    Didn’t quite make the grade

    rating20 Jul 2019

We stayed here as a stop over on our drive South. Our room and bathroom had everything we needed and was spacious enough, but was very dated. The rooms are accessed up a steep, bending staircase, which we found difficult with luggage. On the plus side, the beds were comfy and the staff really welcoming and helpful. We ate here in the evening in the lovely garden at the back of the hotel and we would recommend the food. Overall decent value for money, but far from luxurious! Nathalie C, Propriétaire at Logis Hotel Au Croissant, responded to this review Thank you for your opinion about your stay here. We agree that the rooms are dated, that's why we have started to renovate a few of them. Happy that you spent a good moment in our garden. We hope we'll see you again, perhaps in a renovated room.

Nice people, good restaurant, but very basic rooms and strange breakfast procedure

    rating11 Nov 2015

I organized a family gathering in nearby Villedieu sur Indre, resulting in the booking of seven rooms at the Logis Au Croissant. Some of us spent one night, and the other ones two nights. As the organizer, I had an opportunity to visit all rooms reserved (numbers 1, 2, 4, 7, 9, 10, 15), and to get feedback from all guests.First, I want to stress that Au Croissant's owners and staff are very kind, and did their best to accommodate our needs and help us prepare our meeting (booking rooms, choosing menus for a family dinner within the property, and so on). We are very grateful to them.We had a dinner at the restaurant, which was very good, above our expectations indeed, and finally one of the most pleasant part of our trip. In our opinion, the restaurant is much above the hotel's level, and quite cheap when quality of meals is considered.Be warned that the hotel is old : going to the rooms require walking up steep stairs, which would not suit the needs of old or disabled guests. For the same reason of age, soundproofing between the corridor (which leads to all rooms) and the rooms themselves is poor. Many of us woke up each time people walked along this corridor, especially for late departure or early arrivals (people talking, moving luggage...). Unsurprisingly, we noted that rooms with windows on the street (7, 9 and 10) were much noisier that those that open on the backyard (1, 2, 4 and 15). There was noise coming from the street too.We had one annoying issue with room 10, that smelled really bad (the bathroom stank). Otherwise, all rooms offered more or less the same comfort, basic but clean, even if some of them were a little bit larger. According to our experience, the biggest rooms, that have one double bed and one single bed, only have a shower and not a bath. WiFi worked well.As this property is small, the owner asks each day when guests would like to have have breakfast the next day. Staff only opens the hotel lobby (and access to the restaurant) at the time the earliest guest has announced. This is the time when staff starts serving breakfast. A mishap happenened on our departure day as access to the lobby-restaurant area was locked at the time we were supposed to have breakfast. We tried to contact staff at the two phone numbers provided but no one answered. The owner finally arrived, 15 minutes late, and we did not start having breakfast before 15 more minutes (the owner had to heat the famous croissants, prepare the small buffet, etc.). I do not see the point of asking in advance when people want to have breakfast if management is not able to serve meal at that time.

    Beautiful garden.

My husband, daughter and I stayed in this hotel in August 2015. After a very long drive we arrived at this hotel and just in time for dinner. Meals are served in a really beautiful garden. Lovely 3 course dinner for 22 euro. Would recommend. Also nice breakfast in the garden. Hotel has free wifi and located in centre of town with parking just across the street.

Good food and a relaxing venue

    rating05 Jun 2015

We ate in the restaurant of this hotel last night (5th June 2015) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The meal was very good, the service friendly and efficient, and the shared ambiance on the terrace very good.humoured. We hadn't planned to eat out, but were pleased we did and to have found such a relaxing venue. A bientot...

Traditional French small town hotel, ideal for visiting La Brenne area of wildlife interest

    rating16 May 2015

The hotel is located in an old building in the main street. My room was small, but comfortable and quiet. Meals can be eaten in the small garden in the courtyard of the hotel, which is very pleasant on warm evenings. Food was excellent, as also was the service. Staff were particularly helpful and attentive. Breakfast was good. There is a limited amount of on-street parking immediately opposite the hotel. I would make a point of returning to this hotel again.
