a kettle and coffee maker and a fridge. There was also a dishwasher, but we didn't use it as it was mouldy inside. This seemed out of character with the cleanliness of the complex in general. A few times we had to go looking for more towels, toilet rolls and body wash for the shower. There was also a large brown water stain on the ceiling of the bedroom. There was no washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets, no draining board area and no tea towels. None of these things seem difficult to fix and shouldn't be letting down what is otherwise a good place to stay. Overall if a good value break with a pool in Bordeaux is what you need it's a good option.
